She Joined Chuka university and graduated in 2015,and while tarmacking in Nairobi looking for employment,the worst had happened back home,her drunkard father Razed down their house forcing seven of her siblings seek refuge at neighbours.The father was arrested and charged with arson while her mother fell sick in what was later said to be depression and forced to flee back to her parents.This forced Ruth to go back to the village where she was to do menial jobs earning 200shs a day and burning charcoal to reconstruct the house in order to reunite her siblings who had gone to different homes to seek refuge. A visit by the media, Ruth narrated her ordeal with tears dropping her eyes uncontrollably as the responsibility of taking care of her siblings seemed heavy for her to manage,the father who was released a month later made four of her brothers flee for fear, she was left with 3 others two of them are in day school where she does menial job to Educate them,she plays not only a sister keeper but also as a parent,She can't look for any employment since no one responsible is there for them,narrating how her sister nearly stuffed to death for lack of food. She is now calling upon members of the public and any other well wisher to assist her get a job so that she can help her family. If I get a good job I know that I will be in a good position to bring back my sick mother and take her to a good hospital, educate well my siblings, build them a nice home and also transform the society where I come from as a whole,said the mother of one. Cheplambus Location Assistant Chief Eric Kiplagat, stressed that the family really needs help to salvage them from the current state. He also confessed that there is a big challenge of illicit brew in the area which has impoverished alot of families in the area and as the administration they are trying all they could to address the same. Tenges ward MCA Silas Tochim who visited the family today called upon the county leadership and also national government to create positions for such people in the society. "I am aware that she has applied for the county internship and I will try pushing to see to it that she gets something to sustain her family as she keeps on looking forward for greener pastures," said the MCA. At the moment Ruth depend on or as when she gets menial jobs as it determined by season,and following Government directive of banning logging,she cannot burn Charcoal anymore as no buyers for fear of hawk eyed forest rangers who implement the Government directive

At first, the students where chanting "haki yetu" (our right) which later morphed into pro-Bobi Wine slogans. She took the risk of putting her savings of Sh100,000 into the farm, money she says was preserved to pay for the children’s education. That was in 2014 and now smiles to the bank with her earnings of about Sh200,000 per month from the sale of eggs (at Sh25 each) to hatcheries as well as to hotels across the country. Mrs Ooro, a widow, now has more than 3,000 chicken at her Ndori farm from which she uses the proceeds to maintain her two children in college. Through the technical support of Technoserve, a US government funded organization, she is one of the thousands of farmers in western Kenya raising improved Kienyeji chicken. The retired banker says she does not regret the risk she took to make the investment grow into what it is today. Brian Ochanji of Technoserve (in cream shirt) says many women of her kind have been linked through a community savings bank where they access loans to grow their business.
