HR Basics: Human Resource Planning
HR Basics is a series of short courses, designed to highlight what you need to know about a particular human resource management topic. In today’s HR Basics, we explore human resource planning by outlining a three-step strategic process to meet your organization’s human resource needs. Human resource planning is a process that identifies current and future human resources needs for an organization to achieve its goals. Human resource planning should serve as a link between human resource management and the overall strategic plan of an organization. The goals of human resource planning are to ultimately improve organizational outcomes. Human resource planning is used in and for all functional areas of human resource management. Although you might immediately think of workforce planning, human resource planning covers the brood spectrum of functional areas of human resource management. Human resource planning includes figuring out where you are, where you want to go, and how to get there. Using this process, you will develop the core elements of a human resource plan - strategy, goals, and actions. Strategy is an extension of an organization's mission, a bridge between the organization and it’s environment. Goals are a statement of desired outcomes toward which effort is directed, to realize your human resource plan. Actions are the most important things that can be done to reach stated goals. Planning is critical for each functional area of human resource management. Ask these three simple strategic questions – where are we now, where do we want to be, and how can we get there? - to frame your next human resource planning process. Doing so will ensure you develop the right human resource strategy, goals and action items to realize your plan.

Introduction to Natural Resource Management on the A.T.
Natural Resource Coordinators share information about this program area.
Waste to Resource- The Future We Want Series
Urban areas in India alone generate more than 100,000 metric tonne of solid waste per day, which is higher than many countries’ total daily waste generation and this waste crisis is rapidly intensifying. The government alone can’t curb this menace, every colony, high rise apartment and even individual houses have to come up with their waste management solution on their requirement. An initiative in this direction has been taken by the residents of Sandeep Vihar, a high-rise apartment in Bangalore housing 1300 residents. Rajani Mani, one of the residents of Sandeep Vihar took the initiative and started a Solid Waste Management drive in her apartment. Sandeep Vihar collects around 1000 kg of solid waste per day, they have set up their down digesters to break down the waste into compost which they use in their kitchen gardens. As Rajani says, “here we are challenging the notion of waste, one man’s waste is another man’s gold, we turn waste into a resource” – A truly inspiring initiative. The film is produced under the series called "The Future We Want" which tells stories about individuals and communities in urban India who are demonstrating alternate ways of living and showing us the path towards a clean and sustainable future. #WasteManagement #Biodiversity

Deloitte + SAP Extended Warehouse Management: The future of logistics
Keeping a warehouse running smoothly evidently depends on transparent and accurate inventory – and wise and flexible resource management. In addition, human resources and equipment assets have to be improved constantly, with the help of techniques as interleaving tasks and implementing controls for space and equipment usage. With SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM), these objectives can be met. To contribute effectively to the corporate bottom line, warehouse operations have to be automated and optimized – starting from goods receipt, through storage, to packing and shipping. Miner Duplicants have broken through the crust of the asteroid, revealing the entire big ol' cosmos beyond! This stellar discovery has spurred new material innovations as the Duplicants rush to exploit the frontier while defending themselves from the uncaring vacuum (and unsightly freezer burn) of space. - - - - - ONI Cosmic Update Features: ► Space Biome - "Look at me, Liam! I'm on top of the world!" The surface of the asteroid is a source of abundant natural resources along with new hazards for your Duplicants to navigate. ►Solar Light - The abundant energy of a nearby star can be harnessed for electricity with Solar Panels. Your poor cave-dwelling Duplicants will appreciate the warm natural light as well, provided they don't roast! ►Meteor Showers: The good news: free resources! The bad news: they're traveling at 16 kilometers per second. Protect your surface infrastructure with meteor-proof walls and shutters, along with the new Meteor Detector. ►New Elements: Improved material science has enabled the production of Steel, Ceramics, Glass, and other basic materials. Windows and Walls: Now your Duplicants can build a room with a view. Transparent windows allow light and decor to pass through, while keeping your precious gasses and liquids right where you want them. Back walls offer protection against the greedy vacuum of space for those who dare to build on the surface. Critter Additions ►Like a swarm of Shine Bugs, the ranching opportunities continue to expand with new buildings and improvements. ►Updated Egg Economy: An Egg Cracker building makes planning your next omelet as easy as pie, which is a good thing because eggs have undergone some mass changes, as well as becoming unviable if left in storage for too long. ►Updated Critter Artwork: Completed eggs, babies, wrangled, and trapped artwork for all critters. Hooray! ►Automated Pen Management: Before, your Duplicants merely kept critters. Now, they're ranching them! Pen limits, as well as automatic wrangling and transfer, lets you build the coal-producing machine of your dreams. - - - - - Download ONI on Steam: http://bit.ly/2nMOivu - - - - - Q. The Human Element
Developed with the Maritime and Coastguards Agency and Walport International, The Human Element is a generic training resource based on the award-winning book by psychologists Dik Gregory and Paul Shanahan. The film is designed to create ‘greater operational mindfulness’ so allowing safety rather than danger to emerge from human behaviour. Translating theory into practice is a challenge Pukka Films faces regularly. Whether for the oil, gas, energy, chemical, transport or other sector – we frequently take theories or models of behaviour and translate them into compelling, relevant, practical training resources that can make a difference in the workplace. The human element is relevant to many activities and for anyone interested in helping people improve performance and safety, this is a must-see resource. Relaxing Watercolor Painting - ASMR No.1
Relax as I rediscover watercolor painting. I don't recall doing anything with watercolors since I was just a boy. I never thought I'd pick up a brush and watercolor set again, especially at my age, but indeed I have and glad I did. Perhaps I'll paint forever! For those wondering about the watercolor set I'm using it is by Master's Touch and currently cost $7.49 at Hobby Lobby at the time of this note. Congratulations! In reading the description, you found the secret bonus video! https://youtu.be/1UV4VLdne4M My videos are best enjoyed using headphones or earbuds. The videos on my YouTube channel portray some of the typical day-to-day activities that I do for relaxation. This video was produced with relaxation in mind and hopefully has some ASMR qualities. Too much stress is harmful to your well-being and in today’s fast-paced world, stress management is more important than ever, and so I hope this ASMR video acts as a stress reliever for those watching and a sleep-aid for anyone having a difficult time falling asleep. Covanta Metals Management - Recycling Non-Ferrous Metal from Energy-from-Waste Facilities
Since 2012, Covanta has made significant investments to recycle more metal from the waste stream. Using new technology and installing systems to recycle more ferrous and non-ferrous metals, metal recovery has improved by the equivalent of 16 cars per facility per week for ferrous, and for non-ferrous, the equivalent of 25,000 additional aluminum cans per week. In total, Covanta now recycles approximately 500,000 tons of metal per year, the equivalent of amount of ferrous and non-ferrous metal to build five Golden Gate bridges and manufacture more than two billion aluminum cans. Recycling metal from EfW facilities avoids a tremendous amount of greenhouse gases and recovers valuable natural resources that would have otherwise been lost in landfills. The production and mining of new steel, aluminum, copper, and other metals products is a carbon intensive process that negatively impacts the environment. By recovering and recycling 500,000 tons of metal each year, Covanta’s operations save approximately 1.2 million tons of greenhouse gases, the equivalent of pulling 112,506 cars off the road for a year.

Padma setu view in bangladesh biggest bridge
Padma setu view in bangladesh biggest bridge Padma setu view in bangladesh biggest bridge The Padma Bridge is a multipurpose road-rail bridge across the Padma River under construction in Bangladesh. It will connect Louhajong, Munshiganj to Shariatpur and Madaripur, linking the south-west of the country, to northern and eastern regions. Padma Bridge is the most challenging construction project in the history of Bangladesh. The two-level steel truss bridge will carry a four-lane highway on the upper level and a single track railway on a lower level.[3] With 150 m span, 6.150 km (20,180 ft) total length and 18.10 m width it is going to be the largest bridge in the Pawdda-Brahmaputra-Meghna river basins of country in terms of both span and the total length.[4] The project covers three districts —Munshiganj (Mawa Point/North bank), Shariatpur and Madaripur (Janjira/South bank). The total area of land to be acquired and required for its components is 918 hectares (2248.63 acre). The requisition of land for the construction yard will be for six years on a rental basis. As per the new design, an additional 144.04 ha (355.93 acre) has been identified for acquisition, bringing the total to 1062.14 hectares (2624.61 acre). This additional land is required because project site lost significant land due to erosion, for transition structures and due to a change in railway alignment. After allegation of corruption by some people associated with project preparation the World Bank withdrew its commitment and other donors followed. However, the corruption allegations were subsequently found to be false and without merit and the Canadian Court subsequently dismissed the case.[5] The project is now being funded from own resources of the Government of Bangladesh.[4] The Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) invited the pre-qualification tender for the project in April 2010. Construction of the bridge was expected to commence by early 2011[6] and be ready for major completion in 2013 (and complete all sections by late 2015[7]). The proposed Pawdda Multipurpose Bridge Project will provide direct connectivity between the central and southwestern part of the country through a fixed link on the Pawdda River at Mawa-Janjira points. The bridge will contribute significantly towards facilitating the social, economic and industrial development of this relatively underdeveloped region with a population of over 30 million. The area of influence of the direct benefit of the project is about 44,000 km2 (17,000 sq mi) or 29% of the total area of Bangladesh. Therefore, the project is viewed as very important infrastructure towards improving the transportation network and regional economic development of the country. The bridge has provisions for rail, gas, electric line and fibre optic cable for future expansion. The Bangladesh Bridge Authority is the executing agency of the project. On 17 June 2014,An important progress has been made in construction of Pawdda Bridge. A construction firm, China Major Bridge Engineering Company Ltd has been selected to construct the long aspired bridge on the river Padma. The 6.15 km bridge, costing an estimated ৳91.72 billion (US$1.2 billion), will connect 21 southern districts with the capital. This mega project would be completed by the end of 2018. A work order for river management issued in August 2014. China proposed building the bridge on the build-own-transfer (BOT) basis by investing $2 billion or 70 percent of the project cost. Four companies - China Major Bridge Engineering Company, Daelim-L&T JV and Samsung C&T Corporation - purchased the tender papers. But only the Chinese company submitted their financial proposal on 24 April 2014. The state-owned company has constructed structures like the famous 36 km Hangzhou Bay Bridge, the longest sea-crossing bridge in the world. Padma Bridge, when commissioned, will boost the GDP by as much as 1.2 percent Follow me on my Social Media to stay connected! 2018 SC Water Resources Conference: Meet Representative Sheheen
Abridged Transcript: Hello I'm Kathy Woodard with Clemson University PSA and I'm here at the SC Water Resources Conference in Columbia, SC. I have with me Senator Vincent Sheheen who has been a speaker here at our conference. This is his second time with us as a participant in our conference, so welcome. Thank you for giving us your time. Thank you, it's great to be back. So I hear that part of what you talked about was the flooding that we recently had and how it impacted your particular area, and you're in Kershaw County, correct? Actually, I represent three counties Chesterfield, Lancaster and Kershaw, and the Chesterfield portion of my Senate District was really hit hard by the water that came with Hurricane Florence. It was really a rain event there and it brought to the forefront for my folks up there really the damage and the challenge of dealing with that huge volume of water. We closed up about 20 bridges for a period of time, transportation was difficult, schools were closed, over 100 homes have been damaged from the water itself and the corresponding damage that comes from that. It's a real challenge in the rural counties, especially, to deal with that. So I got to go up and help them manage it for a day or so because it was all hands on deck to make it happen. So, what would you say in your position as being some of the most pressing needs we have in SC related to water resource management? We have seen tremendous amounts of population growth in this state, probably the most critical need right now is to understand what we have. On surface water, what do we have, how can we allocate it, is there enough, in what areas is it stressed, in what areas is it's plentiful. The same with underground water, we need to know. I'm really proud that we've led an effort to try to complete studies on both surface and underwater capacity and then we're going to make the hard decisions, right? If there's a river that is overstressed right now, then we need to protect it. We need to make sure that the uses both industrial for drinking water and recreation that are currently allowed continue, but we might have to say future growth has to be constrained. And then maybe in other parts of the state where we do have plenty of water, we can help to ship industry and jobs and an opportunity to those areas where we know we have the resource. So, knowing what we have is important, and then making sure that allocations are appropriate. What I don’t want to happen is for us to look back on what God gave us and wish that we can handle it differently because it's gone. We had a Rudy Mancke yesterday talking a lot about natural resources and protecting those natural resources, so that it's good to hear that you’re thinking along those things as well. The other question I have you is what are some research needs in particular, you talked about the understanding of what we have, so what would be some research areas and priorities that you think will be important for the state to address in the near future? I think it's critical that we understand the change in climate and how that is going to affect our assets and our resources. So for example, in Chesterfield County where we saw the great flooding events, what are we going to see in the future and what changes do we need to make in that area and other areas. The bridges and causeways that currently exist obviously were not capable and competent handling that volume of water. We had a Mack truck that literally nosedived into a creek because the bridge gave way. We had you know loss of life in the state. I think the research on what this change in climate is going to do to our state is critical so that we can prepare - prepare our people and prepare our infrastructure and prepare ourselves to try to deal with it. I know that at your level you’re having a lot of policy discussions I’m sure about water resources, water resource management. What's your next step here in the state? Well I hope, one of the next steps I want us to see is not just South Carolina-related, I want us to have increased interstate cooperation. I helped to start the bi-state River Commission for the Catawba Wateree North Carolina South Carolina, and I think in the future it's gonna be really critical especially for these larger rivers and streams that we're working with other states to make sure that water resource is managed not just in South Carolina, but throughout the whole region. Let's face it, on the planet there are no boundaries and the rivers don’t recognize them, and we're gonna have to really work together with our neighbors to manage this resource as we see the south and the southeast grow in population. That’s a real important area that I don't know is quite getting the attention that I hope it will. Well, thank you so much for your time and thank you for the time you give us every time we have the conference. Thank you, it's a pleasure and I appreciate the work that's done here.
