A Japanese Method to Develop Creativity in Kids

09:17
Japanese people are known for their intelligence, politeness, and wellness. Why is this nation so unique and different from the rest of the world? It seems we’ve found the answer – they have an incredibly cool education system and unique teaching methods! There is a unique method in Japanese schools for developing creativity in kids. We believe that the whole world needs to adopt it! It’s called “Nameless paints.” In this video, we'll tell you how it works. Watch till the end – there is a small but brilliant bonus for you. Other videos you might like: 15 Examples of Japanese Etiquette That Will Drive You Crazy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR-H7yr9Ceo& Why Japanese Are So Thin According to Science https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxsnYsA549Y& 8 Japanese Parenting Rules All Kids Need https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_gnpIs8qMo& TIMESTAMPS: “Nameless paints” 0:34 Manners before knowledge 2:58 The academic year starts on April 1st 3:33 Students clean their school themselves 4:18 School lunch is provided on a standardized menu 4:59 After-school workshops are very popular 5:32 Students learn Japanese calligraphy and poetry 6:15 Students have to wear school uniform 6:50 The school attendance rate is about 99.99% 7:23 A single test decides the students’ futures 7:55 College years are the best ’holidays’ in life 8:32 SUMMARY: - “Nameless paints” includes ten tubes that don’t have color names such as “yellow,” “blue,” or “green.” Instead, there are only spots of a particular color or colors on each tube. As you can see, the spots are also different sizes. - In Japanese schools, students don’t take any exams until they reach grade four (the age of 10). The goal for the first three years of school is not to judge the child’s knowledge, but to establish good manners and to develop their character. - While most schools in the world begin their academic year in September or October, in Japan, it is April that marks the start of the academic and business calendar. The first day of school often coincides with one of the most beautiful natural phenomena — the time of cherry blossom. - In Japanese schools, students have to clean the classrooms, cafeterias, and even toilets all by themselves. Most Japanese schools do not employ janitors or custodians. - All classmates eat in their classroom together with the teacher. This helps build positive teacher-student relationships. - To get into a good junior high school, most Japanese students enter a preparatory school or attend private after-school workshops. - Japanese calligraphy, or Shodo, involves dipping a bamboo brush in ink and using it to write hieroglyphs on rice paper. - While some schools have their attire, traditional Japanese school uniform consists of a military style for boys and a sailor outfit for girls. - At the end of high school, Japanese students have to take an exam that determines their future. A student can choose one college they would like to go to, and that college has a particular score requirement. - Having gone through ‘examination hell,’ Japanese students usually take a little break. In this country, college is often considered the best years of a person’s life. Sometimes, Japanese people call this period a ‘vacation’ before work. Are Students Juuling in Your Classroom?

03:58
JUULing and other forms of vaping have become extremely popular among teenagers. JUULs are tiny and look more like computer thumb drives than cigarettes, which makes them hard for teachers to detect. Also, they come in different flavors and don’t emit much vapor. These devices contain a lot of nicotine and can disrupt a classroom, and students’ learning, in serious ways. Education Week’s Kavitha Cardoza has some tips on how educators can recognize JUULing and what they can do about it. Why “C” Students Are More Successful Than “A” Students

11:07
How to be More Successful. We all try to get good grades to later get a well-paid job and succeed in life. Most people including our parents believe it is a direct toad to success. However, according to Robert Kiyosaki, author of Why ‘A’ Students Work for ‘C’ Students and ‘B’ Students Work for the Government, it’s actually the other way around. It’s “A” students that end up being employed by “C” students. We found 8 reasons why “C” students are often more successful in life. Now that’s some food for thought if you want to transform your own life or give good advice to your kids. TIMESTAMPS “C” students question the significance of the academic system. 1:30 They’re not afraid to fail or get bad grades. 2:37 “C” students are risk takers. 3:39 They’re not submissive followers. 4:45 “C” students have people skills. 5:34 They find simpler ways to get things done. 6:30 “C” students are dreamers. 7:16 They have their own definition of success. 7:53 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -“C” students are more interested in a straightforward approach and unfortunately for them, academia doesn’t offer that. They hack their way into the system by taking on odd jobs or learning outside of school. -While “A” students aim for perfection on their first try, “C” students aren’t afraid to fail, even several times! They embrace their shortcomings and learn from them. -“C” students, who received their fair share of “Fs” in their academic life, aren’t afraid to leap into the unknown. They take calculated risks to figure out what they really want in life. -“C” students tend to question everything. They’re not the “Yes” group; they’re more like the “Yes, but…” team. -Besides experimenting in the work force, “C” students also devote themselves to building networks that can benefit them in the long run when they enter the real world. -“C” students don’t wanna put much energy into accomplishing a task, they’d rather be investing their time and effort in pursuing their dream. -“C” students are more interested in thinking about what they wanna do in life rather than being stuck in the four walls of a classroom. -“C” students decide what they want done, and “A” students are good at taking and follow these instructions. We decided to stretch your brain a little and see if you can come with five children’s puzzles. Did you manage to keep your brain as young as a child’s? You will have 20 seconds for each task! (pause the video if you need more time to think). TIMESTAMPS Chess players 0:50 A box of chocolates 1:43 Task of intelligence 3:06 A missing letter 4:18 Holey T-shirt 5:13 SUMMARY - Two people are playing chess. They played five games, but according to the results, each player scored three wins. How could this happen? - There are 50 chocolate candies in the box. 30 of them come with caramel filling, 25 with coconut, 10 of them are two-flavored candies with caramel and coconut, and the rest of them are just chocolate candies with no filling. Newsela Student Sample

00:40
This is a sample movie that was made by an upper elementary student. After reading an article on Newsela about how the heat release in the Arctic is affecting weather patterns, the student used powerful words that conveyed the main ideas of the article. The video was supposed to be around 30 seconds. The student used copyright friendly images and theme music found in iMovie. Students in other classes have created similar videos using Animoto. This was the first attempt, with no rubric. As we continue to make these type of videos and use a rubric to guide us, they will only improve.

School House Rock -The Preamble

03:02
During the 1970's when this cartoon was aired for the first time to the American people; the American society was a good society that put America first. We taught our children what it is to be an American. Today that no longer is a priority; unlimited immigration without assimilation and anti-American Communists that refuse to follow the U.S. Constitution are destroying what was once a great Nation. And what do we do? Nothing. We are no longer a Nation, we have become a Country filled with aliens from every third world country from across the globe. I don't believe America will survive as the Nation our founding fathers left us; "One Nation under God indivisible with Liberty and Justice for All" , unless we as a "people" WAKE UP!!! THE WRATH OF THE AWAKENED SAXON by Rudyard Kipling It was not part of their blood, It came to them very late, With long arrears to make good, When the Saxon began to hate. They were not easily moved, They were icy -- willing to wait Till every count should be proved, Ere the Saxon began to hate. Their voices were even and low. Their eyes were level and straight. There was neither sign nor show When the Saxon began to hate. It was not preached to the crowd. It was not taught by the state. No man spoke it aloud When the Saxon began to hate. It was not suddently bred. It will not swiftly abate. Through the chilled years ahead, When Time shall count from the date That the Saxon began to hate.
