How to Disable UEFI Secure Boot in Windows 10 64 bit and 32 bit

02:56
What is UEFI Firmware ? UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) Secure Boot is the boot path validation component of the UEFI specification. It will store embedded validation signature code of the applications like boot loader and drivers etc. Also it will block unknown or bad certificates and application. How ever the signature only verified in the boot stage. The user can enable or disable the UEFI secure option to legacy BIOS compatibility mode with bios setting. Which means, like its older operating system as well as helps to control all the operations, for example Windows 7, XP, Linux, Ubuntu etc.. Windows 8 and windows 10 are not build with old established bios, after the windows 7 all newly build in operating systems are developed with UEFI Firmware . UEFI Boot | How to Boot From USB Flash Drive (USB Device Not Listed in Boot Order : Solved) 2018

In this video I will be showing you how to change your BIOS settings to boot from a USB device if for some reasons you do not see your USB device in the list of possible boot devices, this is a common problem in the more recent pavilion series of Hp laptops. To solve this problem, go to your BIOS using the required function key or ESC key, go to the system configuration tab and move down to boot options and hit enter. Then go to legacy support and change it to “enabled”. Then using your arrow key go down to your USB device under the UEFI boot order and use the required function key to move the USB device to the top of the boot order, then use the F10 Key to save an exit. Now you may see this DOS page asking you to enter a certain code and hit the enter key to complete the process, after that the Windows installation will start loading. How to Configure Boot Settings in Windows 10 (Official Dell Tech Support)

02:01
Learn how to configure boot settings in Windows 10 and gain a better understanding of the bios boot options available including Legacy and UEFI. For more information please visit http://dell.com/support For support questions email us at [email protected] VIDEO TRANSCRIPT Welcome to Dell Tech Support. Want to know more about how the boot process of your computer works? In today’s video we’ll cover this, as well as how to customize the boot process according to your needs. When you turn on the computer, it goes through the following steps. The BIOS loads all the physical components first. Then the POST does a quick check on all of them to make sure each one is okay. And finally the BOOT loads and starts the Operating System, this of course all happens in just a few quick seconds. To customize the BOOT process, turn on your computer and press the F2 key repeatedly to access the BIOS. Go to the BOOT tab and check the options available for customization. The Secure Boot is responsible for protecting your Operating System. When this option is Enabled, your system can only be replaced or partitioned through the restoration process (DELL warranty covers ONLY the original Operating System). Legacy Option ROMs (Read Only Memory) is responsible for the default Legacy BIOS. It’s best to keep this option default as Enabled. But if you do decide to change it, back up your data beforehand as this type of change will be applied to your Operating System. The Boot List Option has 2 options: Legacy and UEFI. This is basically the firmware option you can choose to boot your device. Legacy is the oldest firmware for Operating Systems that will work with the MBR file format (Master Boot Record). UEFI stands for Unified Extensible Firmware Interface which speeds up the boot process but also protects the Operating System. It prevents a new system from being installed over the original factory installation and it is not possible to create other partitions in this mode. For additional information on understanding Boot Options within BIOS, check out the link provided in the video description below. http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/4/SLN142679/EN

How To Change Boot Order In Computer BIOS [For Beginners]

02:54
This tutorial demonstrates how to launch the built-in BIOS utility to change the boot order of your devices on your computer. If you are looking to set the primary boot device to a usb flash drive/stick or CD/DVD follow these steps. If you ever want to change these settings back, you can do so following the keyboard shortcuts located in the BIOS. Remember to always save your changes before closing out of the utility. To boot from a CD, DVD or USB device, make sure that the device has boot sequence priority over the hard drive. BIOS (Basic Input Output Subsystem) is a programmable chip that controls how information is passed to various devices in the computer system. A typical method to access the BIOS settings screen is to press ESC, F1, F2, F8 or F10 during the boot sequence. BIOS settings allow you to run a boot sequence from a floppy drive, a hard drive, a CD-ROM drive or an external device. You may configure the order that your computer searches these physical devices for the boot sequence. The first device in the order list has the first boot priority. For example, to boot from a CD-ROM drive instead of a hard drive, place the CD-ROM drive ahead of the hard drive in priority. Before you set boot priority for a USB device, plug the device into a USB port. To specify the boot sequence: 1. Start the computer and press ESC, F1, F2, F8 or F10 during the initial startup screen. Depending on the BIOS manufacturer, a menu may appear. 2. Choose to enter BIOS setup. The BIOS setup utility page appears. 3. Use the arrow keys to select the BOOT tab. System devices appear in order of priority. 4. To give a CD or DVD drive boot sequence priority over the hard drive, move it to the first position in the list. 5. To give a USB device boot sequence priority over the hard drive, do the following: Move the hard drive device to the top of the boot sequence list. Expand the hard drive device to display all hard drives. Move the USB device to the top of the list of hard drives. Save and exit the BIOS setup utility. 6. The computer will restart with the changed settings. 7. Boot Priority Options Some computer manufacturers allow you to select the device that contains the boot sequence from a special device selection menu. The example below uses a Dell system board. To set boot priority using a device selection menu: 1.When the computer starts to boot up, after the manufacturer's ID screen, press F12 several times. The device selection menu appears. 2. Use the up and down arrows to select CD-ROM or an USB Flash Drive. 3. To boot from the selected device, press ENTER. Note: Using an incorrect BIOS setting can cause a system malfunction. Please follow the BIOS guide provided with your computer motherboard. If you read these instructions and you are not sure how to change a setting, it is better to leave it as the default setting. This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7 operating systems.Works for all major computer manufactures (Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Samsung).

Toshiba cl45. Can't change boot UEFI boot Mode. Impossible after disabling Secure Boot.

02:00
Disclaimer: BORING VIDEO FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES For those who have a toshiba laptop model cl45, it is impossible to change to boot from UEFI mode to non UEFI CSM. Bios is Ver. 5.1 1) I booted into bios 2) Then I went to Security on Left and set Secure Boot o Disabled 3) Finally I went to advanced, but the option for "Boot Mode" - UEFI Boot is completely disabled. I've heard that I need to turn off my machine between step 2 and 3 (which I've tried.) I did a hard shut down too removing the battery. No success at all. I think this cheap laptop which only has 32gb of internal storage just doesn't have the ability to disable UEFI in bios. WHY does anyone want UEFI disabled? To re-install windows easily. Basically, you can't easily create a UEFI boot device using windows own usb creation devices. Yes, that's right.. even windows creation tool doesn't do this by default. *sigh Long story short.. what should have taken me 15 min to reinstall the os took me a few hours because I had to figure out how to create a UEFI usb windows installation

It always boots Windows because it's somehow hardcoded.) * 1:10:00 : Hide Microsoft Windows UEFI boot entry (No matter how many times I install (Distro name here) in UEFI mode. It always boots Windows because it's somehow hardcoded. And it always overwrites it. ( HP EliteBook 8460p or HP EliteBook 8460p )) * 1:16:32 : Reinstall Microsoft Windows EFI (I've messing with Grub and Windows and Windows no longer boots. (BCD is still here in the right place.) I cannot longer boot into Windows) * 1:28:53 : Other minor Rescatux improvements

How to use Rufus to install Windows 10 (UEFI and Legacy BIOS)

02:57
This video will guide you how to use Rufus to install Windows 10 that supports both UEFI and Legacy BIOS. In other words, this video will show you how to use Rufus to create Windows 10 bootable USB from ISO. Read more: https://www.aioboot.com/en/how-to-use-rufus-to-install-windows-10/ Rufus 3.4 is currently the latest version, choose the right options according to your needs: 1. UEFI only: - Partition scheme: GPT - Target system: UEFI (non CSM) - File system: FAT32 2. Legacy BIOS only: - Partition scheme: MBR - Target system: BIOS (or UEFI-CSM) - File system: NTFS 3. Dual UEFI + Legacy BIOS: - Press "Alt + E". By default, Rufus will not support booting in both UEFI and Legacy (BIOS). Press ALT + E to enable this option. Rufus also supports creating two NTFS partitions to store files larger than 4GB and FAT32 to boot UEFI. - Partition scheme: MBR - Target system: BIOS or UEFI - File system: FAT32 If the ISO file contains files larger than 4GB, choose NTFS. If you get this error message, it means that the ISO file contains a file larger than 4GB. In this case, choose NTFS instead of FAT32, Rufus will create a second FAT32 partition to support UEFI boot. This ISO image contains a file larger than 4GB, which is more than the maximum size allowed for a FAT or FAT32 file system. In general, choose GPT if you only need UEFI support. Selecting MBR and FAT32 will support both UEFI and Legacy. Select NTFS if the program errors as above.

Marrying U-Boot, uEFI and grub2 - Alexander Graf, SUSE

52:30
Marrying U-Boot, uEFI and grub2 - Alexander Graf, SUSE Booting is hard. Booting in the ARM world is even harder. State of the art are a dozen different boot loaders that may or may not deserve that name. Each gets configured differently and each has its own pros and cons. As a distribution this is a nightmare. Configuring each and every one of them complicates code that really should be very simple. To solve the problem, we can just add another layer of abstraction (grub2) on top of another layer of abstraction (uEFI) on top of another layer of abstraction (u-boot). Follow me on a journey on how all those layers can make life easier for the distribution and how much fun uEFI really is. After this talk, you will know how ARM systems boot, what uEFI really means, how uEFI binaries interact with firmware and how this enables convergence of the Enterprise and Embedded markets. About Alexander Graf Alexander started working for SUSE about 8 years ago. Since then he worked on fancy things like SUSE Studio, QEMU, KVM and openSUSE on ARM. Whenever something really useful comes to his mind, he tends to implement it. Among others he did Mac OS X virtualization using KVM, nested SVM, KVM on PowerPC and a lot of work in QEMU for openSUSE on ARM. He is the upstream maintainer of KVM for PowerPC, QEMU for PowerPC and QEMU for S390x.
