Here are some key principles for how to make attractive cities once again. If you like our films, take a look at our shop (we ship worldwide): https://goo.gl/fwFNPV FURTHER READING “Cities are a big deal. We pretty much all have to live in them. We should try hard to get them right. So few cities are nice, very few out of many thousands are really beautiful; embarrassingly the more appealing ones tend to be old, which is weird because we’re mostly much better at making things now...” You can read more on this and other topics on our blog TheBookofLife.org at this link: https://goo.gl/6wYBGc MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Our website has classes, articles and products to help you think and grow: https://goo.gl/RWcyzt Watch more films on CAPITALISM in our playlist: http://bit.ly/TSOLcapitalism Do you speak a different language to English? 14 Strange Ways of Life the Ancient Egyptians Practiced

09:46
We often think that we are completely different from ancient people, but archaeology shows that we are quite wrong. Here is a list of 14 unbelievable facts about the life of ancient Egyptians. TIMESTAMPS The invented written language 0:49 They invented tables 1:19 They invented wigs 1:38 They extracted iron from meteorites 2:14 They invented toothpaste 2:51 They used breath mints 3:53 They used antibiotics in the treatment 4:26 They invented eye makeup 5:02 They formed the world’s first police 5:24 They invented the calendar 6:15 They were the first to produce beer 7:12 They used door locks 7:40 They played bowling 8:11 They treated eyes 8:48 SUMMARY - The Egyptians used pictograms, which simply depicted words. Later they added characters that looked a lot like modern alphabets, which helped them to write down some abstract ideas. - Before the Egyptians, there were no tables (as far as we know). So, they made this simple piece of furniture to keep the food off the ground and also for gaming purposes. - Because of really hot climate, most Egyptians (at least, men) shaved their heads. That’s why when you watch a movie about ancient Egypt, most men are bald. However, some people wanted to have some kind of hair on their heads. So, when they felt like it, they used wigs. - Archaeologists found metal beads in an ancient Egyptian tomb. In 1911 nine pretty small beads were found in the north of Egypt. But why were these beads so unique? The thing is, the Egyptians started to smelt iron only 2 thousand years later. - they invented one of the first versions of toothpaste. It consisted of ashes, burnt eggshells, and ox hooves. Archaeologists even managed to find some guides on how to mix these ingredients to make the right paste. - Scientists examined mummies and found severely worn out teeth even in young people. So, to do something about the unpleasant smells from the mouth, they invented the first mints. They used myrrh and cinnamon, they boiled them with honey and made some kind of pellets. - The Egyptians kind of invented antibiotics way before the 20th century, but it looks like they didn’t know it. They used moldy flatbread to cure festering wounds. They fermented something that looked like porridge that had very high levels of tetracycline which we know as an antibiotic. - Both men and women in Egypt wore makeup. And it was a symbol of nobility. The more makeup you had, the higher your social status was. - The world’s first police were formed during the Middle Kingdom period (years 2050-1800 BC). It included the most loyal warriors and foreign mercenaries. The Egyptian policemen didn’t have guns or cool badges, but they were armed with staffs and accompanied by dogs and trained monkeys. - If the missed that day, all the harvest was at risk, so the Egyptians designed a system to be able to know which season it was. They had three seasons in a year: inundation, growing, and harvest. Each season consisted of four months, and each month had 30 days. - You might have heard that the workers who built the pyramids were paid with 4-5 liter of beer a day. - The ancient Egyptians possessed accurate medical knowledge that could be compared to modern practices. Scientists who examined mummies found traces of some truly challenging operations: heart bypass surgery, organ transplantation, and even plastic surgeries. - Door locks were created in Egypt and China, probably because such devices were needed. The more neighbors you have, the more reasons to lock your door. The mechanisms of the locks were quite simple: there were special pins inside that didn’t let anyone open the door without the key. - In one ancient settlement near Cairo, archaeologists found a playroom going back to 3200 BC with carved lanes and balls of various sizes for fingers. The rules were a little bit different from the modern bowling we all are used to. - Eye infection was a common disease among the Egyptians. They used various methods of treatment: they used bactericidal paint and remedies made of… human brains. 15 Defensive Driving Secrets That Can Save Your Life

08:14
How to drive a car safely? How to drive a car with an automatic transmission? Safety is everything when it comes to driving. For example, do you know how to drive in winter weather? If you don't feel sure about your driving skills, then watch these 15 secrets from the specialists of defensive driving. The most important rule for when you’re in a drift is not to brake. We mean than blocked wheels don’t let the driver control the car at all. There are only two ways of dealing with drifts, and they are different for each type of drive. We're sure that you know these methods, but we still have a few secrets from the specialists of defensive driving to offer you. TIMESTAMPS How to avoid a car accident 0:29 Always keep the right distance 0:55 Look further 1:13 Use clutch and brake in the winter 1:34 How to drive in fog 1:56 ABS VS. no ABS 2:23 How to drive when drifting 3:08 Check the road 4:21 Divide by two 4:48 The surface road 5:11 Pick a side 5:36 Higher gear 5:51 Don’t overestimate other drivers 6:05 Have an emergency plan 6:32 Use car technology wisely 7:04 SUMMARY Where danger can come from. The places where people brake more often are usually the most slippery: before turns, pedestrian crossings, and bus stops. You should keep the same speed there and start braking early. Keeping the right distance. In winter, the distance between two cars should be two times bigger than in summer. But don’t leave too much space because someone else will want to get in the middle. Looking further Don’t look only at the car in front of you. Keep it in your sight, but also look further — 4-5 cars further. Using clutch and brake in the winter. In winter, you shouldn’t push the clutch pedal together with the brake pedal. In this case, the wheels can get blocked and the car will be put into a drift. Driving in fog. Make sure your headlights are on but don’t use high beams. Those will reflect off of the vapor in the air and only make things worse. ABS VS. no ABS. ABS car owners. The anti-lock braking system neutralizes the brake pedal on icy roads if you push it too fast and too hard. Instead of braking suddenly, the system causes the pedal to vibrate, so you can turn the wheel and put it in the initial position. None ABS car owners. The best way to brake in winter is using the brake pedal together with the downshift speeds. You should push the brake pedal shortly and then fully unblock the wheels. Repeat before the full stop. How to regain control when drifting If your car starts drifting, don’t panic and don’t hit the brake pedal! Another mistake most people make is wrenching the wheel round and in this way over-compensating. Check the road. When driving on winter roads, hit the brake pedal and let it go several times. If you feel that the car stops, the road is good; if you don’t, it means that the road is icy. Do this as often as possible. Make sure you aren’t creating dangerous situations, of course. Divide by two. If in summer you can drive at 80 miles per hour, then in winter, you should drive at 40 miles per hour. This way, you will make sure that you will have enough time to react if your car starts drifting. The surface road. On any road, try to drive the car so that all 4 wheels are on the same surface. Pick a side To avoid bounces between the walls of a deep track, push either the inside or the outside part of the wheels against the wall. Higher gear. On an icy road, you should drive in a higher gear. Again, take the summer norm and increase the gear by one when you’re driving in winter. Don’t overestimate other drivers. People will speed, drive on red, and not let you merge from time to time. Staying alert for others to make mistakes is an essential defensive driving trick. Have an emergency plan. Always leave enough space around your car to swerve to safety if you should. An emergency plan and an escape route in mind provide extra safety for you. Use technology wisely. Use planners available for your smartphone to make sure you never forget to have your wheels changed. Set a reminder right now, so every October you will be reminded that it’s time you thought about your safety. What driving secrets do you know? Feel free to share them in the comments. A Secret New York Island That You Can Never Visit

09:05
NYC has about 40 islands. And among those, there’s one that’s so confidential that you can't even visit it! Mystery worth solving, don't you think? We’re about to take a trip to the hush-hush New York island known as U Thant. You’ll definitely be surprised by its interesting history... TIMESTAMPS: The history of U Thant Island 1:06 What U Thant Island is now 3:33 Another closed-off island in New York that's oozing with mystery 4:02 Snake Island in Brasil 5:20 Heard Island in the middle of the ocean between Australia and Antarctica 6:23 Surtsey Island in Iceland 7:14 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - U Thant Island is a teeny-tiny 100-by-200-foot artificial island located off the coast of Manhattan. Its history goes way back to the 1890s. The island remained undisturbed and out of the spotlight until 1977, when it was adopted by the Peace Meditation at the United Nations. - It’s now turned into a protected sanctuary for migrating birds, including a small colony of beautiful double-crested cormorants. - North Brother Island is currently designated as a bird sanctuary, but its history is a lot darker. The island was abandoned up until 1885, when it became the new location for Riverside Hospital. Riverside was at first an isolated hospital for smallpox patients but over time expanded and started accepting sufferers of other types of highly contagious and deadly diseases, like tuberculosis and typhoid fever. - If we venture out across the globe, we’ll find even more places that are, for one reason or another, off-limits for visitors. One prime example is Snake Island, which is located about 90 miles off the coast of Sao Paulo. As to why this place is forbidden for travel, the name says it all! Snake Island houses from 2,000 to 4,000 venomous snakes. - There are other even more mysterious places out there, like Heard Island. You can find it in the middle of the ocean between Australia and Antarctica. Heard Island is home to animals that are totally unique to this area, and the Australian government wants them to live in peace without human intervention. - Surtsey Island was formed from a huge volcanic eruption that took place back in 1963. The eruption lasted for 4 whole years, allowing the island to grow to a size of one square mile. Since then, it’s continued to be a place of interest for volcanologists, botanists, and biologists alike. Statistically speaking, they’re the most responsible about visiting the dentist regularly. - New York not only has the most densely populated city in America, it’s also the homestate of the most presidents (7) and vice presidents (11). - New Jersey, despite being the butt of so many jokes, has the lowest suicide rate in the country. - Maryland has the best household income rates in the country at an average of $80,000 per year. - Virginia has the lowest asthma rate in the US. That must mean they have the cleanest air, right? Wrong! - West Virginia is the most equal state regarding education, race, and income level. However, only 19% of the population goes on to get a college degree. - Florida: great for vacationing, not so much for living! It’s got the most popular amusement park in not just the country but the whole world: Universal Orlando Resort. - Alabama is the best at college football: their universities have racked up 16 national championship victories. - Louisiana is famous for New Orleans and for the Port of South Louisiana. It’s the largest in the nation, overseeing 60% of the country’s grain exports. - Tennessee has the highest number of caves in the country, so if you’ve ever wanted to go spelunking, get a group together and head on over! But be careful not to hurt your mouth on your expeditions! - Kentucky’s another great place for exploring caves; they’ve got the longest cave system in the entire world! If you’re interested in checking it out, it’s Mammoth Cave National Park. - Kansas is the largest producer of wheat in the nation. Maybe all those endless flat wheat fields have something to do with the fact that this state is also ranked as having the ugliest natural scenery in the US. - North Dakota boasts the highest quality of life in America and the fastest growing economy. - Indiana is the best at high school basketball, but also has more meth labs than any other state. - Texas is the biggest state in the continental US, and as such produces the most energy and has the highest migration rate: over 1,000 people move to Texas each day. - Nevada makes more tax money from gambling than any other state in the country and has the highest rated nightlife. How to Make a Country Rich

09:07
If you were setting out to make a country rich, what kind of mindsets and ideas would be most likely to achieve your goals? We invent a country, Richland, and try to imagine the psychology of its inhabitants. For gifts and more from The School of Life, visit our online shop: https://goo.gl/LSHb5a Download of App: https://goo.gl/E9S7uW FURTHER READING “Most of what we call ‘politics’ really revolves around the question of what you need to do to make a country richer. Rather than ask this of any specific country, let’s imagine designing a country from scratch. How could you make it as rich as possible? Suppose the brief was to design ‘Richland’: an ideal wealth-creating society. What would be the chief characteristics you’d need to build into this society? What would a nation look like that was ideally suited to success in modern capitalism?...” You can read more on this and other topics on our blog TheBookofLife.org at this link: https://goo.gl/StpBHa MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Our website has classes, articles and products to help you think and grow: https://goo.gl/oeof2J Watch more films on CAPITALISM in our playlist: http://bit.ly/TSOLcapitalism Do you speak a different language to English? Why comfort will ruin your life | Bill Eckstrom | TEDxUniversityofNevada

12:35
After documenting and researching over 50,000 coaching interactions in the workplace, Bill Eckstrom shares life-altering, personal and professional development ideas through the introduction of the “Growth Rings.” The rings illustrate how dangerous it can be to remain in a state of comfort and how being in discomfort is the only way to sustain growth. You’ll be amazed at the world-changing outcomes discomfort can have on your life and the lives of others. Bill Eckstrom is an entrepreneur, author, speaker, outdoorsman and father of three. With a passion deeply rooted in growth and development, Bill has always been fascinated by the role a coach has on the performance of individuals and teams. As a result, he founded the EcSell Institute whose sole focus is to educate, track and measure coaching effectiveness for leaders within organizations around the world. This has led to hundreds of keynotes, published articles and e-books created from the research and documentation of coaching interactions and outcomes. You can learn more about the EcSell Institute here: https://www.ecsellinstitute.com/ This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. 16 Crazy Things That Are Considered Normal In Other Countries

13:44
Every country has its own laws, traditions, rules, and specific features that might seem strange and even shocking to the people of other cultures. For example, did you know that women in India can marry a tree? And it’s not because they are crazy about nature. Or that in South Korea babies are considered to be one year old at birth? Or that Australia fines its citizens that don’t show up to elections? Our world is amazing and unique and that’s what Bright Side keeps reminding our readers. The following 16 facts confirm this statement. TIMESTAMPS: Some women in India marry trees 0:53 Sundanese people in Indonesia sometimes use banana leaves instead of plates 2:02 There is a cult of live Kumari goddesses in Nepal and it is made up of little girls 2:44 People in Israel build temporary dwellings called sukkahs in order to live there during the celebration of Sukkot 3:41 Newborn babies in South Korea are considered to be one year old 4:23 A metro passes through a block of apartments in China 5:17 Fast food restaurants in the Philippines sell huge portions 5:54 A whole family can fit on one motorcycle in Pakistan 6:32 Egyptians have a completely different concept of traffic rules 7:02 People in Italy arrange battles of oranges 7:35 Residents of Great Britain need to buy a separate TV license for each TV set at home 8:37 There is a church tax in Germany 9:32 People in Australia are fined for not voting 10:29 In Canada, milk is sold in transparent plastic bags 11:07 There are a group of female wrestlers that wear colorful clothes in Bolivia 11:32 There is a special ’instrument of education’ called la chancla that moms in Mexico and other Spanish speaking countries use 12:35 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - After the ceremony, the tree is cut and burned and the woman is then allowed to marry a man. - People from completely different social positions can eat from one leaf: a taxi driver, a governor, an unemployed person, a teacher, the mayor of the city, etc. - People in Nepal believe that the Hindu goddess Taleju has an earthly incarnation in little girls whose bodies she sometimes possesses. - One should spend as much time as possible in a sukkah during the week of celebrations — eat there, rest there, and pray there. If living there is not an option, having meals in a sukkah twice a day is obligatory. - Newborn babies in South Korea and in some other countries are considered one year old. Additionally, it’s believed that a person becomes one year older not on their birthday (though that is celebrated too) but on the first day of the Lunar New Year. - There is an extremely atypical architectural solution that you can see in the Chinese city of Chongqing — the Liziba monorail train station is located inside a residential building. - Don’t get surprised if you see a portion of French fries for 6 people on the McDonald’s menu in the Philippines. - You can drive any way you want in Egypt and it’s unlikely that your driving license will be revoked. Of course, this type of driving creates traffic jams, emergency situations, and many dangers for commuters that are on bikes or walking. - Every year, in February or at the beginning of March, the Carnevale d’Ivrea is held involving the traditional battle of oranges. People throw oranges at each other like snowballs. - Kirchensteuer — is a church tax that is imposed on the parishioners of some religious communities in Germany. Roman Catholic churches, Evangelical churches, a unitary religious society of free Protestants, and Jewish communities are among them. - Australia is one country where people are required to pay a fine for not participating in the election. The fine is not huge, but still, it’s a penalty. - The idea of recruiting a number of simple Bolivian women to participate in wrestling competitions belonged to Juan Mamani, the manager of a team called the Titans of the Ring. PHILOSOPHY: Immanuel Kant

08:13
Immanuel Kant was acutely aware of living in an age when philosophy would need to supplant the role once played by religion. This helped him to arrive at his most famous concept: the ‘categorical imperative.’ If you like our films, take a look at our shop (we ship worldwide): https://goo.gl/o15jWG FURTHER READING “Immanuel Kant is a philosopher who tried to work out how human beings could be good and kind – outside of the exhortations and blandishments of traditional religion. He was born in 1724 in the Baltic city of Königsberg, which at that time was part of Prussia, and now belongs to Russia (renamed Kaliningrad)...” You can read more on this and many other topics on our blog TheBookofLife.org: https://goo.gl/HnPgjd MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Our website has classes, articles and products to help you think and grow: https://goo.gl/8yBXZv More films on PHILOSOPHY in our playlist below: http://bit.ly/TSOLphilosophy Do you speak a different language to English? POLITICAL THEORY - Karl Marx

09:28
Karl Marx remains deeply important today not as the man who told us what to replace capitalism with, but as someone who brilliantly pointed out certain of its problems. The School of Life, a pro-Capitalist institution, takes a look. For gifts and more from The School of Life, visit our online shop: https://goo.gl/O1tWri Download our App: https://goo.gl/kj9Vvr FURTHER READING “Most people agree that we need to improve our economic system somehow. It threatens our planet through excessive consumption, distracts us with irrelevant advertising, leaves people hungry and without healthcare, and fuels unnecessary wars. Yet we’re also often keen to dismiss the ideas of its most famous and ambitious critic, Karl Marx. This isn’t very surprising. In practice, his political and economic ideas have been used to design disastrously planned economies and nasty dictatorships. Frankly, the remedies Marx proposed for the ills of the world now sound a bit demented. He thought we should abolish private property. People should not be allowed to own things. At certain moments one can sympathise. But it’s like wanting to ban gossip or forbid watching television. It’s going to war with human behaviour. And Marx believed the world would be put to rights by a dictatorship of the proletariat; which does not mean anything much today. The Golden Child Syndrome

05:07
It's tough of course not to have been loved much by one's parents; but there's a real challenge too in having been loved too much, or rather, admired in a stifling unreal way that lies at the core of what we call 'the golden child syndrome.' Golden children aren't - despite appearances - privileged at all; they suffer from the enormous burden of expectation placed on their too-young shoulders by over-eager parents. We grow mentally unwell – prey to underconfidence, anxiety, paranoia and shame – because, somewhere in the past, we were denied the necessary warmth, care and sympathy. But there is another, more curious, and more subtle problem that may arise from childhood years: what we can term the Golden Child syndrome.” MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Visit us in person at our London HQ: https://bit.ly/2oU5MX0 Watch more films on SELFin our playlist: http://bit.ly/TSOLself You can submit translations and transcripts on all of our videos here: https://www.youtube.com/timedtext_cs_panel?c=UC7IcJI8PUf5Z3zKxnZvTBog&tab=2 Find out how more here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6054623?hl=en-GB SOCIAL MEDIA Feel free to follow us at the links below: Download our App: https://bit.ly/2oSlly9 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theschooloflifelondon/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheSchoolOfLife Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theschooloflifelondon/ CREDITS Produced in collaboration with: Gemma Green-Hope http://www.gemmagreenhope.com/ #TheSchoolofLife #GoldenChildSyndrome

MORE DISNEY PRINCESSES REIMAGINED AS MODERN DAY BAD GIRLS https://youtu.be/P2bFF43AWRE Subscribe: https://goo.gl/cv6b96 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disney Princesses have always been role models, so it’s hard to imagine what they would look like as bad girls. They had so many challenges to face, floors to clean, and fears to overcome that they barely had time to really be teenagers. This is why today, we are showing you 10 Disney Princesses Reimagined as Modern Day Bad Girls, thanks to Nata St. Art, Disney Hardcore, and Ashi Monster. Ariel from “The Little Mermaid” is one girl who always loved breaking the rules. She was fascinated by the human world and loved to collect things that used to belong to them. Her father already said that she shouldn’t go near humans, so we think that he wouldn’t be happy to see her looking like one. But just wait until you see what she would look like as a real bad girl! Belle from “Beauty and the Beast” is not the kind of girl who likes to break the rules. But when her father was thrown behind bars by the Beast, she had no other choice but to take his place, even though that’s not what he wanted. But what would she do as a modern day princess? You’ll have to watch this video to find out. Stay tuned to hear more about bad girls from “The Princess and the Frog,” “Frozen,” “Aladdin,” “Snow White,” “Cinderella,” “Tangled,” “Pocahontas,” and “Moana.” If you could choose one princess who could be part of a remake in the 21st century, who would it be? Why This Tiny Lake Is the Scariest on Earth

08:53
There are about 117 million lakes on our planet, and they cover almost 4% of the continental land. Lakes can be small or big, clean or dirty, vital for local infrastructure or...deadly. And if you've been wondering which lake is the most dangerous in the world and why, this video will answer your questions. TIMESTAMPS: Where the most dangerous lake in the world is situated 1:11 What makes Lake Kivu so dangerous 2:05 What happened at Lake Monoun in 1984 2:27 What happened at Lake Nyos in 1986 3:06 What characterizes crater lakes 4:11 What was the solution 6:21 How much contains methane gas Lake Kivu contains 7:06 How many people could die if Lake Kivu explodes 7:52 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - The most dangerous lake in the world is situated in Africa on the border of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda. It’s Lake Kivu, the ninth deepest lake in the world. - On August 15, 1984, a loud boom sounded from the lake, according to locals. People saw a huge gas cloud over the surface of the water. This natural disaster took the lives of 37 people. - The theory was proved false 2 years later on August 21, 1986, when a much more disastrous explosion shook Lake Nyos, which is located just 62 miles away from Lake Monoun. This time, the catastrophe happened at night and took the lives of more than 1,700 people. - Crater lakes usually have extremely high levels of CO2 due to the volcanic activity that’s happening many miles beneath the surface. Under normal circumstances, this gas is occasionally released during the lake water turnover. - Nowadays, measures have been taken to prevent similar catastrophes from happening. The solution was quite simple: degassing. Authorities installed a pipe that runs to the very bottom of Lake Nyos. - Lake Kivu contains more than 55 billion cubic meters of methane gas, which is generated at the bottom of the lake. On top of that, it's also located in a crater, and its volcanic rock bed has layers of carbon dioxide. - Either the methane explosion or CO2 poisoning could take the lives of more than 2 million people living in the basin of Lake Kivu. When His Mom Read It, She Broke Down in Tears ************************************************************** The ability to interact with other kids and form friendships is a crucial step in a child’s social development. But for some children it’s just not that easy. And when parents sometimes struggle to understand the difficult world that their child may live in, a helping hand from a thoughtful stranger can bring unexpected hope. Take Tricia Klein, for example. Klein, 34, is from Brantford, Ontario. She is mother to three children, the youngest of whom is seven-year-old Timothy. And like any young school kid, Timothy gets invited to lots of birthday parties. Even so, for most of his school life the little boy never went to any. Not one. ------------------------------------------------------------- ►Article link:https://goo.gl/6AcJ1m ------------------------------------------------------------- Speaking to ABC News, Klein described her son as “a very happy and social little guy.” But he struggles. And although he would love to get involved in group activities and make friends among his peers, it’s just not that easy. In fact, Timothy’s mom began to realize that something was wrong after his first birthday, when the little tot started to show a strong preference for playing all by himself. Soon, he started refusing food. He hated wearing clothes, too, and he wouldn’t interact with his siblings. And then Timothy began making bizarre movements that left his mom totally confused and worried. Writing on her blog, The Book of Timothy, Klein wondered, “Where had my bright and happy boy gone?” ************************************************************** ►You can support the channel: PATREON https://goo.gl/KtaKrp ►Image credits: The Book of Timothy https://goo.gl/PiWSFq ►web: http://watchjojo.com ► SUBSCRIBE US: https://goo.gl/Z4nZcg *Thank you :Robin Lewis ► Follow Us On Google Plus: https://goo.gl/JYf9Rr ► Like us Our Facebook Page: https://goo.gl/C5Rv92 ► Follow On Twitter: https://goo.gl/PZ2U1R ►For more articles visit: http://scribol.com #watchjojo

True Pyramids Purpose Has Been Finally Discovered

12:22
Many researchers thought that the Egyptian tombs were constructed to highlight the majesty pharaohs. And that's what we studied at school. Yeah, past tense! Brace yourselves, folks, because it looks as if scientists have finally discovered the true purpose of the pyramids! It seems these unique structures might have had a function that was a far cry from burying the dead... TIMESTAMPS: How the Great Pyramid of Giza is different from any other traditional tombs 1:22 Could the ancient Egyptians have had technologies as advanced as the modern ones? 2:57 The Great Pyramid's mysteries 4:20 What about the “sarcophagi”? 6:34 “The Queen's Chamber” beneath the Great Pyramid 7:27 What was the gold capstone at the top of the Great Pyramid used for 9:46 Could ancient Egyptians us wireless energy for communication purposes? 10:45 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - The Great Pyramid of Giza was made with over 2 million stone blocks, each weighing from 3 to 30 tons. Actually, the most gigantic ones can be as heavy as 50 tons! The base of the Great Pyramid covers an area of 592,000 square feet, and each of its sides is about 218,000 square feet in size. - If you let go of the stereotype that ancient civilizations were less developed than we are today, a question arises: could the ancient Egyptians have had technologies as advanced as the modern ones? What if their knowledge was lost only to be rediscovered centuries later? - Interestingly enough, the Egyptians also used a special material, dolomite, on the inner sides of the pyramid. This mineral is known to multiply electrical conductivity. - Modern technology still can't recreate the gypsum-based mortar that was used during the construction of the pyramids. This kind of gypsum withstands huge amounts of pressure. So this may sound bizarre, but the mortar holding them together is, in fact, stronger than the blocks of the pyramid themselves. - In 1993, an inaccessible secret room was uncovered beneath the Great Pyramid. This room, which seemed to be deliberately concealed, was dubbed “The Queen's Chamber”. In 2011, thanks to more developed technologies, it became possible to explore the room with the help of a remote camera. - At the top of the Great Pyramid of Giza, there used to be a capstone made entirely of gold. It forwarded a path to transfer negative ions (those are atoms with an electrical charge) to the ionosphere (the layer of the earth’s atmosphere that contains a ton of said atoms). And that’s how an electric current of immense power was produced! - Another weird thing you can see in such carvings is what clearly looks like a wireless antenna. Perhaps the ancient Egyptians used wireless energy for communication purposes? They very well could’ve used electricity at weaving plants to manufacture yarn. 13 Scariest Theories That'll Make Your Blood Run Cold

11:17
Where did we come from? Where are we headed? What is our world? Are we alone in the universe? When the mental gears really start moving, people can come up with theories that are downright terrifying! In this video, you'll learn about 13 of the scariest theories that’ll make you question everything you thought you knew about your reality. TIMESTAMPS: The Great Filter 1:28 Higher dimensional beings 2:33 False Vacuum 3:23 We're living in a black hole 4:10 White Holes 4:50 The Multiverse Theory 5:25 Brain in a Vat 6:03 Roko's Basilisk 6:48 The Transcension Hypothesis 7:21 The Terror Management Theory 8:00 The Sixth Mass Extinction 8:35 The Fermi Paradox 9:17 The Simulation Theory 10:00 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - According to The Great Filter theory, somewhere out there exists a Great Filter. The main purpose of this Filter is to stop those civilizations that advance to the level of star colonization. - What if a 4D being was looking at you from their four-dimensional world? Just like a 2D person, you wouldn't be able to notice this creature in your 3D world. - The False Vacuum theory says that our universe exists in a false phase state, which means that it's just a temporary thing. What's more, it's only a small part of a larger universe. - You’re probably well-aware that black holes suck in everything around them. But what happens to the stuff it engulfs? What if a black hole already swallowed us up long ago? Surprisingly, some physicists deem this theory pretty plausible. - While black holes engulf all matter so that even light can’t escape, white holes are quite the opposite. These formations are believed to spit out everything that black holes suck in. - The Multiverse theory claims that there might be countless other realities besides our own. - The Brain in a Vat theory says that you very well could just be a brain in a jar. Something is feeding you false impulses, and you're hallucinating your whole life and reality. - Roko's Basilisk is a hypothesis that some future super-powerful artificial intellect can retroactively punish people who struggled against it in the past (which is our present) or even those who did nothing to help bring it about. - The Transcension Hypothesis states that a civilization eventually gets to a certain intellectual level. - According the Terror Management theory, everything we do comes from the fear of death. Our wishes and motivation are based on just one thing, and it’s the idea that one day we will stop existing. - The Sixth Mass Extinction theory is probably the most horrifying. Yet, unfortunately, it’s the most probable scenario. Some biologists believe that humanity is headed for or already passing through the sixth mass extinction - The Fermi Paradox theory explains why we probably wouldn't recognize an advanced alien civilization even if it was right under our nose. - According to the Simulation theory, we all live in an incredibly complex computer game. How to Have a Good Conversation

06:07
We too often imagine that ‘good conversations’ are things we fall into out of luck. Far from it, knowing how to have a good conversation is a skill that can be learnt – and here are the beginning of the rules. If you like our films, take a look at our shop (we ship worldwide): https://goo.gl/wubZTC Join our mailing list: http://bit.ly/2e0TQNJ Or visit us in person at our London HQ https://goo.gl/73KtT6 FURTHER READING “Having a decent conversation is something most of us imagine we can do without any problem – and certainly without much thought. These things just happen naturally. Don’t they? But in truth, truly good conversations come along very rarely; largely because our societies fall for the Romantic myth that knowing how to talk to other people is something we are born knowing how to do, rather than an art dependent on a little planning and a few skills. We rightly accept that total improvisation in preparing a meal is unlikely to yield good outcomes; but we show no such caution or modesty when it comes to how we might talk over the food once it has been made. Finding oneself in a good conversation can feel as haphazard and random as stumbling on a beautiful square in a foreign city at night – and realising one won’t reliably know how to get back there in daytime.” You can read more on this and other subjects on our blog, here: https://goo.gl/dSuY1L MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Our website has classes, articles and products to help you think and grow: https://goo.gl/eJKlpu Watch more films on RELATIONSHIPS in our playlist: http://bit.ly/TSOLrelationships You can submit translations and transcripts on all of our videos here: https://www.youtube.com/timedtext_cs_panel?c=UC7IcJI8PUf5Z3zKxnZvTBog&tab=2 Find out how more here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6054623?hl=en-GB SOCIAL MEDIA Feel free to follow us at the links below: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theschooloflifelondon/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheSchoolOfLife Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theschooloflifelondon/ CREDITS Produced in collaboration with: Khyan Mansley https://www.youtube.com/user/Khyan1 https://twitter.com/khyan #TheSchoolOfLife
