#HITB2017AMS D1T2 - Side Channel Attacks Against iOS Crypto Libraries And More - Najwa Aaraj

34:26
Cryptographic primitives and protocols are typically treated as mathematical components that represent the following provable security property: theoretically secure with an established formal security proof. However, in real-world applications, provable security is more often than not weakened by the actual implementation and the properties of the device / system / Operating system on which cryptographic primitives and protocols are deployed – are often exploitable by a side-channel attacker. Side-channel attacks represent a real threat to cryptographic implementations and as a by-product to the security of a secure system overall in almost all scenarios and use cases. The focus of this research is to study side channel attacks in the context of iOS Operating System, specifically drawing a difference between side channel attacks against user and system level applications using iOS provided crypto library(ies) and those using built-in and / or third party crypto libraries. While running our experiments, we use electromagnetic emanations from the processor as side-channel information and using clock as a trigger to discern Electromagnetic traces. We then conduct Differential Power Analysis (DPA) against hardened cryptographic implementations in order to recover keys used for symmetric ciphers computations as well as schemes used for Key Exchange / Key Agreement. Electromagnetic emanations will also be used to derive information from stateful protocols execution, where elements of the EM traces Fast Fourier Transform have peak frequencies being observed. === Senior Vice President – Special Projects at DarkMatter LLC, with 12+ years experience in information and systems security. NaCl: A New Crypto Library [ShmooCon 2015]

51:53
Daniel J. Bernstein and Tanja Lange NaCl (pronounced "salt") is a new easy-to-use high-speed software library for encryption, decryption, signatures, etc. NaCl's goal is to provide all of the core operations needed to build higher-level cryptographic tools. Of course, other libraries already exist for these core operations, but NaCl improves security, improves usability, and improves speed. We'll explain how the design and implementation of NaCl avoid various types of cryptographic disasters suffered by previous cryptographic libraries such as OpenSSL. This talk also presents TweetNaCl, a self-contained public-domain C library which reimplements the NaCl library in just 100 tweets. See https://twitter.com/tweetnacl. We're researchers in applied cryptography working on making secure crypto more usable and on eliminating bad crypto. This includes us sometimes breaking bad crypto but most of the time our work is constructive. We're the core NaCl development team, along with Peter Schwabe. We've designed several cryptosystems, including Salsa20, Poly1305, Curve25519, and Ed25519. These cryptosystems are designed for security, robustness, performance, and ease of implementation without data-dependent branches and without data-dependent array indices. We use these functions in NaCl to make our lives easier and the software better. We've done some other things in crypto as well.

IOTA tutorial 21: CryptoJS

03:40
If you like this video and want to support me, go this page for my donation crypto addresses: https://www.youtube.com/c/mobilefish/about This is part 21 of the IOTA tutorial. In this video series different topics will be explained which will help you to understand IOTA. It is recommended to watch each video sequentially as I may refer to certain IOTA topics explained earlier. The main objective of this video is to provide you with some basic knowledge about CryptoJS. CryptoJS is a collection of standard and secure cryptographic algorithms implemented in JavaScript using best practices and patterns. They are fast and they have a consistent and simple interface. Jeff Mott is the original author of the crypto-js library which was one of the many code projects hosted by the Google Code Project Hosting Service. The Google Code Project Hosting Service was turned down in early 2016. The many code projects can still be found at the Google Code Archive. https://code.google.com/archive/ Jeff Mott’s CryptoJS library can be found at: https://code.google.com/archive/p/crypto-js/ The CryptoJS last version is v3.1.2 and last updated in Jan 15, 2013. See: https://code.google.com/archive/p/crypto-js/downloads How to use the CryptoJS functions, see: https://code.google.com/archive/p/crypto-js https://code.google.com/archive/p/crypto-js/wikis/QuickStartGuide_v3beta.wiki It seems that this library is not maintained by Jeff Mott anymore. Jeff Mott’s CryptoJS library has been forked by several developers and can be found at Github: https://github.com/brix/crypto-js https://github.com/sytelus/CryptoJS https://github.com/gwjjeff/cryptojs The fork created by Evan Vosberg (brix/crypto-js) is still maintained. The (Brix) CryptoJS library can be found at: https://github.com/brix/crypto-js An npm module has been created for the (Brix) CryptoJS library which can be found at: https://www.npmjs.com/package/crypto-js To include all CryptoJS libraries in JavaScript: var CryptoJS = require(“crypto-js”); The (Brix) CryptoJS library is also available in the free and open source web front-end resource Content Delivery Network (CDN): https://cdnjs.com/libraries/crypto-js The (Brix) CryptoJS library are used by several Distributed Ledger projects, such as: - IOTA (in the iota.lib.js library) https://github.com/iotaledger/iota.lib.js/blob/master/package.json - Ethereum (in the web3js library) https://github.com/ethereum/web3.js/blob/develop/package.json Understanding how the CryptoJS library works would be beneficial to you if you are an IOTA or Ethereum front-end developer. The CryptoJS library has no asymmetric key algorithms, such as RSA. More information how to use CryptoJS, see: https://code.google.com/archive/p/crypto-js/wikis/QuickStartGuide_v3beta.wiki https://github.com/brix/crypto-js https://www.davidebarranca.com/2012/10/crypto-js-tutorial-cryptography-for-dummies/ Check out all my other IOTA tutorial videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmL13yqb6OxdIf6CQMHf7hUcDZBbxHyza Subscribe to my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCG5_CT_KjexxjbgNE4lVGkg?sub_confirmation=1 The presentation used in this video tutorial can be found at: https://www.mobilefish.com/developer/iota/iota_quickguide_tutorial.html #mobilefish #howto #iota

Kontakt: Turn (FREE) 3rd Party Instrument Files into Recognized Libraries

17:43
Do you have any 3rd party .nki instrument files but are forced to only access them outside of your Kontakt Library column? I have uncovered an effective way to turn many FREE 3rd party .nki files into recognizable libraries within Kontakt. This is sort of a manual override to compete with developers who make these instruments so that they sit in your "Library". I am working in OSX but I believe these principles should translate to PC. I recommend watching this video on desktop with "annotations" turned on as there may be some details during .nicnt file setup that you will miss otherwise. The reward can be great but you must proceed at your own discretion. If you are experiencing errors upon adding a library you may have to revisit .nicnt file with a text editing software like "TextEdit" for mac. If you have many Kontakt libraries currently recognized in your library column you must use caution when picking a SNPID #. Meaning do not pick a SNPID # that is already taken. Here are some of the resources for the free Kontakt files I used: BPB Mini Analogue Collection (example used in video): http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2012/06/13/bpb-mini-analogue-collection-free-sample-pack/ Pettinhouse-GTR: http://www.pettinhouse.com/html/download.html VSTBuzz & Short Noise: http://vstbuzz.com/freebies/ Pop Piano Free: http://sonic-cat.com/pop-piano-free/ Jupiter-8: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqQVlmnTO-o Crypto Cipher: https://www.cryptocipher.in/?wpsc-product=free-sample-pack *The 3rd party instruments and files used in video example were FREE (NOT SOLD) provided by their respective developers/publishers. One exception is the Jupiter-8 by "0:1" which is available via the active youtube link. This video (how to) was created for the intention of educational purposes.

What is an API?

03:25
What exactly is an API? Finally learn for yourself in this helpful video from MuleSoft, the API experts. https://www.mulesoft.com/platform/api The textbook definition goes something like this: “An application programming interface (API) is a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications. An API expresses a software component in terms of its operations, inputs, outputs, and underlying types. An API defines functionalities that are independent of their respective implementations, which allows definitions and implementations to vary without compromising each other. A good API makes it easier to develop a program by providing all the building blocks. APIs often come in the form of a library that includes specifications for routines, data structures, object classes, and variables. In other cases, notably SOAP and REST services, an API is simply a specification of remote calls exposed to the API consumers. An API specification can take many forms, including an International Standard, such as POSIX, vendor documentation, such as the Microsoft Windows API, or the libraries of a programming language, e.g., the Standard Template Library in C++ or the Java APIs. An API differs from an application binary interface (ABI) in that an API is source code-based while an ABI is a binary interface. For instance POSIX is an API, while the Linux Standard Base provides an ABI”. To speak plainly, an API is the messenger that runs and delivers your request to the provider you’re requesting it from, and then delivers the response back to you. To give you a familiar example, think of an API as a waiter in a restaurant. Imagine you’re sitting at the table with a menu of choices to order from, and the kitchen is the provider who will fulfill your order. What’s missing is the critical link to communicate your order to the kitchen and deliver your food back to your table. That’s where the waiter (or API) comes in. ”AHEM” The waiter takes your order, delivers it to the kitchen, and then delivers the food (or response) back to you. (Hopefully without letting your order crash if designed correctly) Now that we’ve whetted your appetite, let’s apply this to a real API example. In keeping with our theme, let’s book a flight to a culinary capital – Paris. You’re probably familiar with the process of searching for airline flights online. Just like at a restaurant, you have a menu of options to choose from ( a dropdown menu in this case). You choose a departure city and date, a return city and date, cabin class, and other variables (like meal or seating, baggage or pet requests) In order to book your flight, you interact with the airline’s website to access the airline’s database to see if any seats are available on those dates, and what the cost might be based on certain variables. But, what if you are not using the airline’s website, which has direct access to the information? What if you are using online travel service that aggregates information from many different airlines? Just like a human interacts with the airline’s website to get that information, an application interacts with the airline’s API. The API is the interface that, like your helpful waiter, runs and and delivers the data from that online travel service to the airline’s systems over the Internet. It also then takes the airline’s response to your request and delivers right back to the online travel service . And through each step of the process it facilitates that interaction between the travel service and the airline’s systems - from seat selection to payment and booking. So now you can see that it’s APIs that make it possible for us all to use travel sites. They interface with with airlines’ APIs to gather information in order to present options back to us The same goes for all interactions between applications, data and devices - they all have API’s that allow computers to operate them, and that's what ultimately creates connectivity. API’s provide a standard way of accessing any application, data or device whether it is shopping from your phone, or accessing cloud applications at work. So, whenever you think of an API, just think of it as your waiter running back and forth between applications, databases and devices to deliver data and create the connectivity that puts the world at our fingertips. And whenever you think of creating an API, think MuleSoft.

Why ccxt in Python for Bitcoin crypto currency bot development over Javascript PHP

14:58
Crypto currency development with open source  Install using this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckvBbE7UKNg This is a video explaining my view of crypto currency bot development. This includes Bitcoin with a focus on using Python over Javascript or PHP. Advantages of using Python over web development programming languages  After my various videos on based on trading bots for crypto currency including Bitcoin. See below for that. The main hate on from what I see is that people don't like negative references back to web development languages (e.g. Javascript or PHP) are substandard for more advanced languages including Python. I explain all of my rationale in my first 13 minute video below. Working Python gives you many advantages to integrate with other awesome packages including backtrader. It seems that a widely evolved package like ccxt  enables you to wrap to 90 global exchanges. Some will be valid and safe while others will drop off with bad news around them. As a result, you only to maintain one interface with the latest exchange changes. You will not need to pull your hair out by maintaining each exchange you are interested in working with. Here are some past videos I have done regarding crypto currency bots. This includes Gekko or crypto currency bot other projects. There is no lazy way If you plan to use some black box bot, you are pretty well wasting money. I say that because you most likely are looking for the quick easy way to make money at crypto. Guess again? Those days are over. Not only that, it means that you will need to work. You will need to full understand 'under the approach' of how these instrument flow. Yes they are valid. It is the volatility where you will make some great coin if you forecast the correct market direction. As a result, you will need to understand this with a good amount of learning. Sorry but I don't think there is no other way.  http://quantlabs.net/blog/2018/02/crypto-currency-bitcoin-bot-development-with-python-over-javascript-php/

Install and staking Nav Coin 4.0.4 in Linux/Ubuntu - mini pc Wintel Pro(5v)

13:39
Nav Coin Version 4.0 is much easier, just run a bin file: ./navcoin-qt Maybe some library fails, try to update and restart the computer: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade Do not forget to encrypt the wallet, hackers have stolen the wallets. There are continually attacks on the blockchain, but hackers do not paste fake blocks, encryption system is the best solution. Save one clean blockchain and wallet, maybe it would have been corrupted, your wallet will not make stakes. NAV has not yet released ADAPPS, anonymous smart contract, anonymous app, and polymorph is also very interesting: https://navcoin.org/project-roadmap/ https://navcoin.org/files/navcoin-4.0.4/ Another solution to make stakes with 5 volts: https://store.navcoin.org/product/navpi-stakebox/ https://tupropiobanco.blogspot.com.es ------------------------------------------------------------------ Do you want to discover immortality? exists.
