Investment Banking Areas Explained: Advisory Services

07:00
The next type of investment banking services we will examine are advisory services, comprising assistance in transactions, like mergers and acquisitions (known as M&A) and debt restructurings. As we already said, M&A stands for Mergers and Acquisitions. In every M&A process, there are at least two parties. One of the companies is called the Buyer or the Buying company, and the other one is called the Target, which is the firm acquired. The Buyer company can offer a compensation to the Target company’s shareholders in several ways. They can offer a cash compensation, a stock package of the new entity, or a combination of both. The technical name of the amount paid is called “consideration.” There are several reasons M&A deals play an important role in a company’s life. Top managers understand that, sometimes, it is cheaper to acquire something that has been already created, rather than trying to generate it internally. In addition, businesses are so complimentary that their combination can unlock a great deal of savings, efficiencies, and opportunities. We will focus on these aspects in the chapter dedicated to the mechanics of M&A services. Why do companies need help when acquiring other companies? Investment bankers are ideally positioned to provide valuable M&A insights to their clients, as they know their business and the industry in which they operate. Sometimes, an investment bank advises several firms from an industry and can gain perspective through multiple points of view. Besides M&A, many investment banks engage in restructuring services. These services are necessary when a firm cannot service its debt and is in danger of going bankrupt. I’m sure you can imagine how tough it is to work on these transactions and assist companies in deep trouble. What leads to the distress of a company? Why would a company borrow money it can’t repay? Well, the simple answer is that things change, and sometimes, unforeseen circumstances can materialize. One of the most popular places to invest your money are banks. Organisations that control our money. What savings interest rate should you be getting? 0.01% and 0.03% is considered low. While 1.05% isn't really that much, its still 100x better than what you would get at commercial banks. Beware of the oddly stupid CDs that are being offered. They lock you into a period of deposit while giving less interest than you would get at an online savings account! http://ojc.myecon.net/opportunity-video/ Call/Text: 678-837-5863 Email: [email protected] Why wealthy people do not use banks to create their wealth. There are several investment options in the financial industry with varying degrees of risk versus reward. Many people believe the bank is the first place to go should you want to save your money and start investing and create wealth. I am going to explain to you why the bank is the last place the wealthy go to invest their money. Banks are in abundance all over the country and chances are great that you have an account their. Banks offer one form of investments which are known as cash equivalents. Cash equivalents come in the form of checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposits also known as CD’s, money market funds, savings bonds and treasury bills. A cash equivalent offers a low risk, low return profile. They are the most liquid assets that you can invest in and are convertible into cash. How do banks calculate interest on your savings a/c? | Savings Account Bank Interest Calculation

Earlier banks used to pay an interest rate of 4% p.a. against the lowest available balance in the savings account between the 10th and final day of a month. Any deposits happening during this period were not eligible for interest rate calculation of that month, but at the same time, withdrawals during the period were taken into account. What is MUTUAL SAVINGS BANK? What does MUTUAL SAVINGS BANK mean? MUTUAL SAVINGS BANK meaning

03:07
What is MUTUAL SAVINGS BANK? What does MUTUAL SAVINGS BANK mean? MUTUAL SAVINGS BANK meaning - MUTUAL SAVINGS BANK definition - MUTUAL SAVINGS BANK explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. A mutual savings bank is a financial institution chartered by a central or regional government, without capital stock, that is owned by its members who subscribe to a common fund. From this fund claims, loans, etc., are paid. Profits after deductions are shared between the members. The institution is intended to provide a safe place for individual members to save and to invest those savings in mortgages, loans, stocks, bonds and other securities and to share in any profits or losses that result. The members own the business. The institution most frequently identified as the first modern savings bank was the "Savings and Friendly Society" organized by the Reverend Henry Duncan in 1810, in Ruthwell, Scotland. Rev. Duncan established the small bank in order to encourage his working class congregation to develop thrift. Another precursor of modern savings banks were the ideas Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen that led to rural credit unions and cooperative banks. European voluntary organizations and "friendly societies" provided the inspiration for their state incorporated American counterparts. These first savings banks were envisioned as philanthropic endeavors, designed to uplift the poor and working classes. The banks were started by philanthropists, who took on the positions of savings bank trustees, managers, and directors as opportunities to teach the working class the virtues of thrift, and self-reliance by allowing them the security to save their money. The first incorporated US mutual savings bank was the Provident Institution for Savings, in Boston. Its 1816 charter was the first government legislation in the world to safeguard savings banks. In 2015, the oldest (and largest) mutual bank in the U.S. is Eastern Bank of Boston, with approximately $10 billion in assets. It was chartered in 1818 in Salem, Massachusetts as the Salem Savings Bank. Since the 1970s, when the industry was deregulated, thousands of mutual savings banks have been converted into stock ownership companies, raising more than $40 billion. In 2010, only about 600 remained. These conversions have often resulted in large financial rewards for top bank executives. Current mutual saving banks include Eastern Bank, Dollar Bank, Ridgewood Savings Bank, Middlesex Savings Bank, and Liberty Bank.

I found the MOST PROFITABLE Savings Accounts (It’s not Robinhood)

13:23
After reading all the interest about Robinhood’s 3% Checking Account, I did some research and found the BEST Savings accounts that offer the highest interest…FDIC insured ;) Enjoy! Add me on Snapchat/Instagram: GPStephan Join the private Real Estate Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/therealestatemillionairemastermind/ GET $50 OFF FOR A LIMITED TIME WITH COUPON CODE: THANKYOU50 The Real Estate Agent Academy: Learn how to start and grow your career as a Real Estate Agent to a Six-Figure Income, how to best build your network of clients, expand into luxury markets, and the exact steps I’ve used to grow my business from $0 to over $125 million in sales: https://goo.gl/UFpi4c First Bank: Ally Bank As of mid December 2018, they offer a 2% annual return on your money in their online savings account. And this is with no strings attached…no account minimums, no maximums, no need to make direct deposit every month to quality, no conditions to meet…no waiting list of over 700,000 to join…it’s just open up an account, put your money in, and enjoy a 2% return! Second Bank: American Express Savings They offer the same 2% return just like Ally Bank does. I’ve been an American Express customer since 2012 and AMEX has been nothing but amazing. Their accounts also have no fees, no minimums, and a pretty decent way to get 2% return if you’re already an AMEX customer. Oh, and it’s FDIC insured ;) Third Bank: Capital One 360 They also offer a no fee account that offers 2% interest…but they’re not quite as good because to get the 2%, you need to keep a minimum of $10,000 in your account. So most likely, the other two options are a little better. Fourth Bank: Marcus by Goldman Sachs Right now they offer a slightly better rate than the previous 3, at 2.05% interest! No account minimums and no requirements to meet! Fifth Bank: Synchrony Bank. Pretty much the same as Marcus by Goldman Sachs and they also offer the same 2.05%! Sixth Bank: PNC Bank They offer 2.35% interest. That’s pretty much the highest that I’ve found on a savings account without any account minimum, without any fees, or without any weird deposit requirements, without any waiting lists, and best of all…while still having FDIC insurance! There are several other nation wide banks that offer 2.4%+ interest…although all of them had bad reviews, so I didn’t feel comfortable listing them. - In terms of other banks offering OVER 3% to match or even beat Robinhood…yes, that does exist. There are several other REGIONAL BANKS that offer 3% AND HIGHER if you meet their requirements. The full list can be seen here: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/high-interest-savings-to-get/ So while Robinhood seems like the BEST option in terms of no fees, no requirements, and no minimums to make 3%, it MIGHT not be worth the risk if they don’t have SIPC insurance confirmed. And this video is really about just giving you some other ideas and options besides Robinhood. Even though you’ll make a bit less than 3%, the result is pretty negligible..the difference of .65% on $20,000 is only $10.83 per MONTH…and for that price, I think getting a better bank with better customer service is totally worth the price. So I hope this video was able to give you some solid options to think of! Skip Your Bank! These 7 Options Will Make You MUCH More Money.

17:49
Let’s see if this sounds familiar….you have some money sitting in a savings account and it is probably making next to nothing. If you are not really sure what to do, you have several options. 🤔 You can go to a bank and stick it in a savings or money market account, chances are they are not going to pay you anything. If there were, you wouldn’t be watching this video. With that in mind, I want to talk about 7 alternatives to placing you savings into a bank. 🏦 I am also going to share a client story with you about where a client was keeping his cash. (You won’t believe where he was keeping it or how much he was keeping there!) So let's dive right into your options: ➡️ Online savings [1:10] - Any sort of online savings or bank account (just make sure they have FDIC). They have a lot less overhead than traditional brick and mortar - this could mean higher interest rates. ➡️ US Treasuries (TBills) [3:54] - It may seem a little old school - but you can do all of this online. ➡️ High Dividend Stocks [4:42] - This is a little higher risk and not somewhere you want short-term money. Just because a stock pays a dividend doesn’t mean it won’t drop in value. ➡️ Bonds [6:27] - You are most likely not going to buy individual bonds, but rather bond mutual funds. I would suggest ETFs, just remember higher yield = higher risk. ➡️ Blended Portfolio [9:30] - This would be a mix of stocks and bonds, and utilizing ETFs to get this blend. You can utilize a platform like Betterment or Wealthfront. 🤯 Before we get to the last two, I want to tell you about this client ...he had $140,000 in a safe in his basement. I can’t remember how long he had this cash sitting there, but I thought it was crazy. Sitting there, making nothing for him. This is an option that you DO NOT pick.🤯 ➡️ Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) [12:14] - This is a way to invest in real estate without managing properties. You can buy these many different ways, the simplest is to buy a REIT ETF. Another is online real estate investing, my favorite platform for this is Fundrise. ➡️ Peer-To-Peer Lending [14:25] - This allows YOU to be the bank. You are lending money to other peers. The great thing is, you can see their reasons for borrowing. This allows you to set your risk level. That is my top 7 alternatives to bank accounts. You can pick as many or as few of these options as you like. I just wanted to share that there is more than one way to invest and earn interest. Which options sounds the most attractive to you? Are you already using one or more of these options? Financial Scandal: The Collapse of the Savings and Loan Industry - Debt, Investment Bankers (1990)

55:06
Savings and loan crisis in which 747 institutions failed and had to be rescued with $160 billion in taxpayer dollars. About the book: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0684191520/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0684191520&linkCode=as2&tag=tra0c7-20&linkId=855500cf58a25ae05a0b91070e61e0f3 Reagan's "elimination of loopholes" in the tax code included the elimination of the "passive loss" provisions that subsidized rental housing. Because this was removed retroactively, it bankrupted many real estate developments which used this tax break as a premise, which in turn bankrupted 747 Savings and Loans, many of whom were operating more or less as banks, thus requiring the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to cover their debts and losses with tax payer money. This with some other "deregulation" policies, ultimately led to the largest political and financial scandal in U.S. history to that date, the savings and loan crisis. The ultimate cost of the crisis is estimated to have totaled around USD $150 billion, about $125 billion of which was directly subsidized by the U.S. government, which further increased the large budget deficits of the early 1990s. As an indication of this scandal's size, Martin Mayer wrote at the time, "The theft from the taxpayer by the community that fattened on the growth of the savings and loan (S&L) industry in the 1980s is the worst public scandal in American history. Teapot Dome in the Harding administration and the Credit Mobilier in the times of Ulysses S. Grant have been taken as the ultimate horror stories of capitalist democracy gone to seed. Measuring by money, [or] by the misallocation of national resources... the S&L outrage makes Teapot Dome and Credit Mobilier seem minor episodes." [29] Economist John Kenneth Galbraith called it "the largest and costliest venture in public misfeasance, malfeasance and larceny of all time." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reagan_administration_scandals The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The five senators -- Alan Cranston (Democrat of California), Dennis DeConcini (Democrat of Arizona), John Glenn (Democrat of Ohio), John McCain (Republican of Arizona), and Donald W. Riegle, Jr. (Democrat of Michigan) -- were accused of improperly intervening in 1987 on behalf of Charles H. Keating, Jr., Chairman of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which was the target of a regulatory investigation by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB). The FHLBB subsequently backed off taking action against Lincoln. Lincoln Savings and Loan collapsed in 1989, at a cost of over $3 billion to the federal government. Some 23,000 Lincoln bondholders were defrauded and many investors lost their life savings. The substantial political contributions Keating had made to each of the senators, totaling $1.3 million, attracted considerable public and media attention. After a lengthy investigation, the Senate Ethics Committee determined in 1991 that Cranston, DeConcini, and Riegle had substantially and improperly interfered with the FHLBB's investigation of Lincoln Savings, with Cranston receiving a formal reprimand. Senators Glenn and McCain were cleared of having acted improperly but were criticized for having exercised "poor judgment". All five senators served out their terms. Only Glenn and McCain ran for re-election, and they both retained their seats. McCain would go on to run for President of the United States twice, including being the Republican Party nominee in 2008. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keating_Five Martin Prager Mayer (born January 14, 1928, New York City) is the writer of 35 non-fiction books, including Madison Avenue, U.S.A. Why Bank CDs are Terrible

04:38
Certificate of Deposits (CD) right now is not the thing to get as interest rates are rising and you may find online savings accounts have an even higher interest rate than a CD! Given the choice, you obviously would pick a savings account over a CD because it is more liquid and you will not be penalized for breaking the terms of the CD. BEST BANK FOR NEWCOMERS TO CANADA Top Banks for Newcomers to Canada You’re lucky to be a proud new resident of Canada. You know why? Our system of chartered banks combines the innovative range of products you would expect from a major bank in the USA, with the solid stability that our financial institutions have built up over the years. Canadian chartered banks weathered the 2008 financial crisis better than most. Are they as big as an HSBC or a Wells Fargo? 19. Investment Banks

01:11:19
Financial Markets (2011) (ECON 252) Professor Shiller characterizes investment banking by contrasting it to consulting, commercial banking, and securities trading. Then, in order to see the essence of investment banking, he reviews some of the principles that John Whitehead, the former chairman of Goldman Sachs, has formulated. These principles are the basis for a discussion of the substantial power that investment bankers have, and their role in society. Government regulation of these powerful investment banks has been a thorny issue for many years, and especially so now since they played a significant role in world financial crisis of the 2000s. 00:00 - Chapter 1. Money and Finance: Crash Course Economics #11

10:36
So, we've been putting off a kind of basic question here. What is money? What is currency? How are the two different. Well, not to give away too much, but money has a few basic functions. It acts as a store of value, a medium of exchange, and as a unit of account. Money isn't just bills and coins. It can be anything that meets these three criteria. In US prisons, apparently, pouches of Mackerel are currency. Yes, mackerel the fish. Paper and coins work as money because they're backed by the government, which is an advantage over mackerel. So, once you've got money, you need finance. We'll talk about borrowing, lending, interest, and stocks and bonds. Also, this episode features a giant zucchini, which Adriene grew in her garden. So that's cool. Special thanks to Dave Hunt for permission to use his PiPhone video. this guy really did make an artisanal smartphone! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eaiNsFhtI8 Crash Course is on Patreon! Get your Capital One 360 savings account bonus with the link and high interest savings that beats traditional banks https://peerfinance101.com/capitalone360bonus I have to admit, for someone that works almost entirely online, it took a long time to switch to online banking. When I did move to a high yield savings account, I wish I had done it years earlier. Not only do I get interest up to 10-times other banks on my savings and checking account, I pay no fees and get all my ATM fees reimbursed. I signed up for a Capital One 360 savings account at first for that $25 promotion but I love the no fee banking and the high-interest savings rates. I also get all my ATM fees reimbursed which is important since I live in a foreign country. I know a lot of people are still hesitant about switching to online banking and maybe you aren’t sure how online banking works. That’s why I wanted to do this video, not only as a Capital One 360 review but as a video guide to online banking and why you should switch. I’ll start by describing how online banking works and why these no fee banks can offer high-yield savings accounts. Then I’ll share why I switched to a Capital One 360 savings and checking account and how you can take advantage of this $25 Capital One promotion. 1:25 How Does Online Banking Work? 2:33 What are High Yield Savings Accounts? 3:00 Why I Switched to Capital One 360 4:20 Capital One 360 Savings Review 6: 30 Pros and Cons of Capital One 360 Savings and Checking SUBSCRIBE to create the financial future you deserve with videos on beating debt, making more money and making your money work for you. https://peerfinance101.com/FreeMoneyVideos YouTube Community Exclusive: 55% Off my Goals-Based Investing Strategy Course! Bank Churning (I Opened 3 Savings Accounts Yesterday)

09:53
Bank churning is the process of opening multiple bank accounts and investment accounts in order to receive a signup bonus. Of these 3 savings accounts, I plan to churn one of them for $150, and the other 2 I am using to build relationships with Discover and American Express. Opening a bank account can be a good way to get your foot in the door with a bank that you may want a credit card from in the future, or simply a way to start bank churning for a quick sign up bonus.
