To create a select box we simply use the html5 document to create our markup for the select box. We will create three different select boxes using the "select" element and the "option" element for creating dropdown lists. To hide the default styling from the select element applied by the browser we will use the css3 appearance property and set its value to none. And then, we will use an another useful rule to hide the default arrows applied by Internet explorer 10; from the select box dropdown. THREE DIFFERENT METHODS THAT WE WILL BE USING Each select box will be using a different method for styling the dropdown arrow inside the combobox. - The first Method will show using an Image Background technique to create custom arrow for the CSS select box. - The second method will use the CSS border property to create a triangular shape that will be used to customize your select element's dropdown arrow. - Finally, the third method will use the fontawesome glyphicon to create our custom arrow for the selectbox dropdown. All, the method will have the cross-browser support for our custom css3 select box. Each method ensures that it works properly in the Internet explorer 10 or above and other older browser. How to Make JavaScript Dropdown List
Follow this step by step guide to learn how to make a drop down menu and integrate it with a raw java script. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.Facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on Facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ Drop down menus are nowadays integrated with functions which enhance the web usage. In this tutorial, we will learn how to make javascript dropdown list. Step 1 -- Enter the code for the List After the "body" and "html" tags, start with "form" tag. Give a title to the drop down menu. For the purpose of this tutorial, we want to make a drop down list from where people can choose their favorite sport. Next, open up the "select" tag and give it an id. Then give a function name for changing the list. For that, we have used the "on change" keyword and specified the function as favsports(). Just ignore the function for now as we will define its working later on. Once done with that, insert the different options for your drop down menu. Enclose these options between "option" tags. Once completed, close the select tag. Next, specify a narration for the output in the "p" tag. Choose the character type as text. For the purpose of this tutorial, we will name it as favorite and will specify its size as twenty. With that done, close the form tag. Step 2 -- Coding for the function Now open the script tag right above the body tag. Right beneath the script tag, we will begin with our function definition. In order to do so, specify your function name along with the function keyword, insert parenthesis and then start with the actual definition enclosed in curly brackets. In the function body, we will first explain the chosen element of menu. We are using a function of "get element by id" and specifying the element within the parameters from which we have to pick up the value, which is of course our javascript dropdown menu. It has already been named as mylist earlier. The next line is about displaying the selected option in a text box. For this purpose, we are using the "selected index" function and then passing the value to the text box, which we have named as favorite, with the "get element by id" method. Once you are done, close the script tag and then save the file as html document. Step 3 -- Open the file Now open up any browser and open the file that you just saved. The javascript dropdown list that you created will be available there. Simply choose any option from the dropdown list and it will appear in the text field right below. In this manner, you can create javascript dropdown list.

JavaScript popup window
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/01/javascript-popup-window_22.html In this video we will discuss, how to open a popup window using JavaScript. To open a popup window, use window.open() method. All the parameters are optional. window.open(URL, name, features, replace) URL - URL of the page to open. If URL is not specified, a new window with about:blank is opened name - Specifies the target attribute or the name of the window. _blank - URL is loaded into a new window. This is the default value if not specified. _parent - URL is loaded into the parent frame _self - URL replaces the current page _top - URL replaces any framesets that may be loaded name - name of the window features - Must be a comma-separated list. Some of the browsers does not support these features. menubar (yes/no) - Shows or hides the browser menu toolbar (yes/no) - Shows or hides the browser navigation bar location (yes/no) - Shows or hides the address field status (yes/no) - Shows or hides the status bar resizable (yes/no) - Whether or not the window is resizable scrollbars (yes/no) - Whether or not to display scroll bars top(pixels) - The top position of the window left(pixels) - The left position of the window height (pixels) - The height of the new window width (pixels) - The width of the new window replace - Specifies whether the URL creates a new entry or replaces the current entry in the browser history. Works only if the url is loaded into the same window. true - URL replaces the current document in the browser history list false - URL creates a new entry in the browser history list No parameters are passed to window.open() method. Since URL is not specified, a new window with about:blank will be opened. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open()" /] Most modern browsers open new tabs instead of separate windows. If you want to open the popup in a new window, one workaround I have found is to specify the URL, name, and features(height and width) parameters. This may not work in all browsers and it also depends on user's browser preferences. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', '_blank', 'height=200,width=200')" /] When name parameter is set to _self, the new window replaces the current window [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', '_self')" /] Specify where you want the new popup window to be positioned using top and left features. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', 'My Window', 'height=300,width=300, top=400, left=400')" /] Disable scrollbars and resizing. Works in IE but not in Chrome. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', 'My Window', 'height=300,width=300, scrollbars=no, resizable=no')" /] To close pouup use window.close() method. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="openPopup()" /] [input type="button" value="Close popup" onclick="closePopup()" /] [script type="text/javascript"] var popup; function openPopup() { popup = window.open("http://google.com","My Window", "height=300,width=300") } function closePopup() { popup.close(); } [/script]

HTML Tutorial 16 - Radio Buttons and Checkboxes (Forms)
In this tutorial, we continue to talk about creating HTML forms, but in addition to talking about textboxes and submit buttons, this tutorial covers how to add radio buttons and checkboxes to a form. Radio buttons can be useful for when a user is only allowed to select one option from a list of items, while checkboxes can be used to allow users to select multiple (or no) items from a list of them. In order to add radio buttons and checkboxes to our webpages, we can still use the "input" tag and the "type" attribute, but instead of using a type of "text" or "password", we can use either "radio" or "checkbox" to create radio buttons or checkboxes. How to Make PDF Files Open in a Specific View in Acrobat
Follow this step by step tutorial to learn how to view PDF files in a specific format in Acrobat. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ Acrobat Reader X can be customized to a certain extent and can be controlled in terms of how you view PDF files, such as its zoom/page size and whether the book marks panel or the page panel is shown. Such settings in Acrobat view ensure that each time the document is accessed; it is viewable according to those preset specifics which eventually makes navigation easy for the viewer. Step # 1 -- Go to the File tab Here we have the Adobe Acrobat X Help File which is a very big document and consists of more than 400 pages. In situations like these you would want the person to see the bookmarks panel when he opens the document. Secondly when the document was opened it was set to 100% zoom. In order to make changes to Settings of Acrobat view, click on the "File" tab from the menu bar and from the drop down menu select the "Properties" option. Step # 2 -- Make changes to the Settings When you click on the "Properties" option, the "Document Properties" dialog box opens. Click on the "Initial View" tab and in the "Navigation Tab" change the option to "Bookmarks Panel and Page". The other change you can make is the magnification when you view PDF files, set it to "Fit Page" and click on the "OK" button. Save the document after you are done making the changes. The next time you will open the document you will see the Bookmarks panel and the magnification will be such that the document will automatically fit the page. Step # 3 -- Make changes to your settings In case you don't want the Bookmarks panel open and instead you want to see the thumbnails of the pages, this can be done through the "Pages" panel. Go to the "File" tab and select "Properties" option and from the dialog box change the settings of the "Navigation tab" to "Pages Panel and Page". Step # 4 -- View the new settings After you are done making the changes, save the document, close it and reopen it. You will see that the page panel will now be opened automatically and you can easily navigate through the document.

HTML Tutorial 17 - Drop Down Menus and Text Areas
Continuing on with HTML forms, in this tutorial we talk about how to add drop down, or selection, menus to our webpages, as well as how to add text areas, which are different than a standard textbox. A drop-down, or selection, menu allows users to choose a value, that is an option in the menu. In our example, we create an e-mail form, where users can use a selection menu to choose a person to send an e-mail to. A text area is different than a textbox created with the "input" tag and text "type", as it can be larger and also enables users to add attributes to it. Additionally, a text area is made up of its own opening and closing tags, and anything between these two tags is included within the text area box. Thank you for watching! Javascript Scroll Tutorial Load Dynamic Content Into Page When User Reaches Bottom Ajax
Lesson Code: http://www.developphp.com/video/JavaScript/Scroll-Load-Dynamic-Content-When-User-Reach-Bottom-Ajax Learn to make dynamic page content appear only when user scrolls down to the bottom of your page content using Javascript. We are using the onscroll event for the window object and several DOM properties to create the functionality. *object.offsetHeight - *window.pageYOffset - *window.innerHeight. It serves as a smart way for dynamic websites to load only the data required to fill the window, then load more as the user scrolls down the page. You can see this effect if you have a Facebook account and you scroll down your timeline. Facebook executes new Ajax requests each time you scroll to the bottom of the page content, to load in more data to the page magically with Ajax. This way they do not have to load a lot of data to the page initially, and only spend dynamic data loading energy if the user scrolls down the page to see more and more data. Other large scale dynamic websites also use this approach to achieve efficient database data rendering in a smart modern way.
