10 Ways the Media Manipulate Our Opinions Every Day

10:25
How to tell the truth from fake news? How to avoid being manipulated? Today, we have the Internet, Twitter, Facebook and many other media sources that influence us. Unfortunately, that influence isn’t always positive and the information shared is often far from being true. Let's find out about the methods newsmakers use to manipulate our minds. You don’t want to let the media fool you, do you? TIMESTAMPS Creating a Diversion 0:51 Exaggerating a Problem 1:43 Putting Out Information Gradually 2:43 Postponing Big Decisions 3:38 Being Overly Kind 4:26 Playing Up More Feelings, Less Thinking 5:09 Keeping People Uninformed 6:12 Promoting Mediocre Products 7:00 Making People Feel Guilty 7:56 Knowing More About People Than They Do About Themselves 8:49 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -You can’t notice the important stuff among an overwhelmingly vast sea of smaller, less significant stories. The Internet only exacerbates this problem: we constantly switch our attention to funny pictures and jokes. -Sometimes an imaginary or exaggerated problem causes incredibly serious reactions from society. And that’s exactly what the media wants: attention and discussion. -The most notable example of using the media for promotion was probably the popularization of smoking in the middle of the 20th century. -To convince people to make hard or unpopular decisions, the media can present them as "painful, but absolutely necessary". But then they tell people that these decisions need to be made tomorrow, not today. -Some advertisements use language, arguments, symbols, and intonations that would be better fit for speaking with children. They’ll play your favorite childhood tune, make a plain joke and smile at you like your grandma does. -Hyped-up emotions don’t let you perceive facts critically and objectively because they block the rational part of your mind. -The media and the government can manipulate any society if that society doesn’t understand the techniques being used on them, and this happens due to a lack of education. -The media is totally content in showing people that it’s cool to be stupid, vulgar, and rude. This is why we have so many TV shows, sitcoms, movies with sequels and prequels, tabloids, and so on. -People blame themselves for wars started by governments, not themselves. The only way to fight this is to stay objective even when you’re exposed to something that makes you feel emotional and guilty. -In 2005, the British tabloid “News of the World” was caught wiretapping celebrities, politicians, and even members of the royal family. Sciences like biology, neurobiology and applied psychology help media experts get an understanding of the human mind deep enough to control them. Propaganda and Manipulation: How mass media engineers and distorts our perceptions

01:17:09
This is a second video on the psychology of propaganda and to date has been viewed by over 275, 000 people. Prof. Kroth reviews five major techniques for how American mass media manipulates and twists the view Americans have of their world. The seriousness of the distortion, and our progressive loss of contact with reality is dramatic. We are increasingly living inside a media-induced trance without knowing it. Children believe Ronald MacDonald is more real than Abraham Lincoln. From Coke to Carl's Jr., Hip-hop to the Iraq war, the role of subliminal propaganda in our lives is unveiled and exposed. This talk is based on Dr. Kroth's recent book Implosion: delusion, denial, and the prospect of collapse (formerly titled "Duped!" Propaganda Terms in the Media and What They Mean - Noam Chomsky

09:42
The United States and the Soviet Union both used propaganda extensively during the Cold War. More Chomsky: https://www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=UTF8&tag=tra0c7-20&linkCode=ur2&linkId=942ec177434aa786666a6d7163422823&camp=1789&creative=9325&index=books&keywords=noam%20chomsky Both sides used film, television, and radio programming to influence their own citizens, each other, and Third World nations. The United States Information Agency operated the Voice of America as an official government station. Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty, which were, in part, supported by the Central Intelligence Agency, provided grey propaganda in news and entertainment programs to Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union respectively. The Soviet Union's official government station, Radio Moscow, broadcast white propaganda, while Radio Peace and Freedom broadcast grey propaganda. Both sides also broadcast black propaganda programs in periods of special crises. In 1948, the United Kingdom's Foreign Office created the IRD (Information Research Department), which took over from wartime and slightly post-war departments such as the Ministry of Information and dispensed propaganda via various media such as the BBC and publishing. The ideological and border dispute between the Soviet Union and People's Republic of China resulted in a number of cross-border operations. One technique developed during this period was the "backwards transmission," in which the radio program was recorded and played backwards over the air. (This was done so that messages meant to be received by the other government could be heard, while the average listener could not understand the content of the program.) When describing life in capitalist countries, in the US in particular, propaganda focused on social issues such as poverty and anti-union action by the government. Workers in capitalist countries were portrayed as "ideologically close". Propaganda claimed rich people from the US derived their income from weapons manufacturing, and claimed that there was substantial racism or neo-fascism in the US. When describing life in Communist countries, western propaganda sought to depict an image of a citizenry held captive by governments that brainwash them. The West also created a fear of the East, by depicting an aggressive Soviet Union. In the Americas, Cuba served as a major source and a target of propaganda from both black and white stations operated by the CIA and Cuban exile groups. Radio Habana Cuba, in turn, broadcast original programming, relayed Radio Moscow, and broadcast The Voice of Vietnam as well as alleged confessions from the crew of the USS Pueblo. George Orwell's novels Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four are virtual textbooks on the use of propaganda. Though not set in the Soviet Union, these books are about totalitarian regimes that constantly corrupt language for political purposes. These novels were, ironically, used for explicit propaganda. The CIA, for example, secretly commissioned an animated film adaptation of Animal Farm in the 1950s with small changes to the original story to suit its own needs. The United States and Iraq both employed propaganda during the Iraq War. The United States established campaigns towards the American people on the justifications of the war while using similar tactics to bring down Saddam Hussein's government in Iraq. The extent to which the US government was guilty of propaganda aimed at its own people is a matter of discussion. The book Selling Intervention & War by Jon Western argued that president Bush was "selling the war" to the public. President George W. Bush gave a talk at the Athena Performing Arts Center at Greece Athena Middle and High School Tuesday, May 24, 2005 in Rochester, NY. About half way through the event Bush said, "See in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda." People had their initial reactions to the War on Terror, but with more biased and persuading information, Iraq as a whole has been negatively targeted. America's goal was to remove Saddam Hussein's power in Iraq with allegations of possible weapons of mass destruction related to Osama Bin Laden. Video and picture coverage in the news has shown shocking and disturbing images of torture and other evils being done under the Iraqi Government. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda

Media Manipulation | Mainstream News Brainwashing Through Repetition

07:38
Basically a compilation of news clips that say the exact same thing. Some of it I think can be used for brainwashing through repetition, like repeating the same thing over and over again until people fully believe it. I also think some of the clips are being used to show how gullible we are and how they (Jews) can give us the same garbage and we don't even realize it. BTW, 96% of the media is owned and controlled by Zionist Jews: http://www.ericdubay.com/?p=2543 For more info, visit: http://www.TruthCenterResearch.com SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/truth-center Twitter: https://twitter.com/TruthCenter1

Changing the hive mind -- How social media manipulation affects everything: Tim Weninger at TEDxUND

11:38
Tim Weninger, an assistant professor of computer science and engineering at the University of Notre Dame, describes a study he conducted on reddit.com in which he had a computer program up-vote or down-vote the latest post every two minutes. As he explains, the experiment shows that early random up-votes makes a post 20 percent more likely to appear on the front page. His conclusion? Just one quarter of one percent of viewers determine what the rest of the site's readers see—so don't believe every trending content rating you see online. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Seduction: How the Media and Politicians Manipulate You.

36:27
Michael Cross, author of the Freedom from Conscience" book series and host of UCY-TV's "Unlock the Door" discusses the main ways that the mainstream media and politicians manipulate the masses and shows how their strategies are not unlike a worker in a strip bar who plays with the lusts and emotions of patrons in order to make money. The topic connects the book "Freedom from Conscience - Descent into Darkness" in which a young state legislator must go undercover as a sex worker and stripper to find out who has threatened her and her family after she deals with the plight of women caught up in sex trafficking. While there she learns that seducing an audience in a bar and in the game of politics is not that much different. And in reality the media and politicians ultimately do their best to gain your trust so they can sell you products or agendas. Donald Trump's Debates: 5 Mental Tricks You Didn't Notice

10:37
Get the 4 emotions you need to make a great first impression every time: http://bit.ly/2H1opA6 Donald Trump's Debates: 5 Mental Tricks You Didn't Notice Donald Trump has proven himself to be a master persuader. His unlikely rise to prominence in the Republican primaries has riden on the fact that he knows how to work the media during interviews as well as his performances in the GOP debates against the likes of Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz. When watching the debates, many of his detractors criticize Trump's apparent lack of substance. For instance, he ducked Megyn Kelly's question about sexism with a joke about Rosie O'Donnell. He seems to repeat buzz words more than other candidates and often justifies his positions by referring to other people who support his stances, rather than defending them outright. While this may seem like weak arguments, Donald Trump's debate strategies actually align perfectly with the way humans think and process information. For that reason, Trump's arguments tend to sink in more than his opponent's (like Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz) do. In this video we'll look at the top 5 relatively unknown psychological truths that Trump exploits to get his point across during interviews and debates. Mind Control, Media Manipulation, Cyclical Programming ~ Lenon Honor

01:23:16
You can purchase my book here: http://lenonhonor360.com/911/ Chatroom: http://lenonhonor.com/mediamanipulation/ The greatest means of control is not actualized through military might, physical subjugation, or brute force. The greatest means of control is actualized through the manipulation of the psychological condition of the human species. ~ Lenon Honor This book "The 911 Fear-Based Mind Control Program" takes a critical look at the psychological impact of September 11th, 2001. It was on that date that the global population witnessed a horrific event that stimulated extreme levels of fear. This fear, which was not consciously processed, brought forth a profound trauma that was submerged within the subconscious mind of the global population. Since September 11th, 2001 mass media has consistently triggered this subconscious trauma through the use of cyclical fear-based programing. In triggering the subconscious trauma, the global population has been rendered into a state of perpetual fear. As a consequence, the global population continues to externalize power and does so without conscious awareness. This book "The 911 Fear-Based Mind Control Program" also provides solutions as to how the global population can resolve the trauma of September 11th, 2001. In resolving the trauma the global population will be empowered to step beyond the limiting restrictions of subconscious programming and embrace the infinite possibilities of conscious creativity. This book is 144 pages in length. The September 11 attacks (also referred to as September 11, September 11th, or 9/11)[nb 1] were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks launched by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda upon the United States in New York City and the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. Noam Chomsky: Media Manipulation

03:45
The Power of Media Manipulation

JBS Vice President of Communications Bill Hahn's weekly news video update for April 18 - 24, 2016. In this week's Analysis Behind the News video, JBS Vice President of Communications Bill Hahn discusses the power of the media's manipulation. Specifically, Hahn addresses the Boston Globe's hyperbolic portrayal of a hypothetical Donald Trump presidency in 2017 and another editorial article describing a potential Ted Cruz administration as "apocalyptic." With the editorial boards and departments of so many mainstream media outlets being heavily left-wing what effect does this have on the "unbiased news" they purport to deliver? HTv. International - Strategies of Manipulation by the Media

05:30
Noam Chomsky - “10 strategies of manipulation” by the media Noam Chomsky, one of the classic voices of intellectual dissent has compiled a list of the ten most common and effective strategies for manipulation of the population through the media. Thanks to the media, social moments could be destroyed, wars could be justified, institutions corrupted. The media is able to persuade and influence different opinions and beliefs or can create a state of mind. Encouraging stupidity, promoting a sense of guilt, promoting distraction, constructing artificial problems and then solving them magically are just some of those tactics. 1.The strategy of distraction diverts public attention from important issues and changes determined by the political and economic elites. The media instead bring attention to minor issues with strong emotional impact 2. Creating problems, then offering previously unacceptable solutions. For example: unleashing and intensifying urban violence, or arranging for bloody attacks to have the public ask for more security laws to the detriment of its freedom 3. The gradual strategy. People will accept detrimental socioeconomic conditions gradually under the illusion that it is for their own good. 4. The strategy of deferring. Another way to accept an unpopular decision is to present it as “painful but necessary”, gaining public acceptance, at the time, for a future application. This gives the public more time to get used to the idea of upcoming unavoidable change and accept it with resignation when the time comes. 5. Patronizing. Treating the public as a little child to develop a superficial way of thinking. 6. Appealing to emotions. Using the emotional side more than rational thinking and reflection opens the door to the unconscious for the implantation of ideas, desires, fears and anxieties and can induce irrational behaviors … 7. Depriving the public of education. A corrupt and dysfunctional education system is the ideal tool to keep citizens in ignorance 8. Encouraging mediocrity. Egging the public to be complacent with mediocrity promotes the belief that it is fashionable and rewarding to be stupid, vulgar and uneducated. 9. Strengthening self-blame. To induce individuals to blame themselves for their misfortune by believing that it is due to their own lack of intelligence, abilities or efforts 10. Getting to know individuals better than they know themselves. The system can exert greater control and great power over individuals by collecting information on their thoughts, tastes and activities. source - http://noam-chomsky.tumblr.com/post/13867896307/noam-chomsky-10-strategies-of-manipulation-by

Noam Chomsky - “10 strategies of manipulation”

02:11
Renowned critic and always MIT linguist Noam Chomsky, one of the classic voices of intellectual dissent in the last decade, has compiled a list of the ten most common and effective strategies resorted to by the agendas “hidden” to establish a manipulation of the population through the media.Historically the media have proven highly efficient to mold public opinion. Thanks to the media paraphernalia and propaganda, have been created or destroyed social movements, justified wars, tempered financial crisis, spurred on some other ideological currents, and even given the phenomenon of media as producers of reality within the collective psyche. But how to detect the most common strategies for understanding these psychosocial tools which, surely, we participate? Fortunately Chomsky has been given the task of synthesizing and expose these practices, some more obvious and more sophisticated, but apparently all equally effective and, from a certain point of view, demeaning. Encourage stupidity, promote a sense of guilt, promote distraction, or construct artificial problems and then magically, solve them, are just some of these tactics

How market makers use media to manipulate traders

Congratulations to all who followed my call and bought oil! What a great rally. But let’s analyse what was happening around all this time and what made me so angry… A lot of people were afraid to buy oil. They heard on TV and other media, that Russia and Saudi Arabia want cheap oil + output increase. Really? Who told you that? Analysts? – Oh this ‘trusted’ people… Each of them works for bank, hedge fund etc. So, please tell me, do you believe bank pays them salary for giving you free advises? Com’on, money doesn’t appear from air. If someone makes money, someone has to lose it. Yes, my dear, you are their victims, you are potential resource of their wealth. Sad, but true. Their task is to bring some information to you and manipulate your trading decisions. The best what you can do for yourself is to stop listening to these guys! Think outside the box!..... https://ladyf-trader.com/2018/07/01/how-big-players-use-media-to-manipulate-traders/ Subscribe to trading signals https://ladyf-trader.com/trading-signals/ Learn more about managed accounts https://ladyf-trader.com/managed-accounts/ Follow me Instagram https://www.instagram.com/ladyf.trader/ Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Lady-F-1543716779288294/ Twitter https://twitter.com/lady_ladyf #trading #marketmanipulation #tradingtips

Buying The War: Media Manipulation

01:23:09
Examining the lies that led the U.S. to war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Over a decade ago Bush administration forced the United States into a war so poorly prepared and executed it soon turned into a complete catastrophe. The fact of how the bureaucrats misled the country has been already expressed, but they couldn't have done it by themselves; they needed an obedient and docile press, to propagate their disinformation as actual news and encourage them to continue to do so. Since then thousands of people have perished, and many are suffering and dying to this day. Yet the story of how the media was sold to the White House has not been elaborated in depth. If we look back at the moments before the invasion, we'll see that the US media relinquished its liberty and doubt to a great extent to accompany the US government in advancing to war. Two weeks before he'll command America to war, President Bush calls a media conference to convince the people for removing Saddam Hussein from power. His administration has been persistent to associate Iraq with 9/11. Many times during this meeting he will call upon 9/11 and Al Qaeda to legitimize a deterrent attack on a country that has not assaulted America. The seed of this story lies in the terror of 9/11... Like everyone else media was bewildered by the horror and havoc on that day. As people responded to the barbarity of a terrorist attack a flood of unity spread across the country. And as the military prepared to attack the terrorists, there was almost zero tolerance for condemnatory inspection by the media.
