Is your market research subject to analysis bias?

15:36
Bias can get introduced at various points in a market research project. Here is a look at an often overlooked source of bias: bias that gets introduced during analysis and reporting. Professional researchers are often trained to mitigate bias during the research planning and data collection phases of a project. For example, survey researchers are trained to word questions and select scales that mitigate bias. And moderators are trained to ask questions and probe using techniques that mitigate bias. But what about after data collection? When data (quantitative or qualitative) is being analyzed, synthesized and reported? Tip: This conversation is a great one for a team "lunch-and-learn." We suggest watching the video as a team, and then using the following discussion questions: 1. Thinking about the team's most recent projects, do you think there was any bias introduced during the analysis or reporting phase? 2. Is your team comfortable reporting "bad news"? 3. Does your team use any techniques during the report writing process to mitigate over-relying on researcher recall or researcher-cultural bias?

SWOT analysis in practice - Starbucks -------------------------------- Strategy analysis has two main branches – analysis of a firm’s external environment and analysis of a firm’s internal environment. SWOT is a famous framework that allows us to combine the two types of analysis. SWOT is sometimes referred to as internal-external analysis. The acronym SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. The first two, Strengths and Weaknesses, are related to a firm’s internal environment, while the last two, Opportunities and Threats, consider its external environment. Internal strengths and external opportunities are vertically paired as helpful elements, while internal weaknesses and external threats are paired as harmful elements. if we perform a company analysis, under strengths, we would expect to see its core competences, the areas where the business excels and has a competitive advantage over competitors. Weaknesses are areas that need improvement. Such vulnerabilities place a company at a disadvantage when competing against other firms. Opportunities can be seen as favorable factors existing in a company’s external environment, in the industry where it operates, and have the potential to improve its current results and competitive positioning. Threats arise in a company’s external environment and might harm its current business.

Where Can I Research Market, Competitve, & Industry Analysis | The Startup Garage

02:07
http://www.TheStartupGarage.com Nicole Morris: Greetings, welcome back to Video Friday at The Startup Garage. We had a question come in from Brian and he would like to know where to go about finding the Market, Competitive, and Industry research? Tyler Jensen: That's a great question. There are a number of different sources that we use to find all the research. One of the first places I start with generally is industry associations or trade associations for a particular industry that you're going to be in. A lot of times they collect the data that you're really going to want to know about the industry and sometimes the market. The second place is just a simple Google search -- really getting into google and searching for the data that you're looking for is a great place to start, especially on the competitive analysis because your competitors are going to be online most likely, or they're probably not a competitor. The other place that I would say which surprises a lot of people is that the library has access to a lot of databases. These databases cost a lot of money, but if you go through your library you can get free access to them. And then the last place that is very helpful that I would definitely recommend, don't be shy doing is go build a team of advisors. These are probably the best resource. They're going to be great right here in the beginning, but they're also going to be able to be a resource as you move forward through your business. So go reach out to friends, colleagues, get introduced to other people, go on LinkedIn, and just reach out randomly to people that might have information that you're looking for. Most people will say "yes" if you just ask "Hey can I have 5 or 10 minutes of your time to ask you a few questions. So these are probably the main places that you want to start to get all this research information together to really help you with your business and your business plan. Nicole: Very cool, I didn't know that about the libraries. Yeah we'll see you next week. http://www.TheStartupGarage.com Follow us on Twitter - @startup_garage https://twitter.com/startup_garage Connect with Tyler Jensen on LinkedIn - www.linkedin.com/in/tylerwjensen
4. How To Identify Stock Market Direction (Trends) Part 1

06:25
Want to learn how to gauge the future price of your stock? Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wL0McpX-l0 Visit: https://www.learnapp.co ------------------------------------------------------- Learn To Trade - How MarketScientist works: http://marketscientist.in/how-marketscientist-works-faqs/ MarketScientist Courses: http://marketscientist.in/courses/ Follow Prateek's Trading day @ mentor posts : http://marketscientist.in/category/prateek-singh-s-analysistrades-resident-marketscientist/ ------------------------------------------------------------------ Transcript market direction is actually referred to in the technical world as "trends" So a stock moving upwards, is in an uptrend And a stock moving downwards is in a downtrend sometimes stocks reach in a no trade zone or a sideways and this happens because as soon as markets go up it forces a situation of supply and when markets fall down it forces a situation of demand coming in. This was seen in the earlier half of December 2012 on the nifty hourly charts. Lets move on, when we use concepts of supply and demand over long periods of time you must realise that psychology exists on all timeframes, Except of course in tick-charts; wherever you have good volume, markets will always behave in the same way if your concept is technically sound. So let's see how you can become your own amateur financial analyst, determining whether your stock that you are stuck in or making a profit, might continue to move up or might continue to move down. Si the first thing we are going to learn is about a rally and a decline A rally and decline are seen on a per bar basis, meaning we look at one bar and then the next. Simply put a rally is an upmove A Decline is simply a down move They together form something more important, which we will discuss later lets look at a rally first, So this is one bar this isn't enough information, the next bar breaks the previous bars high and this continues to happen Now you will notice that every bar is breaking the previous bars high and its also having a higher low. This means the market is in rally mode. Also remember in a real market situation this may not happen consecutively but a general move up is still considered a rally. A decline is just the opposite, and I'm sure intuitively u have understood what I'm about to draw here. So the market falling down each consecutive bar breaking the previous bars low and making a lower low every bar So that's very simple, here is another rally, which makes a new high and here is another decline. so now that we have that, you can see that we have formed a wave structure, markets will always move in waves, markets will never plunge down or move up unless it's an erratic day or days. Over general long periods of time, markets will always move in waves and this is very healthy. So now that we have understood a rally and decline let's move on to swing highs and a swing low. Simply put the meeting point of a rally an upmove and the immediate decline; this tent, mountain or this peak is called a swing high. the opposite of this is a swing low, meaning the meeting point of a decline and the immediate rally is a swing low. Now trends are made up of swing highs and lows, people call these by different names but all technicals follow this because a swing high is a naturally place of resistance, it basically means that the markets rallied hit a supply point, either buying diminished of too much selling happened and we fell, now the longer time frame between a swing high is untouched the more important it becomes. At MarketScientist we follow trend following methods/systems, so awhat we discuss in this video and the next is extremely important, if you don't understand please rewind or you can ask questions by emailing us or writing it in the comments below. Here is a real example of a chart, this chart belongs to nifty and it is basically in downtrend, but what we have to look now is the swing highs and swing lows. I want you to take am moment and try to find the latest swing highs u can see here I'm helping you a bit and marking all of the swing highs on this chart. I've marked them with green circles. Next step is to identify swing lows, now before we proceed I want you to pause and take your time and look at the swing highs and know that you have understood this. We are basically looking for peaks (swing highs) and crests (swing lows). I'm marking the first the swing lows for you and I want you to mark the resting your head or write it down somewhere. Pause this video and find out all the swing lows, we will meet in the next video with the answers.... I'll be waiting for you then.

Business Analyst Interview Questions and Answers – How to Really Sell Your BA Skills

08:19
If you are preparing for your first business analyst job interview or if it’s been awhile since you’ve interviewed, you are probably wondering what questions you can expect and how to answer them. Interviewing for a business analyst job is very different than interviewing for a more technical or domain-focused role. In particular, what’s different is how you answer questions to position your skills to a potential employer. I’ve been on both sides of the business analyst job interview process multiple times – I’ve hired several BAs and, while I was contracting, I interviewed for several BA positions. In this video, I share my insider tips on how to prove you have the business analysis skills your employer wants to see in an interview. And here is the link to the free Interview Prep Guide I mention in the video: http://www.bridging-the-gap.com/prepare-for-ba-job-interview/ Read more on the blog now: http://www.bridging-the-gap.com/ba-interview-sell-skills/

Introducing the Sure Analysis Research Database: Your Questions Answered

02:39
This video introduces the Sure Analysis Research Database. You can sign up for a 7-day free trial of Sure Analysis here: https://suredividend.memberful.com/checkout?plan=29061 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- In this video, I share the details of Sure Analysis, our new platform to share high-quality investment research. Sure Analysis is our highest level of investment research. It provides value in three ways: 1. Through a library of detailed, 2-page research reports on individual dividend stocks (the investment universe currently contains more than 275 dividend-paying stocks and is expanding rapidly over time) 2. Through an Excel database that contains the quantitative traits for each company in the database. This allows you to search for companies within our investment universe that meet certain characteristics for yield, dividend history, or valuation. 3. Through three separate monthly newsletters: the Sure Dividend Newsletter, the Sure Retirement Newsletter, and the Sure Dividend International Newsletter I’m going to explain each of these three components in detail throughout the rest of this video. We’ll start by talking about the library of two-page research reports that form the backbone of a subscription to Sure Analysis. Our Sure Analysis research reports are focused on identifying investment opportunities with the highest expected total returns. Each research report incorporates factors like dividend yield, potential valuation expansion, and per-share business growth to arrive at an annualized estimate for 5-year total returns. Reports also include datasets on historical earnings, dividend payments, valuation multiples, and payout ratios so that you can see a company’s performance trend over time. The second component of Sure Analysis is the Excel document that compiles the information contained in each 2-page research reports. The database also contains important information like market capitalization, dividend history, and the PEG ratio popularized by Peter Lynch. Most importantly, it allows you to screen our entire investment universe to find the most compelling investment opportunities at any given time. The last component of a Sure Analysis subscription is access to our three monthly newsletters: the Sure Dividend Newsletter, the Sure Retirement Newsletter, and the Sure Dividend International Newsletter. Since many Sure Analysis subscribers already read one or more of our newsletters, we’ve bundled them with Sure Analysis to intentionally minimize your pricing complexity. We believe that Sure Analysis provides far more in value than what we charge for it. An annual subscription costs $299 and your price will never increase after joining. Feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you!

How to analyze survey stats | AYTM Market Research

11:38
Learn how to read stat reports of your online survey, use filters, build interactive word clouds and 3D visualizations, export charts and raw data, produce beautiful power point reports and share the findings with your colleagues. See more at https://aytm.com Partial transcript, see more at aytm.com: Hi, and welcome to the AYTM.com Stats Page Tutorial Video. In this demo I’ll show you how to get more from your research investment, and arrive from data to insights quicker than ever. You’ll learn how to slice and dice your responses, produce stunning reports and visualizations, and let technology do the heavy-lifting of data-crunching for you. Here is a real demo survey we’ve run on our platform that contains all question types for illustration purposes. As you can see, all my questions, answers with interactive charts, and data grids, are presented in the main column on the right. Each question has a dedicated slide here and can be collapsed to take less space on your screen, or expanded when you click on the dark grey header. Each header contains the icon representing the question type, question number, and question text. On the right, all relevant questions will have a direct link to the Personality Radar which I’ll touch on in a bit. On the left I have a sidebar that contains the main controls. As with the rest of the site, the sidebar will follow me as I scroll through the survey. The main column header gives me a quick glance at the number of respondents collected and ordered, and the timestamp of the survey. This talking cloud icon opens a separate page with all open ended answers collected in the survey, allowing you to review and reject respondents, and see their verbatims in the context of their traits and other comments. To the right is the main gateway to AYTM’s beyond-survey technology, Personality Radar. Personality Radar helps you identify clusters of your target audience in relationship to the answers respondents gave to the survey. You can think about it as Big Data without the headache. In this case, data relevant to your study are drawn from our proprietary, ever-growing database and presented in a unique, engaging user interface. Simply click the button to experience it for yourself, and click the video tutorial icon here to watch the video. The last button in the header allows you to refresh the stats page while your survey is in progress in order to see the latest results. A couple of words about charts - You can rollover sections of pie charts and columns, hide certain answers by clicking on the legend above histograms, and click here to download the chart as an image. Different formats are available, including PDF and SVG. Under most charts you’ll see the data grid by default, presented in the same order of your survey questions. You can click the “Responses” header here to sort answers by popularity, or reset to default by clicking on the “Answers” header. Please note that answer choices are color coded in the grid with matching colors, so that you can find them more easily on the chart. If an answer had an “Other, please specify” answer field, you will see a talking cloud icon next to it in the grid. This is a shortcut to the verbatim page, filtered down to these answers only. If your survey contained skip logic, you’ll see the familiar rabbit icon; you can click it to auto scroll the stats page to the destination question. Let me show you how different question types look on the stats page. If you gave respondents some context, such as an image, video, instructions, or text, you’ll see them here for your reference. Here’s a simple single choice question. Here’s a multiple choice where each respondent could have selected more than one answer. This question type defaults to the column chart. Open-ended answers, as well as combobox and cascade answers, are presented as an interactive word cloud, which has its own demo video. For now I’ll mention that it has built in text clean up and analytics, a black list and word frequency list, word proximity visualisation, controls for changing the size, colors, fonts, angles, adding custom and AYTM-designed masks, as well as a menu of house themes, vertical mode, and export into a professional vector EPS format for graphic designers. Good stuff. I recommend playing with a live example to fully appreciate it. Matrix questions, and some of the advanced question types like distribution, will have a summary chart showing all sub-questions next to each other, plus an individual chart and grid for each sub-question. Questions with quantifiable answers, such as “star rating” or “ranking,” allow you to calculate raw scores for each tested item, or default to the frequency of items being awarded X number of stars, being placed on the first position, and so forth.... McKinsey Case Interview Example - Solved by ex-McKinsey Consultant

28:57
Watch now a McKinsey-style case solved by an ex-McKinsey consultant! Do you want to watch a case interview where I interview a real candidate using this very same case? Go to www.craftingcases.com/BEDANDBATH to get that video. I added my comments to it, where I tell you what she did right, what she did wrong, and what you should be learning from her major mistakes. This case could be found in a first round or in a final-round partner interview in McKinsey, Bain, or BCG, in any office around the world. Most candidates would not be able to create a MECE framework to this case - I would say 60-80% would not pass. The reason is that this is an unusual, out-of-the-box case question. Pre-made frameworks like Victor Cheng's, Case in Point's, and others would not help. In this video, you will watch me, Julio, an ex-Bainee, interviewing Bruno, ex-McKinsey, with a hard, MBB-level case. A tough one. Bruno can get away safely. He would definitely get an offer based on this. Would you? Table of contents (so you can find stuff later in the future): 00:34 - Case question 03:21 - Bruno's answer 10:29 - Brainstorming question 11:35 - Bruno's answer to Brainstorming question 16:22 - Follow-up question and answer 19:28 - Analytical question 21:10 - Bruno's answer 26:31 - Recommendation question 26:54 - Bruno's recomendation If you'd like to see more case interview examples like this one, let us know in the comments and we'll definitely act upon it. 08 common Interview question and answers - Job Interview Skills

12:25
08 common Interview question and answers - Job Interview Skills 1. "Tell me a little about yourself." You should take this opportunity to show your communication skills by speaking clearly and concisely in an organized manner. Because there is no right or wrong answer for this question, it is important to appear friendly. 2. "What are your strengths?" This is a popular interview question. They want to know what you think of yourself. Although this is a general question, there is a wrong and right answer. The wrong answer is a generic answer saying you are organized and friendly. Although it will not hurt you during the interview, it will certainly not help you either. Answer this question based on the type of job you are applying for. 3. "What are your weaknesses?" For this answer, you should display a weakness that can be seen as a strength. There are many types of answers that will work. Some answers will be good answers for certain jobs, while the same answer will be a bad answer for a different job. Select an answer that will work for the position you are applying for. 4. "Where do you see yourself in five years?" This question primarily depends on where you are in your career. A person with 5 years of experience will have different goals than a person with no work experience. This question is asked to see how serious a candidate is about his or her career. Some people might not know their goals, and some people might have goals of becoming rich and retiring early. Those are incorrect answers for this question. The type of answer you want to give is an ambitious answer that shows you really love your career. A good interviewer will read between the lines and find out if a person is going to be a hard worker or just a mediocre one. Being descriptive and shooting for a big goal is something interviewers want to hear. 5. "What do you know about our company?" A typical job interview question, asked to find out how much company research you have conducted, is "What do you know about this company?" Prepare in advance, and in a word, research, so you can provide relevant and current information about your prospective employer to the interviewer. 6. "Are you good at dealing with change?" Dealing with change is common in the work place. A simple yes will not be sufficient to impress the interviewer. This is another type of question where everyone will have similar answers. Of course everyone is going to claim being excellent dealing with change. You got to communicate that you are really good at dealing with change. 7. "Do you work well under pressure?" In most cases, the best answer to this question is answering yes. Working well under pressure is a good trait to have. However, I think if you answer that you work the same with pressure and without pressure, the interviewer will be more impressed. However, you will need to explain in words why this is better. 8. "How do you make important decisions?" There are many ways to answer this question, and if you have a reasonable method of making decisions, it will probably be sufficient. One answer I thought of included not being afraid of asking your manager. You can follow up by saying even the best needs mentoring, and you always want to improve. So basically, this could work as an answer, but depending on the job, you might have a better shot with an answer like my example.
