You can post the same content on multiple social sites as Google DOES NOT penalize for duplicate content. When you perform a search for any localized term you'll notice a map at the top and 3 localized listings. You want your business to be placed within there. By setting up Google My Business you are likely to get placed in there. Just submit your business name, address, and phone number. Step #2: Optimize for localized SEO. Under the local pack are organic listings, you can also be placed there. Place localized keywords within your webpage. Make sure you also include your address, location and contact details on your website. Once you do that ask your local chamber of commerce to mention your business. By getting localized links you will rank higher for local keywords. Step #3: Increase your click through rate. Having a well-placed listing doesn't ensure you will get traffic. Generate more reviews so you can get more clicks. You can do this by asking your customers to leave reviews online. Also, use schema markup so your listing stands out. If you are using WordPress the Yoast SEO plugin will automatically add schema markup. Step #4: Don't rely on Google. Use sites like Tripadvisor and Yelp to get more local traffic. Encourage reviews on these sites and do whatever you can to satisfy customers. When someone leaves a bad review, take their feedback to heart and work on improving the experience for future customers.

Social media marketing, it's already competitive. How are you going to stand out from the crowd when your mom and dad are already on Facebook? Hey everyone, I'm Neil Patel, and today I'm going to share with you how you can stand out from the crowd with social media marketing. Tip #1: Leverage the new innovative channels out there. Facebook and Instagram are old. But you know what? On these social sites, they continually innovate. Who's Facebook trying to be? YouTube. So what does Facebook roll out? Facebook Watch. It's their version of showing live TV shows, just like YouTube. Facebook wants a slice of the action. If you post your video content to Facebook, they'll instantly give you a ton of views. Why? Because they want you to move all your video content over to Facebook. That's innovative, right? #2: Be transparent. The thing with marketing is that everyone sees it for what it is. Consumers these days see right through the gimmicks. So whatever you do, do you. But if you really want to stand out with social media marketing, be transparent. Lying and telling people that they're going to get results that they're not going to get, it's just going to make people not like you. Look at sites like smartpassiveincome.com run by Pat Flynn. Pat was an architect, and now he's just like, "Hey let me create a blog telling people and showing them "how I'm making money online "and let me even show 'em my numbers "and prove that these are my real stats." And people love it. It's all about being transparent, his marketing has taken off, and he's one of the most popular bloggers and even podcasters out there because he's transparent. And that's the cool part. By being transparent, you're gonna get a following of people being like, "Oh, cool, you're showing all of your amazing moments "and all your terrible moments." If you want to be transparent with your social media marketing leave a comment with your ideas and I'll tell you if it's going to work or if it won't. I've tested a lot of this stuff out, like on the Neil Patel blog; I shared my journey all the way from going from zero to a hundred thousand visitors a month. #3: Use videos. Look, you're watching me. You know the past few months I've been doing a ton of videos, I've been going to conferences, events, and you know what people have been saying? Neil, you have amazing content. I'm like, "Great you love my content. "What was the latest piece of content that you liked?" I'm just trying to get feedback on how I can improve. And they're like, "Oh, your video on X, Y, and Z topic." They're not talking about my podcasts; they're not talking about my blog content even though my blog content gets way more traffic. Everyone's talking about my video content. Why is that? It's because it's helping me build a deeper connection with you. Sure, there are lots of comments on my videos, but I also do that in my blog comments. Why isn't my blog growing as fast? People want videos; it's how they connect with one another. So, create videos. It's not about text-based content these days; it's not about audio-based content, if you want to stand out from the crowd it's all about videos. #4: Be a long-term thinker. Look at Gary Vaynerchuk; you think he's successful, right? He is. Did it happen overnight? No, it didn't. He had Wine Library TV before that, then he created his agency, then did the DailyVee, and eventually, yes, you're seeing him everywhere, but it took him a long time before he got to where he is. And the same with me. You think I'm an overnight success? No, I've been doing this for over 16 years. That's a long time. No, you don't have to put in 16 years like I am before you start seeing results and making money, but if you want to really succeed in the marketing world, you have to think of it as a three-plus year plan. Don't expect amazing things in the first six months; you'll see some traction. After the first year, you're going to start seeing growth. After the second year, things are going to start skyrocketing. After three years, assuming you're pushing hard every single week, then things are going to start blowing up. But, if you don't do it consistently you won't do well. It's all about the long game. By participating you'll realize what people like, and what they don't want. You'll understand what content works and what content doesn't. The second thing you want to do is join subreddits. What subreddits are, are sections of Reddit. Reddit talks about everything out there, but you know what they're subsections on fashion, marketing, even weed. There's sections on everything out there on Reddit. If you're into Bitcoin and Ethereum, you'll also find subreddits on those topics. Now that you're participating in subreddits and you've joined them, again you want to participate in the community see what they like in those subreddits and what they don't. The next thing you want to do is be transparent. Redditers can smell marketers from a mile away, and that's why most people struggle with monetizing and getting traffic from Reddit. If you're not transparent, people are going to sniff you out, and none of your content's going to do well. The fourth thing you want to do is replicate the content that's already doing well on Reddit, and a create better version of it. When you submit, and you've participated, you have this community, you have this following on Reddit, you'll find that they'll start voting up your stuff. It'll begin to generating you traffic, and over time you'll get more visitors to your site, but there's one caveat. When you're trying to get a lot of traffic from Reddit, you'll struggle if you do what I do. If you go to neilpatel.com you'll notice I have sliders, popups, and all these things because I want to collect a lot of emails. Redditers hate that, so if you're using Hello Bar to collect all of your emails, put in there within the settings you can say don't show it to people coming from Reddit and by doing that, the Redditers won't be ticked off when they come to your site. But if your site, in general, is very aggressive, what'll happen is no one will want to share your content, they're going to all download it and you're going to get no traffic from Reddit.

This is a very complicated world. It’s a very noisy world. And we’re not going to get a chance to get people to remember much about us. No company is! And so, we have to be really clear on what we want them to know about us. Now Apple, fortunately, is one of half-a-dozen best brands in the whole world. Right up there with Nike, Disney, Coke, Sony — it is one of the greats of the greats. Not just in this country, but all around the globe. But even a great brand needs investment and caring if it’s going to retain its relevance and vitality. And the Apple brand has clearly suffered from neglect in this area in the last few years. And we need to bring it back! The way to do that is NOT to talk about speeds and fees. It’s NOT to talk about bits and mega-hertz. It’s NOT to talk about why we are better than Windows. The dairy industry tried for 20 years to convince you that milk was good for you. It’s a lie, but they tried anyway. And the sales were falling. And then they tried “Got milk” and the sales went up. “Got milk” wasn’t even talking about the product. In fact, it focuses on the absence of the product. But the best example of all, and one of the greatest jobs of marketing that the universe has ever seen, is Nike. Remember, Nike sells a commodity. They sell shoes!!! And yet, when you think of Nike you feel something different than a shoe company. In their ads, as you know, they don’t ever talk about the product. They don’t ever tell you about their air soles and why they are better than Reebok’s air soles. What does Nike do in their advertising? They honor great athletes. And they honor great athletics. That’s who they are, that’s what they are about! Apple spends a fortune on advertising — you’d never know it….you’d never know it! So…when I got here, Apple just fired their agency and there was a competition with 23 agencies that…you know…four years from now we would pick one. And we blew that up and we hired Chiat\Day, the ad agency that I was fortunate enough to work with years ago and created some award winning work including the commercial voted the best ad ever made, 1984 (by Advertising Professionals). And…we started working about eight weeks ago, and the question we asked was, “Our customers want to know who is Apple and what is it that we stand for…where do we fit in this world?” And what we’re about isn’t making boxes for people to get their jobs done — although we do that well. We do that better than almost anybody, in some cases. But Apple is about something more than that! Apple at the core…its core value — is that, we believe that people with passion can change the world for the better. That’s what we believe! And we have had the opportunity to work with people like that. We’ve had the opportunity to work with people like you; with software developers, with customers, who have done it. In some big, and some small ways. And we believe that, in this world, people can change it for the better. And that those people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones that actually do! And so, what we’re going to do in our first brand marketing campaign in several years, is to get back to that core value! A lot of things have changed. The market is in a total different place than where it was a decade ago. And Apple is totally different — and Apple’s place in it is totally different. And believe me, the products, and the distribution strategy, and the manufacturing are totally different…and we understand that. But values and core values — those things shouldn’t change. The things that Apple believed in at its core, are the same things Apple really stands for today. It tracks your visitor count if you have a lot of traffic. They'll sample the data unless you pay like a hundred or a hundred and fifty grand or whatever their price is per year. Google Analytics will show you how people are engaging throughout your site and what traffic sources are causing most conversions. Don't optimize for traffic. Optimize for traffic that causes conversions. 3:00 The second digital marketing tool I have for you is Ubersuggest. You're going to want to get rankings. You're going to want more search traffic. It's the most consistent traffic that you'll get. Yes. Social media traffic is easier and quicker to get. But Google's algorithm updates aren't as crazy as Facebook's. It won't be where one day you're getting 300,000 visitors from Facebook organic reach and the next day you're getting 10,000 visitors. Google's organic traffic is very, very consistent. So use Ubersuggest. 3:40 The third digital marketing tool I have for you is Google Search Console. We love doing this internally, where we take Google search console, we log in; we look at all the posts, how many impressions they get, how many clicks they get and the click-through rate. We look for the posts that get less than a five percent click-through rate. We look at all the keywords that were getting impressions from that post, and then we integrate those keywords into that blog post or that landing page, and we rewrite that content. 7:30 The fourth digital marketing tool is Crazyegg. Crazyegg shows me how people are engaging with my website. How far they're scrolling. Where they're clicking. It allows me to take that data and, within Crazyegg, you don't have to be a developer, you don't have to be a designer. You can adjust your page and run A/B tests to maximize your sales. Because it's not just about getting traffic, it's about converting those visitors into conversions. Another tool that I love using is called Subscribers. It's through push notifications. People will come through to your website, but they don't come back. 8:00 The fifth digital marketing tool is called Subscribers. It's through push notifications. People will come through to your website, but they don't come back. What it does is it puts a little browser notification when people come to your site and gets them to subscribe without being obtrusive, it does it all within the browser. 9:00 The last digital marketing tool that I'm going to give you guys that you guys should check out is HubSpot. HubSpot's a great tool to look at your overall marketing, your lead count. It integrates marketing with sales, and that's why I want to end with HubSpot. I love it. I use it, and sure some people may say "Hey, there are other tools that do this or that." HubSpot has a lot of free plans, and they have some startup plans, which is very entrepreneur friendly, and best of all is they keep adding more and more stuff for free, so why not? They're a huge billion dollar company that are trying to crush their competitors, so they're just releasing a lot of stuff for free. Hey, that's for your benefit. 10:00 All this data and these digital marketing tools, with no action, is useless. You're better off saving the money and not even paying or using any of them. One of them is what you already have (the “about us” page, or your “mission statement”). The other bucket is – what people want. They want what they’re searching for. So again – what is content marketing? It’s creating valuable, relevant, and consistent content in order to attract a specific audience. ------- How To “Do” Content Marketing? 1.Have a content platform Now that you know what it is, how do you actually “do” content marketing? It starts by having a platform. You need a content management system – think WordPress, Drupal. 2.Create regular content You have your platform, and now it’s time to start playing the game. Think about your audience. What do they need? What do they fear? Find the value that they’re looking for that helps them, informs them, or in some way improves what they’re already doing. 3.Create “evergreen” content Think of an evergreen tree. It’s green all year, it doesn’t shed, but at certain times of the year, like during Christmas, thousands of people are looking for evergreen trees to put in their homes. Think about content that could be relevant year-round, but also have episodic spikes of interest throughout the year. That’s the type of content that will produce the most value. 4.Have “hooks” to build an audience you can talk to As a nonprofit – you’re probably giving away free content, and free things all the time. Well, you will lose money if you continue to do that. This is why you need a “hook”. In other words – “why would somebody give you their information?” For this example, let’s think about an e-mail. If you get the person’s e-mail, and that permission to talk to them, the next time you put out free content you can reach out to them. You can also contact them the next time you do a fundraiser, or when looking for volunteers, etc. That’s how you build your audience. This is the most valuable asset that your organization will have. 5.Content distribution You created all this amazing content, now how do you get it out there? There are two simple ways. One is SEO – Search Engine Optimization. You have to build your site using the right keywords, and put it where people can find it. The other way to distribute your content is through SMO – Social Media Optimization. You can talk to anybody you want on social media. Create relationships. Perhaps you’ve written an article that highlights a different organization, or a product? Let them know! At some point they might feature your organization on their site. That’s the cycle you want to create. ------- You Must Measure It! This is the most important. How will you know if what you’re doing, is right? Look at your Google Analytics, and check what the data say. Then – adjust based on the results. Look for how people are searching for your types of content, and mimic what’s out there. Here’s an interesting stat: the National Retail Federation shows that 40% of shoppers start their holiday shopping before Halloween. So if you’re not prepared for the holiday season by October 1st, you’re missing out! But what is the best online marketing strategy for the holidays? Here are 7 tips to get you ready for the holiday season: 1 - Figure out what holidays you’d like to run promotions for and what those promotions should be (such as a coupon for 25% off, or buy 1 get 1 free, etc…). It’s ideal to plan this annually for the entire year and then adjust as you go. But for the main holiday season you really need to be prepared by September 1st. 2 - Create leaderboard banners for your website to promote the holiday. You can also create landing pages for your website if needed, but in many cases, the leaderboard banner will do the job just fine. 3 - Write the ad copy and design all the ads for the holiday promo. Match your leaderboard banner design. Design ads for all your major marketing channels (Google, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc..) 4 - Design email template for the holiday promo. These should also match the leaderboard banner and ad designs (are you sensing a theme?) 5 - Determine when you want the holiday campaign to run and what daily budget you’d like to invest. 6 - Put somebody in charge of taking the campaign live (activating coupons, adding leaderboard banners, activating the ads, sending the emails, etc..) and, just as importantly - taking everything down at the scheduled time. 7 - Record your results and make adjustments for the next holiday. But even though I'm saying they suck, I still use paid ads and I use them every single day. But that doesn't mean that's the only way to grow your business. Hey, everyone, I'm Neil Patel, and today, I'm going to share with you five sneaky ways you can expand your blog without paid ads. #1 Go on the social web. So whether it's Facebook or Twitter, and see what people are saying about your competitors. Everyone's talking about your competitors. I hate to say it; you're not the only popular one out there. That's just the reality, and you know what, your competitors may even be more popular than you. But when you see more people talking negatively about your competition, or you see them talking positively about your competition, you want to engage in their conversation #2 The second strategy you want to do is go comment on your competitor's blog. Your competitors have blog posts. Who says you can't comment on them? If you comment, you engage and don't be negative. Don't be like, "Oh, we're better than you "or we have better content." You can just be like, "Nice post. "I love how you covered X, Y, and Z." You can give some tips and then you can even say, "Oh, we also cover this, that and the other "that you don't on your blog post and if you're interested, "you can check it out here," and link back to your site. It's an amazing way to get traffic from your competitors. #3 The third strategy I have for you go to ahrefs.com, put in your competitor blog URL and see who's linking to them. Hit up each and every single one of those people and send them a simple email. "Hey John, I noticed you're linking to XYZ.com, "and you linked out to this specific article related to "online marketing. "We have a similar post, but ours covers "20 more advanced ways you can double your traffic. "Cheers, Neil Patel." By doing that and shooting out emails to other people or linking to your competitors and it's just a casual email. You noticed, in that email, I didn't say, "Hey, you should link out to me. "You should promote me." No, I'm not that direct. I'm just starting a conversation, making it super casual and by doing that, more people are likely to start including my blog posts on their website and link to me. I'm getting all that data from ahrefs.com because it shows me every single site that's linking to my competitor. So, Buzzsumo shows you the most popular articles or the least popular articles that your competitors have. If you put in their blog URL and it'll show you all of their most popular posts sorted by social shares. Once you have that, what you want to do with Buzzsumo is take their most popular posts and write better versions of them. So, use Brian Dean's Skyscraper Technique. So if they wrote a post on 20 amazing ways to do yoga poses, I would write an article on 101 advanced techniques to do yoga poses, right? As you can tell, based on the title, I don't know much about yoga. But you get the point. I'm just one-upping them and doing something that's way more detailed. And then, in Buzzsumo, it shows you who shared your competitors content when you click on the View Shares link. Then I would hit up every single one of those people and then ask them to share my content as well. Last but not least, no one's perfect. Everyone has a complaint. If you say you don't have any complaints, I call BS. I complain about stuff all the time, and I bet you people are complaining about your competitors every single day. So go on the social web, find out who's complaining, help them out and tell them about your blog. You're going to turn their haters into your evangelists. Do those five sneaky things and you will get more traffic to your blog without spending any money on paid ads.

Marketing For Photographers is my new series of videos designed to help you navigate social media, build a great photography website, establish a solid pricing structure and increase your photography business. This video is about the social part of social media for photographers. By being social and participating in conversations and sharing knowledge I am able to increase my social currency. Social Currency is important because without it - you are just shouting and nobody is listening. How do you build social currency for your photography business? Start with GREAT Photographs. That doesn't mean that if you're a beginner you can't post… it simply means only post your best. There is nothing worse than the photographer that posts 20 images of the same shot. Only one of them is the best which means all of the others aren't! So don't post them. Provide CONTENT and CONTEXT. It is not enough to just post an image. Tell a story. Give some background. Sell it! Don't kid yourself into thinking that people actually care about your photography. If they aren't the person in the photo - they don't care about your photography unless you give them a reason to. If you are a portrait or wedding photographer, when you post the image, talk about how much fun you had with the subject, how wonderful the wedding was, or how thrilled you are that you had a chance to spend time with this wonderful person…. Comments like this make prospective customers think you are actually a nice person and would be fun to work with. Be consistent. Post on a regular basis. I would encourage you to post a minimum of twice a week on every social media platform that you are involved with. It doesn't always have to be pictures. It could be a cool quote, a link to an interesting article, it could be a short story about an experience or a thought that you had. If you are using social media to build your business this is extremely important and in the next video, I will give you some info on tools that will help you automatically generate content for your posts. Social Engagement. Make sure you reply to all comments and messages. Start conversations. Ask for opinions and feedback. I try to respond to every single comment someone leaves me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. At a minimum, I am sure to like the comment.
