Why Bitcoin Cash Won't Replace Bitcoin & How It'll End

14:58
Bitcoin Cash is spiking and there is some discussion whether or not Bitcoin Cash can displace Bitcoin. In other words, could it take the name "Bitcoin"? The short answer is no. The longer answer is that it is exceptionally unlikely because it would require exchanges to all agree on what "Bitcoin" is and make the change simultaneously, else risk losing a ton of customers and transaction volume. In other words, the first exchange to call "Bitcoin Cash" as just "Bitcoin" would essentially be martyr'ing themselves. Bitcoin Cash is seeing a majority of volume come from Korea, although now we are seeing other exchanges increase in volume as a result of FOMO investing. Roger Ver is on a Twitter storm and also talking about Bitcoin Cash such as in the meetup in LA recently. Given his wealth and influence, he can have a substantial impact. Other factors are playing in as well: Right now the Bitcoin mempool size is spiking, which is causing transaction fees to spike. As such, Bitcoin Cash is becoming a more and more attractive alternative to Bitcoin. However, the spike in the mempool is due to spam transactions which aren't "real." As Bitcoin Cash increases in value, more miners switch over as it is more rewarding to mine (and uses same hashing algorithm, SHA256). Lastly, the Emergency Difficulty Adjustment algorithm will be updated on November 13th as the entire Bitcoin Cash network is upgraded. Bitcoin's primary driver of value, as we have established on this channel previously, is now a "store of value" rather than as a "medium of exchange." Given this, there is no way that Bitcoin Cash will attract the level of capital required for a "flippening" as all Wall Street and casual investors care about is Bitcoin. And for Bitcoin Cash to become "Bitcoin," it would have to eclipse it in market cap for the exchanges to all make that change. In the end, the exchanges have the power. What are your thoughts? ================ If you like my content, you can support me through using ANY of the affiliate links below (I receive small compensation). The beauty of affiliate links is that I can pick and choose what I like rather than have companies approach me - everything I linked below (with the exception of Trezor since I like Ledger), I use myself frequently. ================ My Recommended Hardware Wallets: If you want to store your cryptocurrencies safely, the best way is through a hardware wallet. Seriously - look it up and you'll find plenty of information supporting this claim. There are alternatives such as paper wallets, but these are convenient and my choice for cold storage (offline): Ledger Nano S: http://amzn.to/2hZPj0q Trezor: http://amzn.to/2AxD9TN Ledger Blue (expensive): http://amzn.to/2hk7xst I personally prefer the Ledger Nano S, but the Trezor is such a close second that it really doesn't matter which one you go with. Ledger Blue is premium and convenient, but not necessary. ================ My Favorite Book for Investing in Crypto: Cryptoassets: http://amzn.to/2zKDdCF This book is, bar none, my favorite book for investing in cryptocurrencies. It doesn't bog you down with technical jargon, but instead focuses on all the elements you should understand before you invest. It's a comprehensive book for both beginners and experts. Beginners will find information about major cryptocurrencies (not just Bitcoin) as well as details on historical market events (that you can draw on for future) and events to watch for moving into the future. Experts will find the chapters on valuation particularly useful. For those of you involved in traditional investing, this book is even more of a godsend as finance info is explored (correlations with other asset classes, ETFs, etc). ================ My Recommended Exchanges: Coinbase / GDAX / Bittrex https://www.coinbase.com/join/5a08b12e305a1401d79d10e0 If you sign up to Coinbase using link above, you and I will both receive $10 each after you buy your first $100 of Bitcoin using Coinbase. Coinbase is much less intimidating for beginners. Once ready, move up to GDAX for cheaper or zero fees. For altcoins, I recommend Bittrex. ================ Legal Stuff: I am a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for me to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. Here’s a link to get free $10: https://www.coinbase.com/join/558828d LINKS FOR ADDITIONAL READING FOR THIS VIDEO & ALL INFO IN TEXT DOWN BELOW For BTC and ETH Block Explorer: https://blockchain.com/explorer In depth BTC Mempool analytics: http://bitcointicker.co/networkstats/ BTC block explorer: https://btc.com Today I want to help better explain why your Bitcoin transactions might sometimes be very slow or expensive, and provide you with a cool hint that can help you avoid this situation altogether. I also want to go over the scary concept that is unconfirmed transactions. If you’ve ever sent bitcoin to another wallet, you’ve probably had the delightful experience of anxiously waiting and constantly refreshing your screen until you see that your transaction has indeed been confirmed by the network. If you’ve ever wondered if there’s anything you can do besides pay a hefty transaction fee to ensure it goes through quickly, I have good news for you. The answer is to check the status of the Mempool. There are many websites that are happy to fill you in on this information. Mempool stands for Memory pool and it refers to the holding area for pending transactions. When you first send out your transaction it is sent into the mempool where it waits to be selected by a miner to include it in the next block. The size of the mempool lets you know generally how many blocks will need to be mined before your transaction is confirmed. If the mempool size is 3MB, you’ll need to wait for three blocks to be mined before your transaction is confirmed. It’s possible that the mempool could become too large with pending transactions; this could cause the nodes to crash. To prevent this from happening the nodes will introduce a minimum fee. If your transaction is waiting in this mempool and the fee paid does not meet this minimum then your transaction will be dropped from the mempool and the balance will be sent back to your wallet. So when the blockchain gets flooded with transactions this can explain at least in part why the fees increase and why transactions take a long time to go through. So if you have time to spare, you can keep an eye on the size of the mempool to see when the number of waiting transactions is down, that’s when your transaction will go through quickly and with much cheaper fees. One thing to keep in mind here about the transaction fees. If you try to send your bitcoin without paying any transaction fee or you pay a very very small transaction fee compared to the average being paid, most likely your transaction will be left unconfirmed for many days, weeks or it may never be confirmed. An unconfirmed transaction means the amount of Bitcoin you’ve tried to send is withdrawn from your balance will not be sent to the destination and your Bitcoin is stuck and will not be returned to your wallet. Your best chance at this point is that there exists a miner who will process your transaction knowing that you did not provide them with a fee payment. Most wallets will calculate a proper transaction fee to ensure that this will not happen. Some will even give you some fee options to choose from depending on how quickly you’d like your transaction to be confirmed. The busier the network, the more transactions that are flooding the network, the higher your transaction fee will need to be to ensure that your transaction doesn’t get tossed aside and stuck in limbo. If you’ve ever been curious about how the Bitcoin network is doing, what kind of profit miners can make, which mining pools are dominating the network, you can check out the many Bitcoin block explorer websites. These are good for finding out all sorts of information about the state of the Bitcoin network. Things like the most recent blocks mined, the number of transactions being included in those blocks, transaction fees, and unconfirmed transactions. This tool isn’t exclusive to Bitcoin either. If you’re interested in learning more about Ethereum, Stellar, EOS or other coins with their respective blockchains you can most likely find links to these options with a simple DuckDuckGo search.

Bitcoin Cash Miners Process Big Blocks Past 24h

05:59
About 24-hours ago bitcoin cash (BCH) miners were processing a ton of large blocks between 2-8MB in size.Fees have remained considerably low, and the bitcoin cash daily transaction volume is nearing the same amount of transactions as the litecoin network. Also read: Japan’s DMM Bitcoin Exchange Opens for Business With 7 Cryptocurrencies Bitcoin cash miners have been processing more larger blocks than usual over the past 24-hours, and many of them have been 8MB in size. There have been roughly 34,352 BCH blocks mined since August 1 and BCH is 8,714 blocks ahead of the bitcoin core chain.According to statistical data websites like Johoe’s mempool page, 2-8MB blocks have been clearing the BCH mempool (transaction queue) consistently.Over the past six months, the median BCH transaction (tx) size of 226-bytes costs $0.01-0.02 per tx.Average BCH fees have never exceeded more than 11 cents for median 226 sized transactions. The bitcoin cash community has been excited about mining pools processing larger sized blocks over the past day.Mining pools processing 2-8MB blocks include Antpool, Viabtc, BTC.top, and four other BCH mining operations.Bitcoin cash block intervals have been taking place roughly every 10-20 minutes according to Coin Dance Cash statistics. With fees so low, and the BCH mempool clearing so quickly many skeptics say the BCH network isn’t used much. However, the bitcoin cash 24-hour transaction rate has been climbing exponentially, and after six months of use, the network is close to being on par with the litecoin network’s daily transaction rate.In fact, the BCH daily transaction rate eclipses nearly 90 percent of the 1,300 other digital assets listed on Coinmarketcap. At the time of writing the BCH transaction queue has only 10,000 unconfirmed transactions in the mempool.Meanwhile, the bitcoin core blockchain’s mempool is full and has been for weeks on end. This weekend’s bitcoin core unconfirmed transaction count is considered low but still has over 157,000 unconfirmed transactions waiting to be processed.Just 2-3 weeks prior, when the price of BTC was closer to $19K, those numbers were upwards of 250,000 to a 300,000 all-time high.At the time users were paying over 1,000 satoshis per byte, whereas at the moment most BTC users are spending an average of 500 satoshis/byte.This means using the bitcoin core network the median transaction size of 226 bytes results in a fee of 113,000 satoshis or $16 per transaction.Over the past few weeks, the bitcoin core mempool has not dropped lower than 100,000 backed up transactions which has kept the fee market above $15 and upwards of $50 in some cases.Further, the $16 applies to only 226-byte transactions which typically have very little inputs.Bitcoin core transactions with multiple inputs (a feed of data) will charge a lot more for the fee, and some businesses are paying thousands of dollars to send funds.BCH transactions with multiple inputs and more than 226-bytes cost only a few pennies more to pro

Data Over Drama: Bitcoin Cash Versus Bitcoin Core Transactions

05:52
Over the past few weeks, people have been complaining about high transaction fees and slow confirmation times on the bitcoin core network. Since then other coins like bitcoin cash, dash, and litecoin have seen price spikes and more people utilizing these blockchains for lesser fees and more reliable settlement times.. Just by quickly visiting a few forums and surfing social media channels, anyone can tell there’s a ferocious debate still lingering about blockchain scaling. Currently, much of the discussion has been revolving around the Bitcoin core network (BTC) and the forked adversary the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) protocol. Without getting into the debate, we’ve decided to utilize some data aggregated from multiple cryptocurrency analysis websites to visualize just how different these two networks are.. Using BTC or BCH the Current Statistics Without All the Drama. Bitcoin Core (BTC/XBT) 12/21/17 Currently, the Bitcoin core network is the most used as far as transaction percentages are concerned. According to Blockchain.info’s data, Bitcoin’s throughput has been averaging roughly 300,000-450,000 confirmed transactions a day.. The transaction queue otherwise known as the mempool is full, and has over 270,000 unconfirmed transactions at press time, according to Blockchain.info data. Johoe’s mempool statistics also shows the bitcoin core mempool is full, and the website states “low fee transactions are evicted” from being processed on the network.. Fees for the bitcoin core network according to Earn’s fee statistics show the median transaction size of 226 bytes results in a fee of 223,740 satoshis ($34USD). Bitinfocharts records an average median fee of $41 per transaction. The aggregated average recorded by Bitcoinfees.info details the average bitcoin fee globally is $37 per transaction.. The amount of transactions (tx) per day, per block, and the fee rate per tx has led to an average processing time of 34 to 1,188 minutes according to Blockchain.info. Johoe’s mempool data reveals transactions with lower fees either are getting evicted or transactions are taking several days for confirmation.. Bitcoin Cash (BCC/BCH) 12/21/2017 At the moment, the Bitcoin Cash network has fewer transactions per day than the Bitcoin core blockchain. However according to Bitinfocharts, the BCH chain has seen a spike in 24-hour transaction count, as there are 57,000 to 127,000 transactions recorded daily. At the current trajectory, the BCH network is about to surpass the daily transaction rate of the Litecoin protocol.. The Bitcoin Cash chain doesn’t have as many data logs recording its mempool, but Johoe’s ‘Cash’ mempool data reveals the transaction queue is cleared quite frequently. Johoe’s data indicates both the mempool size in MB is much lower for the BCH network and for pending transactions fees. Moreover, a great majority of the time unconfirmed BCH transactions are also cleared after a block is processed. The average confirmation time is between 8-18 minutes for BC
BTC News - Komodo Developers Demonstrate Bitcoin Cash Atomic Swap

Komodo Developers Demonstrate Bitcoin Cash Atomic SwapThis week the developers of the komodo (KMD) blockchain platform performed a successful atomic swap between KMD and bitcoin cash (BCH) using the team’s Barterdex exchange. Also read: Komodo Developers Perform Bitcoin Cash Atomic Swap On the Barterdex Platform On December 14, the developers of the open source komodo cryptocurrency performed anbetween KMD and BCH.is a digital asset that aims for privacy-centric ideals and hopes to provide more fungible blockchain transactions. The cryptocurrency uses a consensus mechanism called Delayed Proof-of-Work (dPoW) which is similar to bitcoin’s PoW, but also uses a block notarization method. In addition to the komodo token, the team has also built a decentralized exchange called  a trading platform that provides cross-chain atomic swaps between other cryptocurrencies. Atomic swaps allow two parties to transact between two blockchains in a trustless manner without counterparty risk. The developer who performed the first ‘BCH <-> KMD' atomic swap revealed his findings on the Reddit forum. “I was the one who did the actual swap,” the developer reveals. “This is an Atomic Swap between Komodo and Bitcoin Cash, where the KMD buyer bought BCH — The atomic swap protocol, as used in Barterdex, follows the Tier Nolan protocol (Alice is buyer, Bob is seller).”Atomic Swaps Will Tear Down Cryptocurrency Trading Roadblocks The Komodo teamthe Barterdex BCH swap code is “quite complicated,” but also uses a 2-of-2 multi-signature mechanism which can be used if the trade needs to be canceled. The Barterdex platform also trades over 60 other digital assets that trade blockchain-to-blockchain. In addition to the atomic swaps with a GUI, Barterdex also provides decentralized order-matching. An order matching system matches buy and sell orders so each party can execute a desired trade. The Komodo team explains that there have been notable efforts to try and push the idea of decentralized exchanges like the Bisq network. However, theand others still rely on an escrow system whereas Barterdex uses the atomic swap protocol.According to the Komodo developers, bitcoin core (BTC) atomic swaps have been a nuisance during times when the . When the BTC blockchain is backed up with unconfirmed transactions, the Barterdex exchange has to put bitcoin core atomic swaps on hold until the mempool clears. "BTC won't be disabled in Barterdex, except during periods of high mempool congestion when BTC atomic swaps are very likely to fail,"the komodo's Twitter handle. For this reason, the developers explained to news.Bitcoin.com that they had decided to integrate bitcoin cash into the trading engine. The Komodo team explained to news.Bitcoin.com that they're pleased with the BCH integration and believe atomic swaps will transform the future of cryptocurrency trading “Atomic swaps tear down many major roadblocks, foremost among them being a current lack of security in Komodo Developers Demonstrate Bitcoin Cash Atomic Swap BTC News is the world's premier 24/7 news feed covering everything bitcoin-related. ‎About Bitcoin News, How to Calculate Bitcoin ... · ‎Bitcoin for Beginners ‎Op-Ed

[ Update Everyday ] Why Bitcoin Cash Won't Replace Bitcoin & How It'll End

14:48
[ Update Everyday ] Why Bitcoin Cash Won't Replace Bitcoin & How It'll End Bitcoin Cash is spiking and there is some discussion whether or not Bitcoin Cash can displace Bitcoin. There are alternatives such as paper wallets, but these are convenient and my choice for cold storage (offline): Ledger Nano S: Trezor: Ledger Blue (expensive): I personally prefer the Ledger Nano S, but the Trezor is such a close second that it really doesn't matter which one you go with. Ledger Blue is premium and convenient, but not necessary. ================ My Favorite Book for Investing in Crypto: Cryptoassets: This book is, bar none, my favorite book for investing in cryptocurrencies. ================ My Recommended Exchanges: Coinbase / GDAX / Bittrex If you sign up to Coinbase using link above, you and I will both receive $10 each after you buy your first $100 of Bitcoin using Coinbase. Bitcoin Stuff #1 - What I think about Bitcoin Forks

08:04
Not investment advice. Update: when you buy one for over the other, you do not directly influence which one wins, despite what I say in the video. You have to create value in order to influence which one wins. I did not state this correctly. Also, when I say "choose which one you like better" remember that all investment is about correct future predictions, so the only reason you would like one better is if you understand why it is going to win for real. Monero Gets Multisig! / BitPay To Support Bitcoin Cash / Cobinhood & CME Futures Have Both Launched

12:46
Story - Multi Signature Wallets Coming To Monero https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/2134 Yesterday, on the Monero GitHub, pull request 2134 entitled Multisig was merged by the one and only fluffypony. Now this has been merged into the Monero codebase it can be integrated into the next core wallet release and Monero wallet developers can begin building truly private multisig wallets. Someone on Reddit was campaigning to get Monero integrated into OpenBazaar as a result of this. That is because multisig now allows you to do private payments but with with an escrow, in case you need a mediator to come in and resolve a disputed transaction. I think the success of Monero is one of the most interesting phenomena because their marketing is pretty much to develop the protocol and then when something cool gets built, people like me talk about it. So I suppose you could say they end up getting free advertising on merit. I said recently I have been eagerly awaiting Monero support for the Ledger Nano S, well did you know that the Monero community have already crowdfunded a Monero hardware wallet https://forum.getmonero.org/9/work-in-progress/88149/dedicated-monero-hardware-wallet This fundraiser is on their forum and was originally posted 3 months ago. In the meantime though, I have accepted the risk of using the MyMonero.com web wallet. https://mymonero.com/ So far it’s working OK but I can’t recommend it to anyone in case there is a security issue with it and you lose your money. That’s why I said I am accepting the risks of doing this. Story - BitPay To Launch Bitcoin Cash Support https://blog.bitpay.com/multiple-blockchains/ I actually Tweeted this out as soon as I heard about it. In that Tweet I basically referred back to my recent comments that businesses will not wait for Bitcoin to scale. This is because they want to bring the benefits of cryptocurrencies to their users now and whichever technology offers that will get used. This is why I keep banging on about the user experience. This is how it works in the free market. Users have all the power, they are the ones that demand the solutions to their problems. The entrepreneurs job is to find solutions to those problems, and then transfer them to the users. Because the entrepreneurs are all competing with each other to provide the most effective solutions possible and gain the most market share, they’ll be constantly on the lookout for better solutions to their customers problems in order to get an edge on the competition. And this announcement from bitpay is an example of a trend I think we are going to see continue for the reasons I’ve outlined. So BitPay in this blog say… [red] So this doesn’t mean Bitcoin is going to go away. It just means Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash offer different features which will suit different use cases. [orange] So this is people actually buying stuff. We know that because BitPay is a checkout system for merchants that allows people to pay with Bitcoin. [show screen shot under yellow heading] In terms of when this is happening… [green] Story - CME Bitcoin Futures Launch With Little Fanfare http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/equity-index/us-index/bitcoin.html If you tuned into my live stream last night you will have been there for the launch but for everyone else the CME Bitcoin Futures product has now begun to trade. Nothing much happened at the opening, and many people in the live stream chat suggested that the optimism about the launch was already priced into Bitcoin from last week's run up. I think that’s a fair statement. In terms of the price of the futures contracts in the last 12 hours since they launched... http://www.cmegroup.com/apps/cmegroup/widgets/productLibs/esignal-c harts.html?code=BTC&title=JAN_2018_Bitcoin_&type=p&venue=0&monthYear=F8&year=2018&exchangeCode=XCME&chartMode=dynamic They opened way up at 20,650 and are now at… Story - Cobinhood Launched At Last https://cobinhood.com The eagerly awaiting launch of Cobinhood has arrived. I say eagerly awaited, eagerly awaiting by me. The beta version has been available for a while but didn’t do any real trades. At midnight however all test accounts were reset and you can now sign up for an official account. I attempted to sign up right away last night during the stream but it wouldn’t let me, probably because there was too much traffic. I have now managed to register an account although there doesn’t seem to be a lot happening in terms of trading so I’ll see what happens throughout the day.

What is Mempool or Why higher transitions fee in Bitcoin | Hindi

06:11
What is the Bitcoin Mempool? The mempool is the network’s holding area for transactions that have been made but not put into a block yet. Every Bitcoin node on the network holds unconfirmed transactions in RAM and removes them once they are confirmed. From then on they’re held only on disk. The mempool consists of all transactions waiting to be confirmed by the Bitcoin network. In order to maximize profits, miners typically give priority to transactions paying at a higher Fee Level. https://blockchain.info/charts/mempool-state-by-fee-level www.nodearts.com
