Getting the Mach3 / C11 control the Chinese 2.2kw Spindle through VFD
To get the spindle turning by C11/Mach3 combination, I followed the steps below: 1. Wiring from VFD to C11 (please check the Chai's YP-C 3 pages .doc): VFD = C11 S1 = PIN 1 (NO) S2 = PIN 2 (NO) COM = VIN2 (PIN1) & VIN1 (PIN16) FU = 10V (PIN 14) COM = GND (PIN 14) 2. Set the YP-C VFD parameteres for controlling it from outside: P0000 = 1 P0001 = 1 3. In Mach3 Port & Pins, I put the following settings: a. Motor Outputs / Spindle (step pin:14, dir pin:8, step port:1, dir port:1) (didn't understand the 8 in dir pin but it worked) b. Output Signals / Enable Output 1 (port:1, pin:1), Output 2 (port:1, pin:16) and Charge Pump (port:1, pin:17) c. Spindle Setup / Relay Control / Uncheck 'Disable Spindle Relays', M3 Output 1: 1, M4 Output 2: 2 d. Spindle Setup / Motor Control / Check 'Use spindle motor output' and 'Step/Dir Motor' e. Motor tuning and Setup / Spindle / Steps Per:1000, Step Pulse:5, Dir Pulse:1 4. I fine tuned the C11 pot by setting the Step Pulse to 5 and managed to get 10.02V in multimeter, so I started the testing from Mach3 MDI screen. My testing started by typing in MDI command prompt the following: m3 s12000. I noticed that Mach3 warned me about 'Too fast for puley - Using Max' and then I noticed that the max spindle speed was set to 8000 in Mach3 main screen. So, I assumed that I had to increase this to 24000 as this is my spindle max RPM. I found a setting under Config / Spindle Pulleys and I selected the Pulley Number 5 and set it to 24000 instead of its default value (25000)

Hello, here you see my CNC Router engraving an image. G-Code is generated with my custom "Image2Gcode" software. The image is 72.9 mm / 48.6 mm. The engraving pattern is 0.01mm. Laser Max output set to 1/2 Power, so I get A Axis movement from 0.000 to 0.0127mm. I used a Bangood 2.5W Laser. The included driver is only for static output at full power, so changed it. The Laser is driven by a DTR Laser's "Super X-Drive (SXD)" Buck Driver at 1.8Watts. That give my out round about 2.5Watts. The inbuild Diode seems to be a 2W M140 445nm Laser Diode. To get Mach3 run the Laser Power well, I wrote an Arduino Sketch that used Step/Dir to convert it to a 8-Bit PWM. Therefore I test Mach3 Spindle PWM output, but it always give me a little delay when changing the PWM by S Codes. At 0:29 you see I used the A axis to generate Step/Dir to my DAC. At 0:37 you see the Feedrate is round about 800mm/min. At 0:52 you see DTR Laser's "Super X-Drive (SXD)" Buck Driver. At 1:11 you see the Arduino Uno Regards Toby

The Charge Pump is an essential part of every CNC system - especially a CNC router system where there is the possibility for home build or DIY CNC applications. The Charge Pump is a 12.5kHz signal that is triggered down an output pin of your CNC system. When you hit RESET on Mach3 to enable the system you trigger the charge pump. Only when Mach3 is open and the reset is triggered will the charge pump signal occur. It is not possible for the Charge Pump to be present when the PC is powering up or down as the signal must be a contstant 12.5kHz signal to be valid. The HDBB2 allows the Charge pump to be connected directly to one of its open drain output mosfets. In this way the charge pump can be used to trigger a safety relay directly as shown in the video. As the open drain output is used to provide a path to ground for the safety relay the system can also be used to prevent the entire machine from powering up without a Charge Pump signal present. If you have a 5V, 12V or 24V DC latched on/off system (Which you should have) for your CNC router which controls the main power to the machine - then connecting the return path of the circuit to the open drain output (provided its not more than 50V DC and draws less than 1A) will only allow the machine to be powered up when the charge pump signal is activated. Every CNC machine or router system must be installed with a Charge Pump!!! The charge pump prevents unexpected machine states from arising - for example - a spindle powering up when a control PC is booted up or down.
