This video shows me teaching a second grade class. It is the first of a 6-lesson basketball unit. The lesson introduces students to both stationary dribbling, as well as dribbling on the move. During the lesson, the appropriate progressions at this age level are used to provide the necessary skill set and foundation for this particular unit. It also incorporates math by asking students to count and to recognize and match various shapes throughout the lesson.

Teaching Physical Education in Limited Space Course by Charles Silberman

02:36
Visit the page here: https://ssww.teachable.com/p/pe-limited-space Teaching Physical Education in Limited Space Course by Charles Silberman Welcome to another Online Course from PE Central’s Professional Development - Teaching in Limited Space The purpose of this course is to explore physical education in a limited space environment, how it affects students and the best strategies for solving these issues. Ultimately the goal is to Make High Quality Physical Education Possible in Tight Spaces. The problem schools are facing dates to the middle of last century. Built originally for baby boomers – but now grossly overcrowded. Dwindling educational resources have basically forced PE out of our schools. Today we see Physical Education teachers teaching classes on parking lots, in multifunctional classrooms and on local fields unfit for purpose. There’s little doubt that a student’s negative experience of these restrictions will severely impact on their physical, emotional and academic well-being. That’s why it’s essential for all physical educators to be fully aware of and competent with teaching in limited spaces. This course will teach you to: ● define limited space and identify its constraints. ● demonstrate an understanding of how lack of physical activity affects students’ health and academics. ● identify safety protocols and effective limited space teaching guidelines and best practices ● review exemplar limited space lessons and activities to evaluate what makes them highly effective. Physical education is an essential part of our curriculum and plays an important role in curbing childhood obesity. The course comes with a comprehensive list of teaching resources, including lesson plans, websites, and YouTube channels - all in one place. Your course instructor Charles Silberman is an experienced physical educator and available to help you throughout the course. As well as creating this course Charles has written extensively on teaching physical education. The course is online and self-paced so you can take it anywhere and at any time on your own schedule Perfect for teachers in remote areas or who cannot get to a university - all you need to complete the course is an email address and a computer with an updated browser and Adobe Flash Player. As well as being an essential teaching resource this course is worth five professional development hours. All of this for just $49. Compare that to the $1000’s it would cost to attend college, not to mention all the time and expense of travelling.

Coach Unlimited director Teresa Hames said the pack is aimed at primary school teachers or adults who work in primary schools and are delivering PE. "It has 17 different sports in it and has been developed with the help of practising primary school teachers. "Within the easy-to-use Lesson Resource Pack are differentiated activities for high and lower ability children. "There’s a quick glance of the resources that are needed for the lessons as well as teaching points so you know exactly what you are looking for at various points within the lesson to help the children. "They are progressive, they work across all of the sports and they make sure that you show challenge and learning for every child." Rebecca Hobbs from Moira Primary School in Leicestershire described the pack by saying: "The PE Lesson Resource Pack has been a great help to many of our staff who were less confident teaching certain areas of the curriculum.
