Anti-Bullying Learning and Teaching Resource (ALTER) Catholic Education Office, Wollongong
If you would like to order the full resource package please contact Josephine Cable at [email protected] Please Note: This resource is available to Australian schools only under the APRA/AMCOS Educational Licence. The Diocese of Wollongong Catholic Education Office's Student Anti-Bullying Policy was launched this year, in response to the growing concern in schools relating to bullying involving the use of communication and information technology. Complementing the Student Anti-bullying Policy is the Anti-Bullying Learning and Teaching Education Resource (ALTER), a joint CEO and Office of the Bishop DVD production for use in primary and secondary schools. Inspired and performed by students at three Catholic primary and secondary schools in the Diocese of Wollongong, this innovative video production uses their voice and experience to focus on the impact of bullying and provides practical strategies for youth to deal with this important issue. It is an engaging visual stimulus which challenges students to think positively, respond compassionately and act with courage when they are confronted with future incidents of bullying.

Guard Against Bullying - What is Bullying?
Guard Against Bullying is a resource kit of easy to access information about bullying and bullying awareness for youth with low-English literacy. The multimedia resources are in plain language accessible to learners with a reading level of grade 3-4. They provide youth with developmental disabilities key information, tools and the skills necessary to recognize, understand and make informed decisions for themselves on how to prevent, intervene and take a stand against bullying in their community. When someone gets singled out to be purposefully excluded, or they get picked on, whether verbally, physically or electronically, it damages their self-esteem, promotes depression and often results in the individuals feeling ashamed of what has happened to them. Most of all, people who get bullied -- called targets -- often feel helpless. Research has shown that persons with developmental disabilities and low English literacy are more vulnerable to bullying and victimization than their non-disabled and fully literate peers. In addition, Dr. Wendy Craig, at bfree.ca, states that students with disabilities are one of the most vulnerable populations of all, and particularly so during their transitions from elementary to junior high and from junior high to high school. Guard Against Bullying was developed by our Research Team in collaboration with VoicePrint, Developmental Disabilities Resource Centre of Calgary, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Calgary and Area, the Boys and Girls Club of Lethbridge and the Lethbridge Community Network with funding from Alberta Children and Youth Services -- Community Incentive Fund, TELUS and the Lethbridge Detachment Victim Assistance Society. Workplace Bullying
In a major national survey, 35 percent of American adults reported that they have experienced bullying behaviors at work and another 15 percent said they have witnessed others being bullied (Workplace Bullying Institute, 2010). Workplace bullying can have serious repercussions for employees and the organization alike. To promote psychologically healthy workplaces and help employers identify, prevent and address these negative workplace behaviors, the American Psychological Association's Center for Organizational Excellence launched a new resource page on workplace bullying. Check out this short video about workplace bullying and share it with the HR staff and managers in your organization to help get the conversation started. Then, visit http://www.apaexcellence.org/bullying for more information and resources.

Bullying - Awareness & Discussion
Sometimes I'm not the best at articulating my thoughts, so I hope this video makes sense - but this is a bit of a personal video for me as I myself was a victim of bullying through grade school, and even again later in life. With this video I'm just trying to bring awareness to how our actions and words affect others.....even years and years later and how we can all do our part to help stop bullying. Also this video wasn't prompted by anything in particular....just general observations and experiences in life. And when I mentioned people being bullied for having a different opinion I am NOT referring to people being called out for inappropriate behavior and actions (i.e. racism, sexism, etc). For those of you who are being bullied know that you are not alone, and please, please do not be afraid to speak out. If you are underaged seek out the help of a trusted adult or consult one of these resources: - https://www.stopbullying.gov/resources/all - http://www.pacer.org/bullying/resources/ - http://cyberbullyhelp.com - http://www.safekids.com/bullying-cyberbullying-resources/ - https://www.stopbullying.gov/cyberbullying/how-to-report/index.html Internet Safety: http://www.nationalcac.org/prevention/internet-safety-kids.html I am now a BooklyBox partner! Human Resources: Handling Workplace Bullying
It used to be that when we'd think of bullying, we'd think of the schoolyard. We might think of a pop culture teen flick, where the bully through the nerd up against a locker and forced him to hand over his lunch money. Well, that's all changed. The media is full of stories of kids and teenagers who are bullied, but adults in the workplace, too. 35% of the workforce feels bullied at some point in their working life, according to several different studies. And the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health found that 25% of workplaces have bullying. My name is Catherine Mattice, and I have been researching, publishing, and consulting on the topic since 2004. I am co-author of the book Back Off, Your Guide to Ending Bullying at Work. And author of the book Seeking Civility. This course will provide you with a variety of tools and ideas to help you put a stop to workplace bullying in your own organization. I will define workplace bullying for you, compare and contrast it to harassment, and provide examples of bullying behavior. I'll show you how to do a prevalence audit to gauge bullying, how to take in grievances, and how to step in and coach bullies. I'll also show you how to implement a healthy workplace policy and how to change your organization's culture, so that bullying can no longer thrive. Finally, I'll give you some tips on training programs you can provide to put a stop to bullying, and how to lead your employees through this change in your organization. Workplace bullying is hurtful and damaging for the people who experience it. I'm so excited for you to take this step to put a stop to it. Not only can you end workplace bullying, you can create an organization that really lets your employees thrive.

New Anti-Bullying Resources Available in Saskatchewan

It’s an honor for Broken Wings to collaborate with national bullying specialist, Jeff Veley. Jeff has been helping students for over decade deal with bullying issues. Through a variety of free materials online, Jeff helps students make friends and manage enemies. His online videos give tips on how to navigate cyberbullying as well. Cyberbullying presents unique challenges with anonymity and an endless cyber reach. Younger and younger children are gaining access to online exposure through their devices, such as cell phones, laptops, and iPads. Bullies and other dangerous predators can potentially influence or communicate with your children or students through these devices. To counteract this possible risk or danger, Jeff has compiled free resources on various topics. He also keeps parents and educators up to date with rapid ever-changing apps and technology. Visit Jeff’s website (see below) to learn more on how to protect your kids. What is one thing you can do to help keep the children safe on their devices? 4 Types of Bullying That Asian Americans Experience
#StopAsianBullying. One more story I didn't tell in the video, because I honestly don't know if I could've held up emotionally telling it: So you know how you put your stuff down at lunch to save a seat? Well, after I did that one time, I got back to to the table and all the seats were full and my clarinet was gone. Everybody at the table knew who took my clarinet, but nobody would tell me where it was. They all just sat there laughing at me. I didn't even care about my seat anymore, I just wanted my stupid clarinet back. After some back and forth and back and forth, I screamed as loud as I could: "GIVE ME BACK MY F***ING CLARINET!" The entire cafeteria gets quiet but nobody gives me my clarinet back. Crying, I walk away and just sit in the bathroom sobbing. Later that day, somebody delivered the clarinet back to me but they wouldn't tell me who took it. To this day, I still don't know who took it. Peter Liciaga | Bullying Resources | Rules Of Engagement | Mount Laurel NJ
http://www.LiciagaSpeaks.com - Mount Laurel's Youth Motivational Speaker, martial arts educator, activist and parent, Peter Liciaga (http://www.PeterLiciaga.com), takes some time to share some valuable information for parents about bullying. Bullying is a problem that affects every school, and this pervasive problem remains unsolved largely because we are expecting the wrong people to solve it. When bullying becomes a serious issue in schools, everyone is quick to point fingers at teachers and school administrators, but the simple truth is that they can only do so much. Bullies are most aggressive when teachers are not present, and studies show that when a victim reports harassment to a teacher, the bullying may even get worse. This video explains the Rules of engagement and some other important information. For more, contact Peter Liciaga at http://www.PeterLiciaga.com or call him directly at 856-235-0414. http://www.PeterLiciaga.com
