What Is Investment ? | How To Invest | Expenditure | Risks of Investments | Money Mantan TV

What Is Investment ? | Where To Invest | Expenditure | Risk of Investments | CA K HANMANDLOO Most investors want to make investments in such a way that they get sky-high returns as fast as possible without the risk of losing the principal amount. And this is the reason why many investors are always on the lookout for top investment plans where they can double their money in few months or years with little or no risk. However, it is a fact that investment Expenditure products that give high returns with low risk do not exist. In reality, risk and returns are inversely related, higher the returns, higher is the risk, and vice versa. Here is a look at the top 10 investment avenues Indians look at while savings for their financial goals. 1. Direct equity : Investing in stocks may not be a volatile asset class and there is no guarantee of returns. Further, not only is it difficult to .. pick the right stock, timing your entry and exit is also not easy. The only silver lining is that over long periods, equity has been able to deliver higher Stocks Exchange. 2. Equity mutual funds : Equity mutual funds predominantly invest in equity stocks. As per current Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) Mutual Fund Regulations, an equity mutual fund scheme must invest at least 65 percent of its assets in equities and equity-related instruments. An equity fund can be actively managed or passively managed. 3. Debt mutual funds : Debt funds are ideal for investors who want steady returns. They are are less volatile and, hence, less risky compared to equity funds. Debt mutual funds primarily invest in fixed-interest generating securities like corporate bonds, government securities, treasury bills, commercial paper and other money market instruments. 4. Public Provident Fund (PPF) : The Public Provident Fund (PPF) is one product a lot of people turn to. Since the PPF has a long tenure of 15 years, the impact of compounding of tax-free interest is huge, especially in the later years. Further, since the interest earned and the principal invested is backed by sovereign guarantee, it makes it a safe investment. 5. National Pension System (NPS) : the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA). The minimum annual (April-March) contribution for an NPS Tier-1 account to remain active has been reduced from Rs 6,000 to Rs 1,000. It is a mix of equity, fixed deposits, corporate bonds, liquid funds and government funds, among others. Based on your risk appetite, you can decide how much of your money can be invested in equities through NPS. 6. Bank fixed deposit (FD) : A bank fixed deposit (FD) is a safe choice for investing in India. Under the deposit insurance and credit guarantee corporation (DICGC) rules, each depositor in a bank is insured up to a maximum of Rs 1 lakh for both principal and interest amount. 7. Senior Citizens' Saving Scheme (SCSS): Probably the first choice of most retirees, the Senior Citizens' Saving Scheme (SCSS) is a must-have in their investment portfolios. As the name suggests, only senior citizens or early retirees can invest in this scheme. 8. Real Estate: The house that you live in is for self-consumption and should never be considered as an investment. If you do not intend to live in it, the second property you buy can be your investment. 9: RBI Taxable Bonds : The government has replaced the erstwhile 8 percent Savings (Taxable) Bonds 2003 with the 7.75 per cent Savings (Taxable) Bonds. These bonds come with a tenure of 7 years. 10. Gold Possessing gold in the form of jewellery has its own concerns like safety and high cost. Then there's the 'making charges', which typically range between 6-14 per cent of the cost of gold (and may go as high as 25 percent in case of special designs). For those who would want to buy gold coins, there's still an option. One can also buy ingeniously minted coins. An alternate way of owning paper gold in a more cost-effective manner is through gold ETFs. The Truth About Silver & Gold Mining Stocks - Mike Maloney

16:49
Mining stocks can be good investments, but you introduce risks that don't exist if you invest in physical gold and silver. I personally did quite well with miners in the early 2000's, but in hindsight a lot of it was simply due to luck. Stay away from the pump & dumpers, and any businesses that associate with them. Watch this week's video to get my current take on gold & silver stocks and the overall economy. If you enjoyed watching this video, be sure to check out the Hidden Secrets of Money website at https://www.hiddensecretsofmoney.com/. It’s a world-leading educational series by Mike Maloney, the bestselling author of the Guide to Investing in Gold & Silver. As Mike explains in the series and his book, we live in an economic system that is made complicated by design. Basically, it’s set up so most people don’t even try to understand it. In Mike’s videos, he breaks down these concepts using easy-to-follow analogies, real pages from history, and animations that tie it all together. And be sure to follow Mike on social media to stay up to date on his latest news and posts: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/OfficialMikeMaloney/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/mike_maloney Mike Maloney is also the founder of GoldSilver.com (http://tinyurl.com/jlypdzc), which was one of the first websites ever to sell bullion online. DISCLAIMER: Futures, stocks and options trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for every investor. The valuation of futures, stocks and options may fluctuate, and, as a result, clients may lose more than their original investment. The impact of seasonal and geopolitical events is already factored into market prices. The highly leveraged nature of futures trading means that small market movements will have a great impact on your trading account and this can work against you, leading to large losses or can work for you, leading to large gains. If the market moves against you, you may sustain a total loss greater than the amount you deposited into your account. You are responsible for all the risks and financial resources you use and for the chosen trading system. Risk Free Stock Investment - Is it Possible | HINDI

14:48
Risk Free Stock Investment is one in which the investment is protected against any loss. The same logic is used by the capital protection funds for risk free investment. The basic principle is to identify a safe investment with assured returns. For example, debt funds/bond/fixed deposit with assured return of 8%. If the time horizon is 1 year and amount invested is Rs 1000. In this case, i will find out how much amount i should invest in safe investment so that after 1 year, it becomes Rs 1000 with returns. It will be approx Rs 930. Therefore, in SIP mode i will invest Rs 930 in a safe investment and Rs 70 in stocks. Thus my investment is protected. On the other hand in case of lump sum investment, the amount can be invested in safe option & you may wait for the returns to be tax free like investment in arbitrage funds for 1 year. After that, through monthly interest payout or systematic withdrawal plan you can invest that amount in the stocks. The investment, in this case, will be risk free stock investment. Please check that you are happy with the risks before you choose an investment. DIVIDEND INVESTING IN 2019: STOCK MARKET QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

25:10
2019 is here and we are almost 20,000 dividend growth investors strong. Today, I wanted to answer three recent subscriber questions about stock market investing, as they are all super relevant to investing in 2019 and beyond. I cannot wait to dive into today's dividend investing questions. First up is the question of dividend ETF investing. Subscribers often ask why I go about investing in 39 individual dividend stocks. Why don't I just invest in a dividend ETF (exchange traded fund) to keep things simple? 1) I cannot stand ongoing fees. I refuse to pay fees to an ETF company. 2) I like to micromanage my investments, and I want total control. What if the ETF company changes over time? What if the ETF morphs into something else? I cannot take those risks of having a "middleman" as part of my investment strategy. 3) Perhaps most importantly, I am a bargain shopper. I love sitting around and waiting for stocks to go on sale. By owning individual stocks, I can always cherry pick the ones on sale. With ETFs, one just buys the entire basket (which typically includes both overvalued and undervalued stocks at any given time). 4) Individual stocks keep my head in the game! ETFs are just not exciting for me. Question two is all about company culture. One subscriber shares how a poor company culture is a complete deal breaker for him. Learn why company culture is not that important to me (from an investment standpoint). Moreover, learn why company culture is one of the huge drivers behind WHY I do this! What to Do When Markets Drop

02:16
If you’re a long-term investor, you’ll almost certainly experience a bear market from time to time. Bear markets occur when the Dow Jones Industrial Average drops 20% or more. But not all market drops are that severe. The market can dip 5% or more at least three times a year on average. You can expect a drop of 10% or more – known as a correction – about once a year. And the bear reappears every three to four years on average.* When stock prices begin falling dramatically, the impulse is to do something. Anything. You may think your only option is to sell in order to limit losses. We disagree If you’re a long-term investor, what you do during a stock market decline might spell the difference between success and failure. We recommend staying calm and ignoring extreme predictions of doom and gloom. Here is your survival checklist: • Stay the course. Stock market declines are normal and frequent – not a reason to sell quality investments. • Look for opportunities. Market drops can present opportunities to buy stocks and equity mutual funds at lower prices.** • Stick with quality. Lower-quality investments may not recover when the bear market ends. • And finally, talk to a trusted financial advisor. Prepare your portfolio today with an appropriate mix of quality investments so that you can stay invested in both bear and bull markets over time. Always remember: Stock markets declines are common, occur without warning, end unexpectedly and may present opportunities for long-term investors to buy stocks and quality mutual funds at lower prices. Risks Of Stock Market Investment

The stock market works with the aid of buyers and marketers (merchants) who bid on shares of shares. These are a small piece of possession of a public corporation. How to invest in ETFs

10:31
11/9/2017 Webcast: ETFs What you need to know How can you purchase Vanguard ETFs® (exchange-traded funds), and is there a particular time of day when it’s best to buy or sell an ETF? Vanguard investing experts, Josh Hirt and Rich Powers, describe how and when to add ETFs to your portfolio. Important Information All investing is subject to risk, including the possible loss of the money you invest. This webcast is for your educational purposes only. We recommend that you consult a tax or financial advisor about your individual situation. Diversification does not ensure a profit or protect against a loss. Investments in stocks or bonds issued by non-U.S. companies are subject to risks including country/regional risk and currency risk. Vanguard ETF Shares are not redeemable with the issuing Fund other than in very large aggregations worth millions of dollars. Instead, investors must buy and sell Vanguard ETF Shares in the secondary market and hold those shares in a brokerage account. In doing so, the investor may incur brokerage commissions and may pay more than net asset value when buying and receive less than net asset value when selling. For more information about Vanguard funds or Vanguard ETFs, visit https://vgi.vg/2zIetY9 to obtain a prospectus or, if available, a summary prospectus. How Do REITs Work?

04:02
REITs, or real estate investment trusts, were created by Congress in 1960 to give all individuals the opportunity to benefit from investing in income-producing real estate. REITs allow anyone to own or finance properties the same way they invest in other industries, through the purchase of stock. In the same way shareholders benefit by owning stocks in other corporations, the stockholders of a REIT earn a share of the income produced through real estate investment, without actually having to go out and buy or finance property. This video provides some insight into what REITs are and how they work. The REIT industry has a diverse profile, which offers many benefits. REITs often are classified in one of two categories: Equity REITs or Mortgage REITs. Equity REITs own a wide range of property types including offices, shopping centers, hotels, apartments and much more. Equity REITs derive most of their revenue from rent on those properties. Mortgage REITs may finance both residential and commercial properties. Mortgage REITs get most of their revenue from interest earned on their investments in mortgages or mortgage backed securities. In addition, REITs may be publicly registered with the SEC and have their shares listed and traded on major stock exchanges, or they may be publicly registered with the SEC but not have their shares listed or traded on major stock exchanges, or they may be private companies (not registered with the SEC and not having their shares listed or traded on a stock exchange. Regardless of the type, REITs operate under a specific set of rules established by Congress. A REIT is an entity that: • is modeled after mutual funds • is treated by the Internal Revenue Code as a corporation • must be widely held by shareholders • must primarily own or finance real estate, and • must own its real estate with a longterm investment horizon. The IRS implements the REIT rules and oversees what qualifies as a REIT. The Internal Revenue Code requires a REIT to adhere to the following essential rules: at least 75 percent of the corporation's income must be earned from real estate as rent, real estate interest or from the sales of real estate assets; at least 75 percent of the corporation's assets must be real estate assets; and, at least 95 percent of income must be passive. REITs are required to distribute at least 90 percent of taxable income annually to shareholders as taxable dividends. In other words, a REIT cannot retain its earnings. Like a mutual fund, a REIT receives a dividends-paid deduction so no tax is paid at the entity level if 100 percent of income is distributed. REIT shareholders pay taxes on dividends at ordinary rates versus the lower qualified rate. Over time, REITs and the rules and regulations that govern them have evolved to meet the changing needs of the real estate industry and the broader economy. But throughout that process, REITs have remained true to the mission laid out by Congress in 1960: to make the benefits of income-producing real estate accessible to anyone and everyone. And that's still how they work today. By Mitch Irzinski

What's a realistic rate of return over the next decade for a balanced portfolio?

04:48
12/10/2018 Webcast: The 2019 economic and market outlook Vanguard Global Chief Economist Joe Davis shares what his team projects as a realistic return over the next decade for a balanced portfolio—meaning one comprising 60% equities and 40% fixed income investments—which at 4 to 4.5% is below historical averages. As he explains, the Vanguard Economic and Market Outlook for 2019 anticipates some variance in performance in U.S. versus non-U.S. markets, as well as fixed income vs. equities—underscoring the importance of periodic rebalancing and maintaining a diversified portfolio. IMPORTANT INFORMATION All investing is subject to risk, including the possible loss of the money you invest. There is no guarantee that any particular asset allocation or mix of funds will meet your investment objectives or provide you with a given level of income. Diversification does not ensure a profit or protect against a loss. Past performance is not a guarantee of future results. Investments in bonds are subject to interest rate, credit, and inflation risk. Investments in stocks or bonds issued by non-U.S. companies are subject to risks including country/regional risk and currency risk. These risks are especially high in emerging markets. IMPORTANT: The projections and other information generated by the Vanguard Capital Markets Model® (VCMM) regarding the likelihood of various investment outcomes are hypothetical in nature, do not reflect actual investment results, and are not guarantees of future results. VCMM results will vary with each use and over time. The VCMM projections are based on a statistical analysis of historical data. Future returns may behave differently from the historical patterns captured in the VCMM. More important, the VCMM may be underestimating extreme negative scenarios unobserved in the historical period on which the model estimation is based. The Vanguard Capital Markets Model is a proprietary financial simulation tool developed and maintained by Vanguard’s primary investment research and advice teams. The model forecasts distributions of future returns for a wide array of broad asset classes. Those asset classes include U.S. and international equity markets, several maturities of the U.S. Treasury and corporate fixed income markets, international fixed income markets, U.S. money markets, commodities, and certain alternative investment strategies. The theoretical and empirical foundation for the Vanguard Capital Markets Model is that the returns of various asset classes reflect the compensation investors require for bearing different types of systematic risk (beta). At the core of the model are estimates of the dynamic statistical relationship between risk factors and asset returns, obtained from statistical analysis based on available monthly financial and economic data from as early as 1960. Using a system of estimated equations, the model then applies a Monte Carlo simulation method to project the estimated interrelationships among risk factors and asset classes as well as uncertainty and randomness over time. The model generates a large set of simulated outcomes for each asset class over several time horizons. Forecasts are obtained by computing measures of central tendency in these simulations. Results produced by the tool will vary with each use and over time. Advice services are provided by Vanguard Advisers, Inc., a registered investment advisor, or by Vanguard National Trust Company, a federally chartered, limited-purpose trust company. © 2018 The Vanguard Group, Inc. 5 Mistakes Investors Make with ETFs | Fidelity

04:43
In this video, learn about the five biggest mistakes that investors make when buying ETFs, or exchange-traded funds. To learn the basics about ETFs, visit https://www.fidelity.com/learning-center/investment-products/etf/overview. To get started investing with ETFs, visit https://www.fidelity.com/etfs/overview To see more videos from Fidelity Investments, subscribe to: https://www.youtube.com/fidelityinvestments Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/fidelityinvestments Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/fidelity Google+: https://plus.google.com/+fidelity LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/fidelity-investments --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let’s talk about the five biggest mistakes investors can make when buying exchange-traded funds. ETFs can be good tools for investors - when used appropriately. But with any investment, there are always things to watch out for. Number 1: Buying the Hot New Thing More than 100 new ETF products launch each year, many of them chasing the latest hot trend. Cloud computing, driverless cars, 3-D printing … you name it, there’s an ETF for that. Buying into the latest hot theme might make you big returns, but take care: These product launches may come after there has been a run up in the market. Buying at the top can be painful on the way down. Number 2: Buying Something You Don’t Understand The only thing worse than chasing the hottest trend is buying something you don’t understand. ETFs have taken institutional strategies and made them push-button-easy for everyday investors to access. Want access to commodity futures? There’s an ETF for that. 300% leverage? 200% short? Interest-rate carry plays? Yes to all. But just because you can buy something easily doesn’t mean you should. All of these funds may be good tools, but only if you know how to use them correctly. Number 3: Thinking All ETFs Are Created Equal Consider China. At the start of 2014, there were more than a dozen broad-based China ETFs. For example, had you chosen PGJ, the PowerShares Golden Dragon China ETF, at the start of the year, you would have lost more than 7% of your money. Had you instead chosen ASHR, the Deutsche Xtrackers Harvest CSI 300 China A-Shares ETF, you would have earned a 51% return. Both are “China ETFs.” Both can provide big, diversified portfolios. But ASHR has significant exposure to Chinese Ashares—largely consumer-focused stocks listed and traded on the domestic Chinese market— which performed spectacularly well in 2014. Don’t assume all ETFs are created equal. Just because two ETFs cover the same market doesn’t mean they provide the same exposure or returns. There’s no guarantee which fund will perform better in the future. But if you wanted to invest last year in the growth of the Chinese consumer and the domestic investor base there, a little bit of research would have gone a long way. Number 4: Trading…Just Because You Can Trading is central to ETFs. It’s right there in the name. But just because you can trade an ETF intraday doesn’t mean you should. Emotions are often an investor’s worst enemy. You zig when you should zag; you sell at the bottom and buy at the top. We all do sometimes. The trouble is ETFs make that even easier than traditional mutual funds. ETFs’ intraday liquidity can be great when you need to get into or out of the market quickly. But those situations are rare. Number 5: Only Using Market Orders When you do invest, consider using a limit order versus a market order. Market orders are instructions to buy or sell securities at the best possible price right now. That can work well for the most liquid ETFs, but as you move beyond the top dozen ETFs, you can find yourself getting trades executed at prices you don’t really want. Using a limit order means you agree to buy an ETF at a certain price or below, and sell it at a certain price or above. A limit order puts the control back in your hands and can help you set the price on your terms. Learn from these common mistakes to help avoid making them yourself.
