How To Get WordPress Posts To Page - Displaying Posts On A Page | WP Learning Lab

04:02
Grab Your Free 17-Point WordPress Pre-Launch PDF Checklist: http://vid.io/xqRL Download our exclusive 10-Point WP Hardening Checklist: http://bit.ly/10point-wordpress-hardening-checklist How To Get WordPress Posts To Page - Displaying Posts On A Page | WP Learning Lab This is one of those things that all beginners want to be able to do and it seems like it should be easy. Luckily, it actually is easy to do if you know how to do it :) There are two ways to make this happen. One is to set the blog page and the other is to add categories to the navigation menus which displays all the posts in the category. Let's do the first one first, setting the blog page to display posts on a specific page. First, you have to make sure that you create a page called Blog by going to Page then Add New. Type Blog into the title field and click on Publish. Now go to Settings then Reading Settings in the WordPress Admin area. At the top you will see a "Front page displays" section where you choose the "static page" option. Then for the Post Page drop down choose the Blog page you just created. You will also have to choose a Front Page to make this work. Then click Save Changes at the bottom of the page. Now your posts will appear on the "Blog" page you created a few earlier. Another easy option is to display posts on a category page. On all of the posts you create you have the option of setting a Category for the post. You can then go to Appearance, then Menus and add that specific category to any navigation menu you have on your site. When someone clicks on the category link in the nav they will be taken to that category page where it displays all the posts in that category. I hope this information helps you! 5 Best Related Posts Plugins for WordPress

Text version of this tutorial: http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/5-best-related-posts-plugins-for-wordpress/ Are users leaving your site after reading the first post? Increasing page views can be difficult and showing related content is an effective way of getting more page views. In this video, we will show you the 5 best related posts plugins. If you liked this video, then please Like and consider subscribing to our channel for more WordPress videos. It has a great built in algorithm for finding related posts for your visitors with a great templating system and the ability to show post thumbnails. On the downside it is a bit resource intensive for large sites. The next one is contextual related posts which is for text only related posts and works right out of the box. However there is no templating system and hosting providers have blocked it as well just because like YARPP it's resource intensive for large sites. The next one is related posts for WordPress plugin which focuses on performance and doesn't slow your site down, but if you've used some of the other plugins, you might be missing some of the extra features they provide. #4 is the yuzo related posts It's very easy to use and setup, the downside is it's not a lightweight plugin even though it is fast. #5 is the inline related posts plugin this plugin will show related content inside the article when users are more engaged instead of at the bottom. The only con is if you want to display things at the bottom you'll have to install another plugin to do that which can be resource intensive. As you noticed, many of the related posts plugins are resource intensive but you can use the manual related posts plugin. If you have time to use it, this lets you manually setup the related posts yourself and is very lightweight. How to Create a Table of Content in WordPress Posts and Pages

02:18
Do you want to add a Wikipedia style table of contents to some of your longer articles? Tables of contents make it easy to jump to a specific section that they want to read. In this video, we will show you how to create a table of contents in WordPress posts and pages without HTML or CSS. For this tutorial we will be using the Easy Table of Contents plugin found here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-table-of-contents/ With the plugin activated you will want to go under Settings, Table of Contents to view the plugin's settings. You have options for the position, label, and what type of content the table will appear on and have in it. With the plugin active and set up, there will now be a table of contents section where you can manage the table of contents for that specific post. Once you write an article with the required headings for the plugin to see your table of contents on the published page. The table of contents will pull from the headers you allowed and will place them in a box at the top of your content. When a user clicks on one of the links they will be brought to the specific section on the page where they can begin reading. How to Create a Separate Page for Blog Posts in WordPress

04:19
WordPress displays your content in a blog format on the homepage normally but not all sites should be displayed that way. Some sites you want to display a welcome page or other custom content but can still find use for your posts. In this video we will show you how to create a separate page for blog posts in WordPress. You would want to start by creating two new pages on your site one to be the new home page and another to be the page where you list your blog posts. For the home page you will want to add whatever content to it that you want someone visiting your site to see first. For the posts page you will want to leave that blank for your posts to be added to the page. With the pages set up you will now go back to your admin area under Settings, Reading. From this page you can set your separate blog page by changing how your home page is displayed to a static page where you can set your home and posts page to the pages you want. Now that you have set your page for blog posts you will need to ensure there is a method to find your posts. Under Appearance, Menus you can add the pages to your menu and ensure to include them in your menu and the menu display checkbox is checked. With that you now have a separate page for your blog posts in WordPress. How to Add a PDF to WordPress Posts and Pages | WP Learning Lab

02:08
Download our exclusive 10-Point WP Hardening Checklist: http://bit.ly/10point-wordpress-hardening-checklist How to Add a PDF to WordPress Posts and Pages | WP Learning Lab PDF documents are a great way to provide downloadable information to your website visitors and customers. Some benefits of using PDFs are: they're nearly universally compatible, they can be created in ways to ensure small file size and they are easily printed. The process for adding PDFs to posts and pages is the same. For our example we'll add a PDF to WordPress posts. To get started hover over posts and click on "Add New" or find an existing post that you want to add the PDF to. In the post editor, find the spot in the content where you want to add the PDF and click there with your mouse. Wherever you click within the content is where the PDF link will be included. You can always move it around later, but it's much easier to find the right spot on the first try. When you're happy with the location click on the "Add Media" button. It is a small rectangular button that looks like a camera and says "Add Media. It is on the left in between the post title field and the main content area. When you click on the Add Media button, the insert media work area will popup. Click on the Upload Files tab and then either click the Select Files button to browser your computer or drag and drop the PDF anywhere onto that popup. You can upload multiple images at once if you so desire. Uploading a PDF is usually very fast, but the speed will depend on your internet connection speed. After your PDF is uploaded you will see it in the list of media on your site. When the PDF is selected in the list, you will see an area to add a title, a caption and a description on the right hand side. Do so if you like, but it's not required. Once you're satisfied click on Insert Into Post. You will see a link appear right where you clicked in your content area. Click on the "Preview" button on the right to see how it looks before you update or publish. Once the PDF link is live on your website and a visitor clicks on the link they will either be taken to view the PDF in the browser or the browser will ask them if they want to download the PDF. That functionality depends on the type of internet browser your visitor is using and it's out of our control. I hope this information helps you!
