Are you a stock market beginner? The stock market exists so that companies can raise money without incurring any debt (such is the case of a loan). They issue shares of their company to the public in what is known as an Initial Public Offering (IPO). Investors buy and sell these shares (or stocks) to one another on the stock exchange, thus making stock prices move up and down. If there are more people buying a stock than people selling it, the price goes up with the demand. If more people are selling than there are people buying a stock, that’s a sign that the company is unfavorable to own and the stock price drops. A stock exchange is where investors trade their shares of companies to one another. That’s why stock prices are constantly changing. Stock exchanges bring all these investors together, so that trades happen in a central and regulated place. There are hundreds of stock exchanges all over the world. In the U.S., the top stock exchanges are the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the NASDAQ, and the American Stock Exchange (AMEX). Each of these exchanges have different companies trading on them. For example, NASDAQ is known for technological companies. Most of the tech stocks out there trade on the NASDAQ stock exchange. New York has been for the most of in its history the largest, most diverse and economically ambitious city in America. Anchored by Wall Street, New York City has been called both the most economically powerful city and the hub of the global financial center. The city is home to the world's two largest stock exchanges by total market capitalization, the New York Stock Exchange andNASDAQ. But for more than 2 centuries New York was also a hub for America's slave trade. Enslaved and free Africans were largely responsible for the construction of the early city, first by clearing land, then by building a fort, mills, bridges, houses, and even the first city hall. The very name Wall Street is born of slavery, as they built a wall in 1653 to protect Dutch settlers from Indian raids. Join us on this edition of Inside Out for a tour of Lower Manhattan to explore the often overlooked history of enslaved and free Africans in early New York. We'll make stops at historic sites most tour guides and buses will never show you. Thumbnail image from: fineartamerica.com

SEE Link, a joint project of the stock exchanges in Zagreb, Sofia and Skopje, became operational at the end of March. Emerging Europe spoke to André Küüsvek, Director, Local Currency and Capital Markets Development at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, about the initiative. SEE Link is a cross border initiative integrating regional equities markets without merger or corporate integration, using only technology that will enable participating stock exchanges to remain independent yet complement and to allow investors an easier and more efficient approach to those markets through a local broker. The three national bourses will now become more visible on the map of capital markets in Central and Eastern Europe and the initiative seems attractive for others. The network will help integrate domestic stock markets with a combined equity market capitalisation of US$ 30 billion, allowing for order routing of almost 400 stocks listed on the three exchanges.

Financial Markets (2011) (ECON 252) Professor Shiller emphasizes the worldwide importance of corporations by looking at World Bank data for corporate stocks as traded on global stock markets. He, then, turns his attention to the concept of a corporation, elaborating on the role of shareholders, the board of directors, and the Chief Operating Officer. He compares and contrasts for-profit and nonprofit corporations. He discusses equity financing of for-profit corporations, covering market capitalization, dividends, share repurchases, dilution, and the difference between common and preferred shares. He discusses, and rejects claims that share issuance is not really important for capital raising in modern times. Professor Shiller concludes this lecture with a discussion of the balance sheets of two well-known corporations, Xerox and Microsoft. 00:00 - Chapter 1. Introduction 00:55 - Chapter 2. 10. Saudi Arabia Per capita income: $56,000 Saudi Arabia has an oil-based economy with solid government control over major economic activities. Oil represents almost all of Saudi revenue and export earnings. Saudi Arabia is the world’s leading oil exporter and second-largest producer. Out of a population of 28 million, eight million are foreign expatriates. Saudis may lose their place among the top 10 wealthiest countries soon, as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicted in October that the kingdom may run out of the financial assets needed to support spending within five years, if the oil price stays at its current weak levels. 9. Switzerland Per capita income: $56,000 The producer of chocolate bars and luxury watches is one of the world’s richest economies. Its policy of long-term monetary security and political stability has helped it remain the biggest center for global offshore wealth. 8. United States of America Per capita income: $57,000 The United States is the world’s largest economy with gross domestic product (GDP) estimated at $17.914 trillion as of mid-2015. The U.S. is currently the world’s largest producer of oil and natural gas. It is one of the largest trading nations in the world, as well as the world’s second-largest manufacturer. It hosts the New York Stock Exchange, the world’s largest stock exchange by market capitalization. 7. United Arab Emirates Per capita income: $68,000 The United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) economy is the second-largest in the Arab world after Saudi Arabia, with a GDP of $570 billion in 2014. It is extremely reliant on oil, with more than 85% of its economy based on the oil exports. 6. Norway Per capita income: $68,000 Norway has the world’s largest sovereign wealth fund. Much of Norway’s economic growth has been fueled by an abundance of natural resources, including petroleum exploration and production, hydroelectric power, and fisheries. With a population of more than five million, the country has a very high standard of living, compared with other European countries, and a strongly integrated welfare system. 5. Kuwait Per capita income: $72,000 Kuwait has nearly 10% of the world’s oil reserves and it is the fourth-biggest producer in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Oil accounts for nearly half of GDP and 95% of export revenues and government income. The Kuwaiti currency is the highest-valued currency unit in the world. One Kuwaiti dinar buys US$3.28. This Persian Gulf state has a population of 3.3 million, with Kuwaitis accounting for only 30% and the rest being expatriates. 4. Brunei Per capita income: $80,000 Oil revenue accounts for more than half of the GDP of this tiny, wealthy country. Substantial income from overseas investment, as well as income from domestic production, help boost the economy. Brunei is the third-largest oil producer in Southeast Asia. It is also the fourth-largest producer of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the world. Brunei’s population is estimated at 418,000. 3. Singapore Per capita income: $85,000 The world’s only sovereign island city-state is noted for its pragmatic and incorrupt governance, which together with its rapid development policies, is widely cited as the “Singapore model.” The nation’s highly developed trade-oriented market economy has been ranked as the most open in the world and the most pro-business with low tax rates. Singapore is also a major Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) outflow financier in the world. With a population estimated at 5.3 million, Singapore is the second-densest sovereign state in the world, after the microstate Monaco. 2. Luxembourg Per capita income: $94,000 Luxembourg, which is the second-smallest state in the European Union, enjoys a degree of economic prosperity very rare among industrialized democracies. It is seen as a diversified industrialized nation, largely depending on the banking, steel, and industrial sectors. With a population of a little more than 500,000, Luxembourg is ranked the eighth least-populous country in Europe. 1. Qatar Per capita income: $146,000 When it comes to the 2015 richest country, Qatar wins by a landslide. The oil boom was the major monetary source of this southwest Asian state, which is ranked as the world’s largest exporter of LNG. Petroleum and liquefied natural gas are the cornerstones of the nation’s economy and represent more than 70% of its total revenue, more than 60% of GDP. Qatari nationals account for a mere 12% of the total population of 2.2 million. Before the emergence of its petrol-based industry, Qatar was a poor pearl fishing country. Today, Qatar is a significant power in the Arab world. AirSwap dex is using their exchange protocol called Swap. (ERC-20 only) Kyber is a wallet that utilizes a network of liquidity providers to pay and convert tokens. (On-chain, ERC-20 only) Request Network is a wallet/app (they compare themselves to Paypal) using the 0x protocol to provide liquidity (Off-chain, ERC-20 only) OmiseGo a white label wallet protocol that will use Plasma to trade p2p off-chain Tenx is creating COMIT, another off-chain p2p solution that works without a native token. I'm guessing this is like Plasma? and aims to work across all blockchains without creating a new blockchain. OmegaOne dex I don't know what protocol they will be using but orderbook style exchange using their own reserves as well as liquidity from 0x relayers, centralized exchanges, etc.

Driving Downtown - New York City New York USA - Episode 54. Starting Point: Park Avenue https://goo.gl/maps/6LEJanN49HR2 . The City of New York, often called New York City or simply New York, is the most populous city in the United States. With an estimated 2017 population of 8,622,698 distributed over a land area of about 302.6 square miles (784 km2), New York City is also the most densely populated major city in the United States. Located at the southern tip of the state of New York, the city is the center of the New York metropolitan area, one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world, with an estimated 20.3 million people in its 2017 Metropolitan Statistical Area and 23.7 million residents in its Combined Statistical Area. A global power city, New York City has been described as the cultural, financial, and media capital of the world, and exerts a significant impact upon commerce, entertainment, research, technology, education, politics, tourism, and sports. The city's fast pace defines the term New York minute. Home to the headquarters of the United Nations, New York is an important center for international diplomacy. Situated on one of the world's largest natural harbors, New York City consists of five boroughs, each of which is a separate county of the State of New York. The five boroughs – Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, The Bronx, and Staten Island – were consolidated into a single city in 1898. The city and its metropolitan area constitute the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States. As many as 800 languages are spoken in New York, making it the most linguistically diverse city in the world. New York City is home to more than 3.2 million residents born outside the United States, the largest foreign-born population of any city in the world. In 2013, the tri-state New York Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) produced a gross metropolitan product (GMP) of nearly US$1.4 trillion. If greater New York City were a sovereign state, it would have the 12th highest GDP in the world. New York City traces its origins to a trading post founded by colonists from the Dutch Republic in 1624 on Lower Manhattan; the post was named New Amsterdam in 1626. The city and its surroundings came under English control in 1664 and were renamed New York after King Charles II of England granted the lands to his brother, the Duke of York. New York served as the capital of the United States from 1785 until 1790. It has been the country's largest city since 1790. The Statue of Liberty greeted millions of immigrants as they came to the Americas by ship in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and is a world symbol of the United States and its ideals of liberty and peace. In the 21st century, New York has emerged as a global node of creativity and entrepreneurship, social tolerance, and environmental sustainability, and as a symbol of freedom and cultural diversity. Many districts and landmarks in New York City are well known, and the city received a record 61 million tourists in 2016, hosting three of the world's ten most visited tourist attractions in 2013. Several sources have ranked New York the most photographed city in the world. Times Square, iconic as the world's "heart" and its "Crossroads", is the brightly illuminated hub of the Broadway Theater District, one of the world's busiest pedestrian intersections, and a major center of the world's entertainment industry. The names of many of the city's bridges, skyscrapers, and parks are known around the world. Anchored by Wall Street in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, New York City has been called both the most economically powerful city and the leading financial center of the world, and the city is home to the world's two largest stock exchanges by total market capitalization, the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ. Manhattan's real estate market is among the most expensive in the world. Manhattan's Chinatown incorporates the highest concentration of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere, with multiple signature Chinatowns developing across the city. Providing continuous 24/7 service, the New York City Subway is one of the most extensive metro systems worldwide, with 472 stations in operation. Over 120 colleges and universities are located in New York City, including Columbia University, New York University, and Rockefeller University, which have been ranked among the top universities in the world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City

(For better images select HD) Frankfurt is the largest financial centre in continental Europe. It is home to the European Central Bank, Deutsche Bundesbank, Frankfurt Stock Exchange and several large commercial banks. The Frankfurt Stock Exchange is one of the world's largest stock exchanges by market capitalization and accounts for over 90 percent of the turnover in the German market.I Due to its central location within Germany and Europe, Frankfurt is a major air, rail and highway transport hub. Frankfurt has many high-rise buildings in the city centre that form the Frankfurt skyline. It is one of only a few cities in the European Union to have such a skyline. Because of the city's skyline, Germans sometimes refer to Frankfurt as "Mainhattan", a portmanteau of the local Main River and Manhattan. This video was made during my journey to Germany. (2015)

It's Crypto Night tonight! Let's talk about the latest crypto news from all over the world. Coin Market Cap: https://coinmarketcap.com/ SEC appoints new Crypto Chief: https://www.ccn.com/sec-appoints-new-crypto-chief/ - regulation probably not coming soon - people on the board at coinable say it’s years away - it’s moving too fast - Not a whole lot here - just something you should know that’s happening Coinbase coming to Japan: https://twitter.com/coinbase/status/1003674706711474176 - Very interesting - I think Coinbase sees how long regulation is taking in the US and they want to go somewhere that will support them - Although Japan basically booted out Binance, and it’s not considered the best place to go for regulation (although it’s a huge market - arguably biggest in the world), - Japanese’ Yen accounts for about 55% of global bitcoin trades (according to Cryptocompare) so I’m interested to see where this goes - Coinbase obviously ran the numbers and figured this all out. They’ll win some how, and it’ll be big Coinbase becoming US -regulated blockchain securities trading venue: https://twitter.com/coinbase/status/1004484809316446208 Ripple donates $50 million to top universities to boost blockchain adoption: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/06/04/crypto-start-up-ripple-donates-50m-to-top-schools-to-boost-blockchain.html -17 different universities -Payment was in dollars - Whether you like Ripple or not, this is big and great to see - Binance did something similar in Africa - it’s good for the space Japan’s Financial Services Giant SBI Launches Crypto exchange: : https://cointelegraph.com/news/japans-financial-services-giant-sbi-launches-crypto-exchange Massive banking group, SBI, which has about 60 banks in the group, released first crypto exchange - focused on XRP trading (they are partnered with Ripple) - First exchange actually backed by a real bank -Trading platform offered XRP tokens exclusively at launch Microsoft buys Github for $7.5 billion: http://www.datacenterknowledge.com/microsoft/microsoft-buys-github-75-billion-going-back-its-roots - Microsoft has been moving towards open source ever since their new CEO, Nadella, took over (The CEO before Steve Ballmer hated it - called it cancer” - Not huge news for crypto, but it just shows that the world is headed for open source and decentralization - and developers are becoming the leaders and most wanted people in the world - Even Microsoft acknowledges it Let’s play the weekly, “which massive financial firm is going to open a crypto exchange”: This week, it’s Fidelity: https://www.ccn.com/breaking-fidelity-is-quietly-building-a-cryptocurrency-exchange/ - CEO big on crypto - Current clients can link Coinbase accounts to Fidelity portfolio to see holdings with other investments - this new service would allow them to hold the crypto directly in their account Show chart of last year and compare to this year: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/#charts - Last year, the big craze that got everyone involved was ICO’s and Ethereum, so what’s going ot be the big craze this year? *go to Binance article* Binance closer to fiat pairings: https://cointelegraph.com/news/exclusive-world-s-top-crypto-exchange-binance-sets-up-bank-account-in-malta/amp?__twitter_impression=true -This is the answer. If Binance opens up fiat pairings for a bunch of alt coins, it’s going to be huge - As a result of this, I see Bitcoin going down as it’s not longer used as a trading currency and base pair to buy other tokens and coins - Building a “decentralized exchange” is a high priority - Can do fiat pairings - THINK ABOUT THIS - fiat pairings + decentralized exchange means ANYONE ANYWHERE can buy ANY crypto they want

GoPro (NASDAQ: GPRO) shares dived about 16% during mid-day trading on Thursday after the company reported to investors that they are going to miss revenue forecasts for the fourth quarter of 2015. The company’s cameras did not sell as well as predicted during recent holiday sales, and GoPro is hoping to improve its revenue with the release of new products in the virtual reality and drone markets. Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) was down more than 8% Wednesday after Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) downgraded the entire tech sector to underweight. Netflix’s shares were also impacted by the rumor that Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) may be interested in purchasing Time Warner (NYSE: TWC), which will help the tech giant to start its own video streaming business and compete directly against Netflix. SolarCity Corp. (NASDAQ: SCTY) shares dropped more than 13% on Thursday after Nevada regulators upheld their decision to charge fees on solar rooftops. The fees took effect January 1st, and they are threatening the development of solar rooftops in the state. © 2011 Financial Buzz. All rights reserved. World Top 10 Richest Countries 2016 10. Saudi Arabia:Per capita income: $56,000 Saudi Arabia has an oil-based economy with solid government control over major economic activities. 9. Switzerland:Per capita income: $56,000 The producer of chocolate bars and luxury watches is one of the world’s richest economies. Its policy of long-term monetary security and political stability has helped it remain the biggest center for global offshore wealth. Over a year ago, Switzerland’s central bank shocked financial markets by abandoning the cap of 1.20 francs per euro it had defended for three years to shield its economy from the pain of an overvalued currency. 8. United States of America:Per capita income: $57,000 The United States is the world’s largest economy with gross domestic product (GDP) estimated at $17.914 trillion as of mid-2015.The U.S. is currently the world’s largest producer of oil and natural gas. It is one of the largest trading nations in the world, as well as the world’s second-largest manufacturer. It hosts the New York Stock Exchange, the world’s largest stock exchange by market capitalization. 7. United Arab Emirates:Per capita income: $68,000 The United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) economy is the second-largest in the Arab world after Saudi Arabia, with a GDP of $570 billion in 2014. It is extremely reliant on oil, with more than 85% of its economy based on the oil exports. 6. Norway:Per capita income: $68,000 Norway has the world’s largest sovereign wealth fund. Much of Norway’s economic growth has been fueled by an abundance of natural resources, including petroleum exploration and production, hydroelectric power, and fisheries. With a population of more than five million, the country has a very high standard of living, compared with other European countries, and a strongly integrated welfare system. 5. Kuwait:Per capita income: $72,000 Kuwait has nearly 10% of the world’s oil reserves and it is the fourth-biggest producer in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Oil accounts for nearly half of GDP and 95% of export revenues and government income. The Kuwaiti currency is the highest-valued currency unit in the world. One Kuwaiti dinar buys US$3.28. 4. Brunei:Per capita income: $80,000 Oil revenue accounts for more than half of the GDP of this tiny, wealthy country. Substantial income from overseas investment, as well as income from domestic production, help boost the economy. Brunei is the third-largest oil producer in Southeast Asia. It is also the fourth-largest producer of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the world. Brunei’s population is estimated at 418,000. 3. Singapore:Per capita income: $85,000 The world’s only sovereign island city-state is noted for its pragmatic and incorrupt governance, which together with its rapid development policies, is widely cited as the “Singapore model.” The nation’s highly developed trade-oriented market economy has been ranked as the most open in the world and the most pro-business with low tax rates. 2. Luxembourg:Per capita income: $94,000 Luxembourg, which is the second-smallest state in the European Union, enjoys a degree of economic prosperity very rare among industrialized democracies. It is seen as a diversified industrialized nation, largely depending on the banking, steel, and industrial sectors. With a population of a little more than 500,000, Luxembourg is ranked the eighth least-populous country in Europe. 1. Qatar:Per capita income: $146,000 When it comes to the 2015 richest country, Qatar wins by a landslide. The oil boom was the major monetary source of this southwest Asian state, which is ranked as the world’s largest exporter of LNG. Petroleum and liquefied natural gas are the cornerstones of the nation’s economy and represent more than 70% of its total revenue, more than 60% of GDP. Josh Sigurdson talks with author and economic analyst John Sneisen about the recent development out of Russia as it has been announced that the Moscow Stock Exchange will now trade cryptocurrencies! Now, it's one thing to just strictly trade cryptocurrencies, but what's really happening is a totally different story than almost any media is reporting. People will be trading ETFs and derivatives on cryptocurrencies. We've seen the toll ETFs and derivatives have had on the gold and silver markets as they're manipulated into a mould that man creates. It allows banks to rig precious metals like gold and silver as they have. Mainly banks like Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Scotia Bank, BNP Paribas and others have made gold and silver an artificial bear market since 2012 when naturally they should have been bull markets considering the buy up of physical money. These ETFs are a great way to suppress the true value. It over complicates that which is so simply and allows the value to be manipulated. One bases Bitcoin not just on the scarcity and demand but on the market cap. Simple as that! But now these banks will be falsely telling us what the value is. This can not be accepted by those of us in the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency communities. With that said, the manipulative chains of the banking system will break alongside the chains that hold gold and silver down once the fiat empire falls, but it's still important to point out how dangerous this manipulation is. On top of this, as Bitcoin surpasses Netflix and PayPal in market cap and comes up on Morgan Stanley, according to Business Insider, there are now 50 hedge funds dedicated to cryptocurrency. John also breaks down the positive side and the negative side to this development. Let's always keep in mind what true demand and value is. Let's never allow us to further be centrally planned and rigged. There is always an agenda behind rigging that is not in the interest of the consumer. The free market always prevails but the state collaboration with the banking system in rigging markets is not a free market. Stay tuned for more from WAM!
