Item 9, change management, is actually change control. Change Management is a distinct discipline of project and programme management.

Once the project manager has prepared the "work breakdown structure (WBS)", he or she must also assign it to the subproject managers as "work packages" or as "deliverables". Isn't that right? Then the project manager must also ask all subproject managers for their "statement of work (SOW)" documents. How else can the scope of each individual subproject manager be kept under control after changes in the project itself? Or how can you control each individual sub-project manager in the course of the project if no (SOW) has been submitted to the project manager?

Just one observation about Project life Cycle: The generic life cycle structure is often referred to when communicating with upper management or other entities less familiar with the details of the project. It should not be confused with the Project Management Process Groups, because the processes in a Process Group consist of activities that may be performed and recur within each phase of a project as well as for the project as a whole. How come she didn't use the whole white board? she only used half. Had she used the entire board things wouldn't have been so scrunched up together.

trexinvert (2 years ago)
Working in engr/mfg my best strategy for proj mgmt is expect 100% failure at every task then do other people's job. Curse/strength of an engr doing this role is the assumption/ability to be smart enough to do it all. Just the motivation is sometimes lacking. BTW. Great video. Motivating!

There seems to be some mixup in the explanation of project life cycle. The project management processes are indicated as project life cycle, where as these processes get repeated in each project phase. Please refer to page 38 of PMBOK 5.
Michael Wheeler (3 years ago)
It's good but the only thin I had a bit of confusion on was "CCB" The CCB in ITIL is known as the CAB (Change Advisory Board) and there is also an eCAB which is an Emergency CAB which is designed to make emergency changes with a smaller subset of stakeholders.
Yum Burst (7 months ago)
Coz CCB in Asia, i.e., Malaysia Singapore means awesome!
Natasha Sadaeva (1 year ago)
At work we have a CCG - change control group. I think it just varies depending on the organisation and size of project.
Steve Holloway (3 years ago)
I found this short video to be very informative.  It's one thing to read about these terms and it's another to have some one explain them in layman's terms.  Thank you.

I stopped listening when she said "hierarchial" ... the word you are trying to say is hierarchical, pronounced: "higher-ark-ickle" In order to be an effective PM, it's vital to have the respect of the team you are managing. Mispronouncing words will lose you respect. It's especially ironic to hear during a video that is essentially a vocabulary lesson.
Lisa Dellanno (4 months ago)
Most people mispronounce and/or misspell words! If that is what you base your opinion of effectiveness on, you are surely missing the boat!!! I would suggest being more concerned with the PM's ability to get the project done according to plan!!!
Prabhu Jhn (7 months ago)
It doesn't matter to me. I didn't come here for Voice and Accent training. She has been simple and fantastic.
Thomas Kilpatrick (9 months ago)
Being a know-it-all perfectionist wont win you much respect either... project management is as much about PEOPLE management sometimes as projects

Excellent Video clip! Sorry for butting in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you tried - Weydaniel Organized Dominator (google it)? It is an awesome one of a kind product for getting 7000 plus project management and business templates minus the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my friend Sam after a lifetime of fighting got cool success with it.
